Hello lovely people, so my laptop has finally given up on me and hence this video was impacted a little. It was supposed to be up yesterday. Do pardon me about the missing subtitles as well. Hoping to sort my laptop out today. Akia is from the northern part of Ghana near Bolgatanga but she grew up in Koforidua hence why she speaks twi so fluently. She has been making and selling waakye for 4years now. She used to make about 100ghs ($17.21) per day. Due to the pandemic she made some losses. She is currently trying to get back on her feet, she is currently breaking even. I hope you enjoy the video anyway. Don’t forget to LIKE and COMMENT even if its just an emoji 🇬🇭❤️🥰🙏🙏 To support Akia you can contact her directly on 0557612449 or you can use my patreon or paypal. www.patreon.com/JasmineAma www.paypal.com/paypalme/Jasmineeama?locale.x=en_US Thanks

We are not spoilt. This is a result of colonialism. They take from Africa and leave the ppl to fin for self. And the euro currency has so much value. There is no reason she should be working this hard and long for 17.21 USD a day??? And paying her workers??? Smh. There has to be a revolt. This is inhumane. I admire her strength though.

The youth and people in Ghana must not be lazy if I’m judging from this. Staring from the time the owner starts preparing to get food ready for her customers is overwhelming,Kudos to her. I respect her hustle and I pray God blesses her work. The next time I’m in Ghana, I will be sure to leave my change with these workers. They deserve it. This woman truly cares about her customers! "Ekaw" (don't know the english word) has been found to be very unhealthy and the fact that she could have simply used it to cook the beans and saved herself hours of hard work says it all. Most beans/ waakye sellers and even individuals use this because it makes the beans soften quicker and you don't have to keep stirring...so to find a seller who does not use it is pleasantly surprising. I'm truly very impressed. Edit: “kanwu” not “ekaw” (forgive my initial spelling lol) is also called “saltpetre” or potassium nitrate (crystalline KNO3) in english. It is a substance used in the production of some soaps, gun power (or other explosives) and fertilisers. That is why it’s not very advisable for consumption.

@jasmine ama, thank you for the night shift. The best 45 mins I spent instead of working. Move over MasterChef, this woman is just WOW! On another note, woman's hands must be heat resistant Wow! The way she gets the oil,I was biting my teeth hoping she doesn't burn herself I love that she thinks about nutrition and quality. Thus food is cooked with love❣️❣️❣️ She is a beautiful woman and wow lots of respect. She has taught me a few things i.e. focus, perseverance and love

Great great job for highlighting our local food, this time wakye prepared the authentic and the original way plus the original Hausa stew to go with it, thumbs up. Like here in Virginia, a friend was cooking wakye and was looking for stuff to make make it that brownish colored, i just told him what akia just told you, that wakye is all about the blend of cooking rice and beans as it originated and he got the point
