To me, what makes Tatiana the best is how much emotion she expresses in everything she sings. This is their most p!$$3d off song. They tangled with fascist thugs that threatened violence against some of their shows in 2014 and wrote this song in response. Live, she does the growls differently in every show and sprinkles those really low growls in little bits here and there in most of their songs. But when she really goes for it - mostly Who Is Gonna Be The One, Pit Of Consciousness, and Home Back (the latter hasn't been released yet, sadly), but in this performance of this song too - it is just brutal. Add in how personal the subject matter of the song is and the righteous fury she's channeling into her performance and yeah it really hits hard.

That low, almost rumbling growl she does is pure technique and breath support. I really like Vlad's drumming on the live version too.

There are absolutely zero effects on the mic in the studio. All effects , reverb , delay etc. is added at mixdown at the recording console. She sings on separate recording tracks to layer (harmonize) the vocals and those are blended at mixdown as well. Normal stuff that's been done since the 50's. No digital/electronic help folks.

She definitely has gotten deeper over the years. I think it’s her honing her technique. They are currently working on a video for “Home Back” and her vocals at the end of it are insane low. Love the double features you’ve been doing.

Loving the double features Sean, it's great to hear a song twice to get some nuances and that 'hit' from knowing what's coming, plus comparing studio vs live is a bonus. Obligatory shout out for Noah, but if you enjoy this style of Jinjer more then their earlier stuff maybe more up your street - Outlander or Cloud Factory would be a good start. No hoard of value is underrated so good shout (there's an official video with the lyrics in it, I'll find it and post below). Their newer tracks get more progressive and complex (like Ape and The Prophecy etc.). I really like Home Back and it's popular in the comments - fingers crossed they do an official vid for that soon.

And yeah, Tatiana seems to be able to just pull off every damn look. See also "Cloud Factory" official video and official live video. Or "Just Another" (smile). Or Captain Clock live at Resurrection Fest (yes, despite the bad audio quality). Or "Outlander" failure .Color version (studio sound on top of a live video) for more dreads - OR we could also go all the way back into their first album where they are all still very young for dreads galore. The Melbourne crowd was even better in "On The Top", but they haven't publicly released that one yet - they were really singing along though.
@FalconFlurry3 жыл бұрын
I think you are ready for Ape, it's still heavy, but not as heavy as this one. It's a lot more chaotic, like The Prophecy. No Hoard of Value is a really good one, it's an older song about the abysmal working conditions of the coal miners in their home town of Gorlovka, Ukraine which was a mining town. Make sure you do the lyric video, although if you wanted to do a double feature there is a bootleg live video featuring a unicorn. It's not very good quality, but it's pretty funny, Tatiana is trying to hold back laughter the entire time

Hi man! So, about the lyrics of this song: the song is one of Jinjer's most aggressive compositions, because Tatiana (who is author of 99% lyrics at all) had an aggressive state of mind when writing this song. In order to understand this state, you need to know when this song was written and where the Jinjer members were born, grew up and lived. Tatiana (and the whole band) from Gorlovka (Ukraine), this is Donbass region. Yes, exactly the one where the civil war is now going. Ukraine - a multiethnic country, but the two nations are the largest Ukrainians and Russians, with the bulk of Ukrainians live from the center to the north and west, and Russians mass live from the center to the south and east. For centuries, Russians and Ukrainians have lived peacefully and generally called themselves one nation. And only in the most western regions (in Galicia) the ultra-nationalistic worldviews have always been very strong. And in 2014, a coup d'état took place in Kiev, organized by ultra-nationalists with active US support (the US State Department officially admitted that it had spent over $ 3 billion in training “activists” of Maidan) to erupt power. First and foremost, the new government announced a total struggle with all Russian (the abolition of the use of the Russian language, the closure of Russian-language newspapers and TV channels, a ban on the importation and sale of russian books, etc.), but the worst thing is that they declared Bandera and Shukhevych as new nation heroes. During the Second World War this "heroes" led the Rebel Army that fought on the side of Hitler's Germany (based on them even the punitive Grenadier Division of the SS "Galicia" was formed - they not only fought with the Soviet army on the side of the fascists, but also took part in the punitive actions to exterminate the civilian population of Ukraine! So, that is why the population of Donbass (where almost exclusively Russians live) rose up and took to the streets with protests against the coup d'état and the new order. In response, the government sent regular troops to Donbass. So the civil war began. So, Tatyana wrote this song in 2014, feeling anger and powerlessness from planting new heroes and orders, complete disrespect for freedom of opinion and freedom of speech. This is a protest against the forcible introduction of other people's ideas, attitudes and ideologies, other people's "heroes." By the way, she wrote also a song "When Two Empires Collide" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZK8dGtqfdyCh7c ) about this war - it about two world empires Russia and the United States are fighting for control over the territory of Ukraine, which serves as a buffer between East and West. But they do not fight with their own hands (there are neither American nor Russian troops!), But they incite and direct Ukrainians against each other! But the blood on their hands, the governments of Russia and the United States. But first of all, the USA, which financed and prepared a coup d'état in Ukraine in 2014 (officially, the US State Department names the sum of 3 billion dollars that were invested in it). No more words, Tati says the best in "Two Epires Collide": "Two eagles are cruising around over my land. Two eagles are trying to break a branch they've already bent Two martial birds hunting each other Two pairs of wings try to bring a brother up against his brother." (On the National Emblem of both states, both the USA and Russia, eagles are depicted.) Greetings from Kiev, Ukraine. Be happy, stay hungry and ride the Metal! Peace! P.S. Sorry for insanely huge message - emotions (I'm Ukrainian from Kiev and it's my pain too').
