It is fairly undeniable that the Jiralhanae species is much stronger than the Human species. However, Mutagenic changes induced by the marker signal may give the conglomeration of humans a leg up in the fight. In this I will cover the strengths and weaknesses between the two and determine who exactly would come out on top and how they would fair in combat.

Honestly from the every first shot of the video using atroix's army i figured he would be using them as the baseline =( But the brutes would win in the way that Roanoke said BUT Atriox on the other hand would win in my opinion as his smarter and has the fire power to stop them (mainly the "glassing cannon" forgot what it's really called) so for open battle outside they would simply use that and use vehicles like choppers and maybe even banishes. The scarab wouldn't be much help as the brutes could tear it down with the numbers alone. So all and all the "average" Jirilhanae(s) would be no match in general but for Atriox and ones like him the brutes would be stopped (tho high death rates on both sides)

One weapon I wonder about concerning use againsty Brutes: The Gravity Hammer! That could be a real force multiplier for any Jiralhanae employing it against a Necromorph, as even though it has no nervous system, and has armour equivalent to a Mgalekgolo, the shock from the hammer might be able to blow apart pieces of the Brute. However, more disturbingly, if Humanity were using Markers, like in Dead Space, it would put the Covenant in the right. Not only that, but as the first alien civilisation to discover the Markers' true colours, and the means to combat them, the Covenant may just become the last, best hope for life in the galaxy.

well, the gravity hammer can be recharged like any other covenant weapon, just us humans got no clue how to recharge them in the games, also even without the energy part of it, you got a brute swinging it, the blunt force of it alone would probably smash open some heavy armor, then there is the blade on the rear of the hammer that can be used.

Sure it could possibly kill a dead space brute but it would take more than 1 hit from the gravity hammer to kill it also the halo brute would have to worry about slowing down the dead space brute to inflict damage to a dead space brute.

But...the brute shot has a GIANT blade on it and fires explosive shots that if hitting the weak points would destroy a brute, the gravity hammer hit a charging brute would probably stop it dead in its tracks, not to mention fuel rod cannons that use high concentrated plasma. Their weapons are stronger than humanities lore wise, not to mention they have plasma based weapons and explosives. I don't think a mindless drone like the necromorph can compete with a species dedicated to war.

Gareth Cowie I would say they would win. The thing with the prototypes (Alex and Heller) is that they have pure blacklight in them, which mutates and changes on a dime it seems. They could consume necromorph flesh to heal themselves without the negative side effects, and the biomorphs such as hammerfists would be able to kill most necromorphs with relative ease. Those things were made by the virus to down tanks after all. The saving grace of the necromorphs I'd say might be the markers, but I'm not sure how the signal works. If it is a biological infection, it wouldn't work, but if it is a psykic kinda thing, that would stop them.

Random Shmuck From my understanding, the markers emit some sort of "signal" that controls organic material to reshape it into necromorph flesh. Whether or not it would affect Mercer is unknown; it's likely not strong enough to warp his body, so I think Mercer and Heller could do very well in Dead Space. And a Brother Moon? Well, they're just _really_ big - they'd probably just be a huge all-you-can-eat buffet for them. Endless meat to chow on, essentially.

I doubt that brutes (Dead Space Brutes) would all be together. We've not seen brutes in general being together to form some sort of pack, unlike other necromorph creatures, which makes me feel as if this scenario would just be an imaginary conflict. Even in Dead Space 3 we've barely seen a Brute other than the Alien Lifeforms that exist near the end of the game. I also doubt that the Jiralhanae would be unable to go against the Brutes, as their guns consist of rather piercing rounds, possibly even immobilizing them. A Brutes chest mortar only seems to happen when the Brute is injured by a missing limb. A Jiralhanae's brute shot and their gravity hammer are quite effective and powerful tools, which would in most cases make the Brutes a pile of a mess, and with the Brute Shot comes its powerful sharp blade. Though yes, in the end, the Marker would probably do its own magic against the Jiralhanae, but I'd say it'd be a 9/10 Time win for the Jiralhanae. But it always will come down to statistics. Non-the less, amazing video, keep up the good work

In Dead Space 3 it was just a military base which really didnt have that many people in it, thats why a Hive Mind or Nexus was made out of humans everything big there was made out of the aliens. As for the Halo Brutes weapons piercing weapons are actually useless against necromorphs, yes they work in the games cause its a game they have to do that but in the comics/movies theyve made you HAVE to cut their limbs off so really only the Grav Hammer and the blade on the Brute Shot would be any good against a Dead Space Brute

