Diagnosing A Blinking Check Engine Light 2006 Hyundai P0300 & P0301

My engine light is blinking and my car's running really rough but I have no other way to work, and cannot afford to lose my job! I work 3rd shift about 45 miles away.and have to drive it until I get paid tomorrow because I have no other way to work. A girl at the auto store hooked it up to that machine & said 2 of my spark plugs are bad, but that I should be ok until tomorrow. I think I'm going to go buy some Cat cleaner today before I go to work to see if that helps! Thank you for your video!

Good tutorial. My van started with blinking check engine light. I have parked it for now but I have a good feeling it is 1 & 2 coils. P0300, P0301 & P0302. Original coils, 2002 Denso coils lasted 17 years. 😁

My Sonata's Check engine light is just on, not blinking. Car drives fine, accelerates smoothly and idle is also stable. Fuel consumption is normal as it's always been.

Great video. I just got a 2005 Hyundai accent. I replaced all the wires and plugs because the engine light was on. Misfire in 2 and 4, and random. Still sounds a little rough at Idle and engine light blinks on occasion. Should I look into testing the coil pack? I dont know how long the car was sitting, so should i also use some kind of injector cleaner like C Foam?

If I’m doing a tune up would it be wise to just replace all the coils alongside the spark plugs? It sounds pricey but I’m coming up on 200k miles and I figure if I want it to make it to 300k it’s probably a good time I start preparing for it

my 2003 buick rendezvous has blinkin light and cylinder 1 misfire issue. after the read.the light hasnt been blinking i thiught ill get a tuneup firestone midas.advertise 99.99 but because of i dont know why those places said changing my spark plugs is about 250-275 thats bad right? on top of that theyre telling me coils and or sparkplugs are possible needed changing and...i dont know.sounds like tuneups not a tuneup as advertised

My Peugeot 206 1.1 has had a flashing engine light the engine stops itself while driving but will restart straight away it's like a total electrical failure all of a sudden then the flashing engine light goes away to leave a steady on engine light I clear the light and all's fine then you can drive it no problem till the next time could be another 40 miles or more so I'm thinking can the coil pack suddenly fail then be ok could it be a loose wire going to the coil pack? it's a strange one this there is no rough engine running when the engine restarts all mechanics I have asked have no idea what is the cause as there no symptoms to show them I might just change the coil pack and plugs and check the wiring to the coil pack connecter I have the engine fault coad also I've checked the earth on the engine to the car and from the battery to the car it's all good have to check it out any ideas would be great to try thanks 👍💯🤔

My hyundai has the CEL on. Cold start engine runs pretty smooth but when is getting warm it starts jerking and loss of power if i push the gas, then the CEL light start blinking about 30 times. Also rough idle when warm.

@@jimthecarguy hi there ! I did today. misfiring cilinder 1 and 4 . that was a bad cool pack. fixed it. however I still have a p0030 regarding the heater on the o2 sensor and fuel closed loop. I think that would be a bad evap vent valve. anyway, after changing the coil pack the engine run ok. thanks for your help ! have a nice one.

Thank you for the video. I have a misfire code on one of the cylinders. After doing various diagnoses, it has been definitely determined that the issue is with a bad ground wire on the fuel injector connector on the cylinder with the misfire code. I replaced the entire ground wire for that cylinder with the misfire code from the fuel injector connector all the way to the ECM just to be sure, even though I didn't even see a broken or chewed up wire. This didn't resolve the issue. The car has a V6 cylinder and I also diagnosed the other 5 fuel injector connectors. The ground wires for all those 5 fuel injector connectors are fine. Since replacing the ground wire didn't resolve the issue, is there anything you can suggest I try out at this point? For the time being, as an alternative method, I decided to splice and share the functional ground wire from the adjacent cylinder. In other words, I now have two fuel injector connectors sharing the same ground wire. This method has worked and has resolved the misfire issue. However, my concern is if this method is an acceptable resolution or is there any type of downside or hazard this could cause? Thank you!

I hear that a lot on automotive channels and get a little lost. Is there a tool that has both built in?

The scanner works on the info it gets from the DLC connector under the dash.It gives you data from all the different sensors ect and allows the output to be graphed. The scope can be directly connected to a sensor to find out it's operation and can record the outcome.Several sensors can be monitored at the same time, depending on the number of channels available.

