That's her real voice. It's a vocal technique commonly used in metal music. There are ways of screaming where it doesn't hurt you. She's been doing it for years now so, she's got it down pat. Her name is Tatiana by the way. Hilarious though that you were calling her Jinjer lol. It's just the name of the band. Great reaction, you guys are fun.

I don't know if she intended this, but since the throat chakra represents the power of communication in those mystical systems that ascribe to such things, she's symbolically invoking that power into her voice. It seems quite appropriate to me. :D

The interpretation about 10:50 in is basically what the song is about, actually. Tati's a pisces (as in, the astrological sign) and the whole song is about that duality of being the sweet, innocent as well as the brutal death-seeker. The switch-ups are meant to evoke those two halves of the duality. They're reinforcing the theme with the music.

So it is live, it is her singing and the band playing what you hear, but it's been doubled up a bit in post to add a bit of "ooomph".

@Grobut814 жыл бұрын
@@dementare It's not raw, a "live-session" like this is ment to go on an album or be used for a music video, so the studio will touch it up a bit in post (but mainly it's the vocal layering, there's no heavy post-processing like auto-tune or anything like that from what i can hear). If you want to hear her live proper, then you should go search for "Perenial live at wacken" or perhabs "who's gonna be the one live". Those are both growl-heavy songs by them performed at outdoor concerts, so there's no post done there, no layering. And you can tell the difference, she's an impressive growler live, but it doesen't sound like the studio recordings (because there's only one of her live, in studio there's atleast two of her, thanks to layering), but the clean tone? That's all her, that's there live aswell. She's a very talented vocalist, the best female growler i've heard by far. Live does not mean accoustic though. This isen't MTV-Unplugged just so we're clear. Just as the guitar and bass has effects they use, as does the mic, and Jinjer are definately using reverb on the mic when performing. Specifically echo, with the echo setup to come in almost emediately, this has the effect of adding a bit of boost and sustain to her voice, but doesen't actually alter her voice in any way (so she's singing what you're hearing, but there's a slight amplification. This is nothing new mind you, many bands do this, also outside of metal, this is pretty bog-standard stuff).

Tatiana(vocals), Eugene(bass), Vlad(drums), Roman(guitar) are all so talented in their own right. Saw them live in October...absolutely amazing. It is her, part of it is practice, the other part is it's something she was born with(larynx). Although she has had no formal practice. I had a friend who turned me on to them and told me the singer was female. I listened to them and thought one of the guys in the band did the screaming part. Early last year when the song went viral it popped up on my suggestions in KZbin. I happened to be with him when I played the live video for the first time. Had it going through the speakers in the truck. When it got to the screaming part I was like "oh shh! THAT'S HER!" He's like yeah, I told you. I was taken back as well...and I love this type of music. Should have known it was possible bc I listened to bands like Otep, Arch Enemy, and Butcher Babies(all female fronted bands). None of their vocals go this deep though. If you do another video do Perennial at Wacken. The sound is at the very least just as good as the official video and you get to see what they are about in concert.

There is a great video of Jinjer performing this song live at the Wacken Festival. Ive been a musician for over 30 years and one of the things I have found is electronic voice manipulation or autotune in a live show is hard to hide. Definitely her real voice. I saw them live the end of last year. This is a smoother song from them, but they play a whole lot of styles. They tend to be counted as either nu-metal or progressive metal because of their use of different genres and time signatures. For the song itself, Pisces is her astrological sign, but it tends to be represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions. The song and the way she switches between the cleans and the growls does a lot to represent that. She's talking about her lighter side, her fears and doubts, but then the growls kick in and its her darker side of anger and depression. They use a lot of fish or aquatic metaphors to represent it, those who try and take advantage of her casting out hooks and nets to catch her, or that mix of fear and desire to be caught and brought into the sun(which tends to spell the end for a fish) even though she knows it would likely mean being picked apart and having what makes her special taken from her. The ending lines are 'Under the knife of handsome butchers, emeralds are ripped away' like a fish being descaled. For other jinjer songs, I would definitely recommend teacher teacher or I speak astronomy for more official releases. If you want to see just how good her growls are in a truly live setting, Who is gonna be the one is a great concert shot video.