Hmm...I feel like there would be some unggoy with small plasma cannons (plasma mgs) and fuel rod cannons. Also, I think that the gravity hammer plus the jiralhanae's strength will decimate the armor of the brute. Oops, I was in a faction battle mentality. Except for the gravity hammer point though. I don't think the jiralhanaes would bite into the flesh as they have encountered the flood before so they will be cautious of biohazardous flesh. Oh and jiralhanaes don't just use maulers, brute shots, and spikers. They also used Brute Plasma Rifles. Essentially a plasma rifle with higher fire rate. That plasma should melt the brutes' armor for a bit so I have a possible battle tactic. A line of jiralhanae will unleash a volley of plasma fire to soften the armor of brutes until nearing a sludge like state. Then rather than using the ranged capabilities of their brute weapons, they would use the blades to tear apart the brutes. Hopefully not all of the jiralhanae higher ups are dumb as bricks, so they can pick up on this tactic. I think you have given a pretty nice description of how combat would look like between these two beasts. The brutes would win automatically due to the Marker's signals turning the jiralhanae mad and against each other.

Khiem Phan Yeah a faction battle would be interesting but then if you included all the other necromorphs like the Tri-Pod, the Hunters, the Ubermorph, and etc. Then without their tanks and such the Covenant would be in trouble. Maybe they won’t bite the necromorphs but they might not know it’s a bio hazard right away or in the heat of berserker rage they might but it won’t be a huge factor anyways it’s just a thing that would effect them if they left or whatever. You do know Dead Space has plasma weapons right, like the Plasma cutter and line gun, along with other weapons like pulse rifles, seeker rifles, and contact beams which do little it the armor of the brute but if they aim for the weak spots then it would be very effective. Now to be fair maybe enough plasma attacks over time would damage or weaken the armor of the Necromorph brute but the problem is they don’t feel pain and it doesn’t stop them so it wouldn’t be too easy yet it would help the Hall Brutes. Also the Halo Brutes are pretty strong as he said but I’m inclined to think the Necromorph Brutes are stronger since they are not limited by pain able to use 100% of strength and like he said if humans used all their muscles then it would be 25,000 pounds of force which it can at least due to a human body being used for each arm, and I believe it is much more than we ever see from the Halo Brutes they are in the 1,000s of pounds for sure though. Also I think one thing Roanoke missed was Brute Chieftain vs Black Super Brutes which would be their strongest vs each other. The Brute Chieftain can crush the helmets of the Spartans and fight small groups of them even breaking their bones so they could be most likely to damage the normal Brutes with their own hands or of course a Gravity Hammer. But the Black Super Brutes are even more armored, harder to kill, their weak spots even harder to damage, and they are stronger so they could match if not push the Brute Chieftains even. One vs One Normal Brute vs Normal Brute, the Dead Space Necromorph Brutes would win most of the time yet the halo Brutes would have a chance. Halo Brute Chieftain vs Necromorph Black Super Brute, the Brute Chieftain would have a better chance this time yet the necromorph Brute would also be stronger and harder to kill so it could get either way due to the Brute Chieftain’s Gravity Hammer But without that the Brute Chieftain would die no doubt.

A gravity hammer could smash a dead space brute pretty easily. In fact some of the modified gravity hammers in Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2 are insanely powerful. I think you downplayed the jiralhanae weapons. Jiralhanae squads would have flame grenades, plasma grenades, fuel rod canons, plasma rifles. Many of the Jiralhanae weapons are heat based and arguably much stronger than Issac’s plasma cutter.

Not to mention the brutes vehicles which once again, are very useful against enemy’s like the necromorphs. Hey Roanoke, can you make a video about the very nature of the Red Marker? One text log in Dead Space 1, after beating the game, says that the necromorph cell shows signs of activity when come in contact with dead flesh, but completely shut down all activitiy when exposed to the Red Marker. As a result, the scientist called the emitted energy field of the Red Marker a 'Dead Space'. That's why Dr. Kyne wants you to return the marker to force the Hive Mind of the necromorphs of the colony/Ishimura to go to a 'sleeping state' again to shut down all the necromorphs on Aegis 7 at once. But why does the marker stop something itself creates (the necromorph cells were a reconstruction of the transcripted DNA code carved on the marker)? Some people go as far as saying Nicole (a hallucination created by the marker) and the woman Kyne sees in his hallucination, which both are psychological manifestations of the marker, guide Isaac and every other humans who survived the necro outbreak to bring the marker back to its original socket to shut down the Hive Mind, but why would the marker want to shut down the necromorph outbreak? I just don't get it.

