@edforest63445 жыл бұрын
d d using metaphors in story telling can and have made some great directors. George Lucas directed and produced Star Wars which is chalk full of metaphors about world politics and sociological imbalances. KZbin isn’t the stupid one here ... you ran past stupid a long time ago and you’re quickly coming up on moronic.

That’s a simile, not a metaphor.
@edforest63445 жыл бұрын
ozzstriker101 oh yeah that one thing in Star Wars ....was a similar....zero metaphors in Star Wars? I must have been watching the wrong movies....here are a couple metaphors for you listed on Jedi Counsel Forums Phrases and descriptors I've used myself include: That's let the mynocks into the generator Took off faster than a smuggler with RepSec on his tail A maze of corridors (or perhaps, then, a tricky problem) is more complicated than a sandworm burrow or just a sandworm burrow Somebody clumsy is described as Bantha footed Someone gives a Wookie-hug, not bear-hug Phrases straight from the movies themselves include: Strong enough to pull the ears off a Gundark Laser-brained idiot and (of course) Nerf herder Those are just a few but some of the most memorable....there are countless other metaphors all of which can be found right beside the Smilies so get off your high horse.
@whoasupercrazy5 жыл бұрын
@d d Firstly, that alone doesn't make her a great director, I said "partly" meaning it adds to her skillset of directing. Secondly, metaphors can be a huge help in directing actors, which arguably is the biggest job of a director. if you're good at metaphors (or similes for you nitpickers) it can be easier to convey how you want a character to feel during a scene. Let's say you have a scene to direct where a guy is courting a girl but he's coming on too hard. Maybe the direction you can give the actor is "pretend you're at a job interview, and this is the last job interview you have lined up this month. And you really need the money." It paints a clearer picture for the actor. But I get it, reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. Boy, KZbin is stupid

Greta Gerwig really created the most defining adaptation of Little Women and surprisingly, it even surpassed the 1994 version. Her screenplay for that movie is really terrific. Not only that, Greta Gerwig has also assembled a great cast with the likes of Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Laura Dern, and Meryl Streep. The cast of Little Womem is considered as the best ensemble cast of 2019 alongside The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Parasite.

@@apocalypseburger3298 Look, this is a blunt and accurate opinion of mine, not a copy and paste. While the 94 version has been a good version, the 2019 version is considered as the definitive modern and contemporary adaptation. The new version of Little Women is surprisingly great. No doubt that this new modern take on Little Women will be compared to period piece adaptations with modern takes such as Joe Wright's Pride and Prejudice, as well as Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility. Futthermore, the 2019 version of Little Women will also be compared to other critically acclaimed remakes such as the Coen Brothers' 2010 remake of True Grit and Bradley Cooper's 2018 remake of A Star is Born.

I get your point and I do agree with it. However in these interviews when the interviewee has a partner that's well known, they often get asked a lot of questions about them. For example, for a long time and to this day half the questions John Krasinski is asked are regarding Emily Blunt. Same goes for Dax Shepherd or Ryan Reynolds about Kristen and Blake. They all get asked about their kids too so it isn't too abnormal. Standard interview procedure for American TV.

I still watch that every once in a while and I always feel as moved as the first time I watched it. She has come so far. It's incredible.

Jordan Peele deserved a directing nomination for “Us”

The only plus side about her not getting a directing nom is that Noah also did not get a directing nom, and their screenplay catagories were different, so they weren't in competition at the oscars. They both should have been nominated though...

Will you put his movie first? NOPE. That is the sign of a healthy relationship.

I'm a Filipino and I don't know Kimmel much but he's hilarious! More than the other guys doing night shows!

I love Lady Bird and she directed the heck out of that movie, but she directed the HELL out of Little Women. It's the most unique and daring take on adapting the novel and she pulled it off effortlessly, brilliantly. She should have been nominated for BOTH of her directorial efforts. But it's okay. Her best work is yet to come.

Went to this after watching another interview. She has a stutter...but she doesn't have the self-doubt and self esteem issues that most people have.

There have been film adaptations of Louisa May Alcott’s iconic Little women since 1917. I personally prefer the 1933 version where Katherine Hepburn plays Jo. Haven't seen this new version, let's see what novelty it brings to the fro.

When you compare this interview with the interview jinny fallon did with gretas husband, he gets to talk about his film after 40 seconds. I feel like Greta didn't get to talk about her film anytime during this interview.

She was really good in a smallish role in _20th Century Women_ . _Lady Bird_ was good, but it wasn't the masterpiece that some depict it as. I still have to watch _Little Women_ before the Oscars.

Anyone know what the babies surname is ? Harold Gerwig-Baumbach sounds like a character in a Charles Dickens novel.

It is absolutely criminal that she did not get a Best Director nomination at the Globes or Oscars when her film as a whole, her script and her actors received nominations. It makes no sense.
