Great reaction and great attitude! So much amazing music out there that people never hear because they limit themselves to 'genres'. As for categorising 'metal', don't worry, even die-hard metalheads often argue about what box to put some bands in. Tatiana (and all the other 'growl' artists) use a vocal technique that employs 'false cords' rather than the vocal cords we use to speak/sing. It's the same principle Tibetan Monks use for throat singing/chanting. Tati just happens to be particularly adept at it and also has a great set of pipes for traditional singing too. As others have said, the band are awesome live. I got to see them a couple of years ago and it was one of the best gigs I've ever seen, and I'm a really old fart who's been to 100's over the years.

Don't try to categorize Jinjer songs, as they're pretty much their own thing and very different between & within their songs. Starting your metal journey with a deathcore band like Slaughter to Prevail is definitely funny though, as it combines death metal, which is already pretty extreme, with metalcore, which is a combination of metal and hardcore punk. Definitely not for everyone, especially the death growls from the death metal genre, but some things are also a bit of an acquired taste. Definitely not devil music of course, but that (hateful prejudice) stereotype is more of a US religious hardliner thing. Metal is much more common and accepted in Europe, especially countries like Finland. It's true though, especially early on metal bands used those stereotypes and rode the whole satanic / demonic stereotype hard so it became part of the edgy symbolism and identity of some of the sub genres. The lyrics are often pretty meaningful too, but can also be just edgy or themed. Depends often more on the band than the genre though. In regards to Pisces, the themes of duality are very much intentional. One of the zodiac signs symbols are two fish swimming in opposite directions, like a yin & yang sign. Jinjer is still 80% metal, but they're more of a musicians band in that they're pretty technical and so much of a shredder band with constant blast beats going on. I'll leave my usual Jinjer recommendations, in case you want to check out more. Great reaction, and welcome to the Jinjer world. The band members could use a lot of support and love these days. Tatiana, and I beleve two of the band members, are from Donbass in Ukraina. They had to flee from their homes when the war started in East Ukraina in 2014. And now Russia is threatening to bomb and invade their home again. Its horrible, and they have all our support, love and sympathy. "Tatiana was having a barbecue in spring 2014 when she realised what was about to happen. “We were at a picnic, not far away from my building where I lived,” she says today from her flat in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. “We were just chilling on the grass, eating food and stuff. And we heard this loud sound in the sky - we looked up and saw a jet. And that was that. We just grabbed our stuff and ran home, and we started figuring out how to leave before it was too late." - Kerrang Jinjer wrote "Home Back" describing how it feels to have to flee frome your home. Maby you should react to "Home Back" next. Musically i think its best to react to Teacher Teacher first, and then Home Back.

Tatiana is her name. They are from Ukraine. She is self taught and in my opinion one of the most talented vocalist in the world. When she writes her lyrics she writes them in her language and then translates them to English. They do not make any bad music and i have a whole list of songs i could recommend you to but ill just give you one for now. Perennial live at wacken , their live performances are more enjoyable to watch than their music videos and they sound just as good if not better

Yes my favorite is symphonic metal, and the fans are as you say so pleasant and helpful. Lots of different metals styles out there. I am not really a fan of the "Cookie Monster" growling stuff. I prefer cleaner vocals. One of the best female singers (if not THE best) is Floor Jansen from Nightwish. Their performance of "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken Open Air in 2013 is perhaps the best I have witnessed anywhere in my 55+ years on this rock. I would recommend "Homeback" by Jinjer as a next song, its a more personal track from them about their journey living through the war between Ukraine/Russia and having to flee their hometown in Ukraine. Perennial live at Wacken truly shows her range n switches. The crazy thing only the drummer is classically trained but in piano. Everyone else is self taught and they are f'n amazing. Saw them in October and they sound just as amazing in person. Tatiana's stage presence is ungodly