I replaced clutch disc in Renault megane 2010, now engine is misfiring, engine light is flashing when i go above 30mph. codes says that multiple misfire detected. I changed spark plugs and ignition coils as well, compression is fine in all the cylinders. I have an 07 dodge charger rt radiator cracked ... replaced the radiator went to turn it over and it putted like it was gonna die .. it idles rough and eventually dies I haven't driven it cuz it's still up on Jack stands so I replaced crank sensor and had a code for knock so replaced that.. as well I had a p0300 code for random misfire so I replaced all 16 spark plugs check engine went away for a few minutes.. car is still doing the same thing except now I have a blinking check engine light and it smells like it's burning rich I'm told... cannot pull codes with blinking check engine light.. no smoke from anywhere fluids look good not mixed... it's got 113500 miles any ideas

I never like to use any oil flush on the engine oil.You may just want to change the oil earlier than normal that should clean it out.

Daddy Dunnam Did you check for bad fuel injectors? Wiring on fuel injectors? Clogged fuel filter? Vacuum Leak can cause misfires. Intake gasket?

Daddy Dunnam Sorry, did not see the rest of your post. O2 sensors can cause misfires. These are very important for fuel air mixture on todays cars. These for GM online are not very expensive and they are exact replacements for your year and make. AC Delco I would assume. I had a Honda years ago that would not start due to a bad O2 sensor. $19 fixed it!

Had a friend of mine drive with a misfire for 50 miles to get it to a shop ASAP (mostly highway and knew he didn't want to drive it much longer), blinking CEL time to time but supposedly he managed to get it to the shop and it came out to be a stuck open fuel injector and some o2 sensors. Do you think this will cause anything to his car?

Great video Jim. I was wondering I have an 04 Malibu 3.5 and got the p0300. I found that one of my spark plugs was cracked and when I went to unplug the rubber boot on top of the coil I got shocked bad. Should that happen? or is this another problem? thanks and keep up the food work.

Good question .Yes if the plug is cracked you should replace it and as for the shock if the car is running and you pull a plug wire you will get a bad shock.You will need to use any tool that is insulated .

My engine light has been on for 2years,but never flash up untill now, but ran good,& smooth,had engine light checked sensors also but Machanics couldn't find which sensor it was, now look at it it,s worse now, I,m so worried that this is the end of my SUV, I had since 2014.if my catalyst converter damage,than I have to have my Envoy laid to rest.🙁

Jim, what happens if you di not erase the misfire codes? Does the computer still think that the misfire still present and the computer can disable the coil and injector in cylinder #1?

That will not be a problem. Once the misfire is repaired after a few drive cycles the code will clear itself.

If you did not have the problem before you changed the tires and with the new tire you do you should recheck the balancing

Actually I could have just replaced two but I did recommend to replace all because of the random misfire I did not want to cause another problem with the converters.

Hello Jim I got a 2007 Hyundai accent and she has engine light on and it seems to only flash when I first start the car and drive a little ways then it stops. she was misfiring on cylinder one we replaced spark plug, but she still rides rough and I still have the same problem with the engine light!!! Please help me? Thanks

If the engine light is blinking don't drive it you will damage the converter.Did you replace the coil?

Thanks Jim :) actually no I didn't replace the coil I replaced the spark plug...anyway the light is blinking at all now...

Does the light blink when you idle or when you drive?

it seems only when she was idling,,,i did fix the misfire and never drove her for a couple of days and the light didn't blink at all yesterday...

I have a 98 GMC Sierra 2500 5.7 My check engine light comes on and after driving for 3-5 hours goes off and vice versa goes back on again. Sometimes it may not come back on for a day. Sometimes it will stay on all day. What can cause this?

You will need to scan the truck for codes to see what is wrong.

i have a 350z and is miss firing, have tried new coil packs, spark plugs, injectors and fuel rail off a mates running 350z, added an earth, and still missfiring!? why please help

Did you check for codes?What did the plugs look like?Did you do a compression test?

jimthecarguy i got p0300 and compression test was all fine

also for the service the plugs had a bit of oil on but i think are clean now
