Waking up in the morning, in the Summer of 1996 is my oldest memory. I didn't have my own room, my house only had 1 floor, my only TV was a CRT with a wooden frame, there was a large cement tank for washing clothes just outside my front door, 2 large piles of red bricks beside it, across the street there was an old house where there's only a pile of dirt now, there were ripe persimmons in the orchard, instead of houses the 2 patches of land behind my house had a small vineyard and a grassy field that lead to the woods and was full of noisy crickets, I had a Master System, a Mega Drive, and I had no idea what DLC or Microtransactions were...

Sounds pretty cool. Funny enough, the part of the moving boxes in the interface was a complaint I first saw with the PC review. I thought the consoles (or a controller option) would help by going the route of using the D-pad to select boxes so that their movement would be moot. Seems that isn't the case. Still, it's a nice recommendation, I think I'll check it out.

The game is pretty good doing each chapter once. But after getting the ending, do not do New Game+. That is when the game shows its flaws now that one knows what's going on rather than it being a suprise.
@vonadi52853 жыл бұрын
I did NG+ to 100% the other characters but yeah it was more of a frustration to play it "as a game" rather than "as a new experience". Especially the sequences with Alex.

@@Veolynn13 the game at first presents itself as a unique adventure, but it is almost entirely on rails, making bizzare excuses to not veer off course. Zoe's story is 95% the same everytime, with only a single change near the end that might even get negated. Jarod always gives up pursuing Sonya either on his own or due to Stan and Mitch, and a bomb based on Alex's designs gets made by the Brigade. The election results are concluded in a voice over, with one of the two candidates winning regardless if it makes complete sense.

Yeah I know people say things are never as good as you remember them because nostalgia blinds you but I'll tell you right now things were definitely better back in the mid-90s. Maybe it was simply because we weren't fully aware of how close we were to things going terribly wrong as they have but I just had a much greater sense of hope back then that has been completely stomped out. If it wasn't for tech being so significantly greater and better I would say we haven't made any strides at all since then.