I believe they can get infected but they would lose their humanoid in the process and just turn into worm with little flowers on them. I think that’s why they don’t infect them. Their true form is pretty useless and they would rather use the worms as hive material than actual combat

I disagree on the Jiralhanae losing. . and you got practically everything right but there are things the Covenant have access to that you forgot about. . the Brute shot is capable of flipping a warthog with one shot. the gravity hammer can breakthrough a concrete and steel reinforced wall. . and bruits coming across a planet they expected a fight on and they don't find one would make even the brute miners suspicious about what they're walking into and the major ships in the fleet would probably stay in orbit with only a scout group of dropships investigating the surface . and the final thing almost everybody forgets about the brutes everybody including the minors have a plasma Shield a lot like the sangheili. . they would suffer a large amount of casualties running into what they believed to be a variation on flood they would more than likely glass the planet after they lost most of their troops on the ground and if any ships with survivors tried making it to the fleet they would probably be shot down due to the fear of possible flood infection. . don't get me wrong I like the Necromorphs but they're pretty much retarded flood.

Yeah, even basic spikers are really 15.5 kg railguns that shoot rather large looking tungsten spikes, which are actually superheated to the point where they are formed inside of the gun. They're well known for their armour penetration, and they come with a handy bayonet for dismembering necromorphs. Considering that their weapons were largely invented before contact with the covenant, it is clear that they were designed for killing other Jiralhanae. You know, the raging, carnivorous, polar bear sized ape monsters with rhino like skin adapted for life on a planet with nearly twice the gravity of Earth. I don't think that their armory (or, as you mentioned, their armour) should be underestimated.

Roanoke Gaming Great video man! I loved it and it was well done, can’t wait to see you do more but I was a bit confused why you didn’t bring up the Brute Chieftains with their gravity hammers and the Black Super Brutes. Yeah a faction battle would be interesting but then if you included all the other necromorphs like the Tri-Pod, the Hunters, the Ubermorph, and etc. Then without their tanks and such the Covenant would be in trouble. Maybe they won’t bite the necromorphs but they might not know it’s a bio hazard right away or in the heat of berserker rage they might but it won’t be a huge factor anyways it’s just a thing that would effect them if they left or whatever. Dead Space has plasma weapons, like the Plasma cutter and line gun, along with other weapons like pulse rifles, seeker rifles, and contact beams which do little it the armor of the brute but if they aim for the weak spots then it would be very effective. Now to be fair maybe enough plasma attacks over time would damage or weaken the armor of the Necromorph brute but the problem is they don’t feel pain and it doesn’t stop them so it wouldn’t be too easy yet it would help the Halo Brutes. Also the Halo Brutes are pretty strong as he said but I’m inclined to think the Necromorph Brutes are stronger since they are not limited by pain able to use 100% of strength and like he said if humans used all their muscles then it would be 25,000 pounds of force which it can at least due to a human body being used for each arm, and I believe it is much more than we ever see from the Halo Brutes they are in the 1,000s of pounds for sure though. Also I think one thing Roanoke missed was Brute Chieftain vs Black Super Brutes which would be their strongest vs each other. The Brute Chieftain can crush the helmets of the Spartans and fight small groups of them even breaking their bones so they could be most likely to damage the normal Brutes with their own hands or of course a Gravity Hammer. But the Black Super Brutes are even more armored, harder to kill, their weak spots even harder to damage, and they are stronger so they could match if not push the Brute Chieftains even. One vs One Normal Brute vs Normal Brute, the Dead Space Necromorph Brutes would win most of the time yet the halo Brutes would have a chance. Halo Brute Chieftain vs Necromorph Black Super Brute, the Brute Chieftain would have a better chance this time yet the necromorph Brute would also be stronger and harder to kill so it could get either way due to the Brute Chieftain’s Gravity Hammer But without that the Brute Chieftain would die no doubt.

Maybe at first, but it would be during their mindless fits of rage that the marker signal would cement itself in their brains. They would go from anger to dementia pretty quick. Also, despite how many brutes they kill, the marker signal can repurpose the necrotic tissue. So the brutes as well as fallen allies would be reformed into more necromorphs.