Jinjer reactions (especially guys) are the best it’s like they see a demon appear before their eyes “HELL NO....I’M OUT”. 😂😂😂 She has an incredible voice and going seamlessly from the growls to the high singing is so difficult.

I watch every Pisces reaction just to see everyone's reaction to Tatiana when she flips the script and starts growling....It never disappoints. That is her real voice. She has one of the best growls in metal.

Always love watching people really get metal for the first time and the end of this song always does it.

Omg I laughed so hard with y’all!! 😂😂😂 She’s phenomenal. I reacted exactly the same first time I heard this. Btw, when there’s growls like that in metal & I can’t understand the words, I flip a switch in my head and listen as if that growl or scream is another instrument. (I mean the voice *is* an instrument so I guess that works? I don’t fuckn know. 😂)

I sent a very lengthy comment about this song. It was like a book. I always come back to your reactions. You guys are the best. You really listen to the music and you are very positive about what you here.

Fun reaction - subbed. First, I have to say growls don't use the vocal cords like singing and speaking do, so ideas of male and female voice don't really apply - physical size does matter, just as it does with an instrument, so it is exceptional that Tatiana can get so low while being quite petite. I've seen them twice, and Tatiana is epic on stage. There is a lot of editing, but Tatiana's growls are very real, and this isn't her lowest growls either. I never liked growls until I found Jinjer, Tatiana brings the feels and I'm here for that. I had to listen to their songs while reading the lyrics for a few weeks until my ears learned to decode the distortion, now I can't even tell she's growling half the time - it just sounds like intense singing. Pisces is all about Tati through the lens of her Pisces astrology sign and the duality it represents - the cleans are her depression and loneliness, but also fear of intimacy, while the growls are her pain, anger and self-destructive urges. All their songs have great lyrics. Welcome to the world of Jinjer. Cheers! They bring it live, so I'd recommend putting their (because once the initial shock wears off, you'll start noticing how good the guys' instrumental skills are too) skills to the test in a concert performance. I'd recommend either Perennial at Wacken or Who Is Gonna Be The One official live. Teacher Teacher official isn't a concert video (though it uses footage from several shows) but is probably their most popular song and incorporates some rap elements. Tatiana is exceptional, but nowhere near unique, so here are some other female singers that use some variation on growling vocals. I don't really compare the singers below like "her growls are more powerful" or whatever, to me what matters is whether the technique they use and the way they use their techniques gives me feels. Arch Enemy's "Ravenous" live in Tokyo with Angela Gossow (the singer who put AE on the map) and "Nemesis" live at Wacken with Alissa White-Gluz (their current singer), while "Reason To Believe" official mixes in some cleans. Note that Angela and Alissa use totally different growling techniques, false cord growls and fry screams respectively, and you'll note the difference in sound. (Nobody is quite sure what Tati uses - it is either exceptionally deep and explosive fry screams, or exceptionally flexible and prolonged false cord growls. Usually false cord growls let a singer spit out short bursts of powerful growling lyrics, while fry screams tend not to have so much sheer power but to have more flexibility and be able to be sustained through longer vocal lines). Oh jeez I'm doing the wikipedia thing again haha. Straight Line Stitch's "Black Veil" Spiritbox's "Blessed Be" Infected Rain's "Orphan Soul" In This Moment "Big Bad Wolf"

@@williamcody3415 I've just done a lot of technical and creative writing so I've had to teach my fingers to stay on topic haha. It's kinda hard for me to write less than 1000 words on anything that's important to me. :p

@lorihuss73123 жыл бұрын
I think your interpretation of the lyrics is correct. I don't think she says "scale amour blaze". Every lyrics site I've looked at has blaze in the song but she sounds like she's saying "belies". It makes more sense, too. She is singing of duality. Thanks for putting this comment here. I heard an interview with Jinjer and Tatiana stated that she feels very strongly about listeners being able to understand the lyrics during her songs.

Subtitles. 😂😂😂😂 They never work for music. You could look up lyrics in a separate window. There are websites like “Genius Lyrics” (one of the better ones). It’s way better when you can see what she’s saying.

For those still confused for what the screaming lyrics are: Scale armor, a blaze, virgin innocents. One being, brings life. The other runs for death. The lyrics symbolize the fish of pisces into a spiritual Ying-Yang backround.