My second post! This time about how this scenario would play out realistically, when not simply accounting for Brute vs. Brute. The Jiralhanae are stubborn, brutle, and reckless, but they are by no means blind battle husks. They can strategize, and they can tell when a battle is too costly to follow through with in the current manner. They would not necessarily give up, but simply change the approach. They would also not be so stupid to send in their ENTIRE force to the ground, meaning there will be several ships topside that the ground forces are reporting to. No doubt, given the suspicious situation they arrived to, they would immediately report that contact has been made, but with a FAR different kind of "flood". Upon noticing that this battle is incredibly tough and costly, they would either fight it out as long as possible, retreat and call in an air-strike, or simply be bombarded by the air-forces and be accounted for as "acceptable losses". At the end of the day, this event would not go unheard of, and would be reported immediately. Reinforcements would arrive, and upon realizing that there is literally NO reason to engage in a ground battle, the first stage of claiming the moon would be to simply bombard it entirely. Maybe decoys would be sent down, either noise makers or small task forces, to either draw enemies out or spot groups of enemies for bombardment. Once it is assumed that a vast majority of the enemy has been eradicated, more task forces would be sent down to sweep and clear the area. If not small forces, than a large force would be sent down, and a base would be made. From that defensive point, a slow and methodical taking of the moon would be a simple task. Small groups of the enemy can be handled by the large army and task forces, while larger groups of enemies can be either handled by the large army or bombardment. Also, any "infected" Jiralhanae that begins to get enraged and goes cannibalistic would be killed in an instant. The Jiralhanae show very little mercy or concern for traitors, or let alone anything close to that. More than likely it would begin as a brawl in a single attempt to show the attacker their place, but would quickly end with gunfire when they attacker shows no signs of surrender. A necromorph outbreak among Jiralhanae would not go far due to their "no bullsh*t" style. Humans are much more empathetic and vulnerable to confusion and fear, so the spreading of this type of infection is very easy. However, the spreading of such an infection within a warrior culture is nearly impossible.

Awesome video. I always wish for a Dead Space x Halo crossover. Mglekgolo Hunters vs Necromorph Hunters? Maybe consecutive blasts from the Fuel Rod Gun could kill the Necromorph Hunters, BUT how would Lekgolo worms react to the Necromorph genetic material? I think the tougher Jirilhanae, such as Atriox and Tartarus, with his Gravity Hammer, could do some serious damage to the Brutes without the influence of The Marker.

Something to note about the brutes sending master chief flying despite weighing 1000+ pounds. I had a chance to talk with a developer for bungie when some of them gave a presentation at my school and a question came up about getting tossed across the map by enemies like hunters, and the turtle people in destiny. The reason that you get launched across the map is because that big wind up melee attack is a hard coded animation so it doesnt stop once started. So essentially when you get hit by one of those melee attacks you are getting hit by an object with infinite mass.

TL;DR: The video is spot on, but here are some more factors to consider. It's important to keep in mind that this battle is strictly between Brute and Brute. In this respect, the video is spot on. Maybe a little off in the respect that not all portions of a body have the same durability. Necromorphs are known to aim for the neck/head of a target, and one bite from a Brute into the neck or head of a Jiralhanae would mean imminent doom. Also, the impact from a Brute's swing is going to do more precision damage to a Jiralhanae, since there is immense force being applied to a smaller surface area. This could very easily dislocate a limb, crack a rib, burst an internal organ, or concuss/shatter the skull or snap the neck. Brutes are also relentless, and a full body tackle WILL knock down a Jiralhanae, which will then lead to the Brute pummeling said Jiralhanae. More than likely this Brute will aim for the head. Jiralhanae, a living organism, will also have a natural limiter to how much strength they can produce due to their brain attempting to reduce damage from over-exertion and recoil. This means that if a Brute gets a hold of a Jiralhanae, the Brute, which HAS no limiter and exerts 100% of its power, will more than likely be able to overpower the Jiralhanae. As far as I know, I have not seen a Jiralhanae break through steel doors and walls with its own weight/strength. However, the Brutes are KNOWN for doing this. Its very first introduction even showed this. This limiter will be removed when the Jiralhanae goes into a blind rage, but then the problem comes in two points: Will the Jiralhanae live long enough in a grapple to go into said rage, and will it be able to escape/defeat the Brute before causing mortal damage to itself from recoil? Plus, even in a blind rage the battle will not end instantly. The Brute, oblivious to pain and exhaustion, will bite and fight even while taking hits. This means that more than likely even a raging Jiralhanae will still take damage, most likely mortal, both from itself and the Brute. One key thing I feel should have been accounted for is the Brute's back weakness. Their backs are HIGHLY vulnerable, and Jiralhanae are actually quite agile. They would easily notice the Brute's back being exposed. Jiralhanae are actually quite good strategists, even if a bit dull-minded, and would certainly exploit this factor. It IS possible that this factor, which allows ranged combat to come into play once again, could mean the Jiralhanae actually claiming victory. Afterall, one simple Engineer with mining and engineering tools has taken on a large number of Brutes by using their shoulders, or even just their exposed backs.
