Aww I loved this. I lived in Broughty Ferry when I was a kid. Moved away when I was about 10. I used to go to Broughty castle sometimes. Our house looked out over the river Tay! We saw the Discovery arrive in the city (probably around 1985/86.) Really lovely to see it again. Funnily enough I do an online art class and the girl that takes it husband designed and painted the pillars of the Tay Bridge you walked bast at the end. I also we on the Unicorn ship I am sure it was for a friends birthday 😂🤣

Dundee was where marmalade and the adhesive stamp was invented. It was known as the three ‘J’s ‘, jute, jam and journalism. You missed out on it’s favourite delicacy, ‘stovies’ which is a mix of potatoes, onions and left over meat such as roast beef, mince or corned beef, which is heated on a stove for hours and is the best comfort food you will ever taste! It is sold in cafes or from street stalls in polystyrene cups.

I am from Dundee and we are defo on the Map now for sure..... you did miss one important feature of Dundee and it is our two Premiership Football teams Stadiums which are the closest in the UK.... in the same street only 150 odd yards apart. Other than that a great video.

We will have to add them to the list for our next visit 😊

I'm glad you think Dundee's cool - as it's usually absolutely perishing... lol. Yes, it certainly is one of Scotland's most underrated cities - and I could give you a good few more excuses for coming back. The McManus Art Gallery & Museum for one - which is the city's main museum, also free to get into and, sitting on the wall outside is none other than Oor Wullie - another of D. C. Thompson's characters who, together with The Broons, has appeared in The Sunday Post every week since about 1937... Don't forget Minnie the Minx either, who's right behind Desperate Dan, with her catapult ready to fire! Their former home is just along the road opposite The Howff, which is one of Scotland's oldest public cemeteries. The "rusty old ship"you saw in City Quay is the very last surviving lightship in the world by the way - and sadly, they've not been able to attract funds to restore it. It used to sit on North Carr rocks - some miles out to sea... Happily, HMS Unicorn is having some money spent on it. It was officially known as a Training Ship 100 or so years back, but add orphanage and borstal to the description and you'll be heading in the right direction... I believe it previously had better uses... Verdant Works - which is run by the same people as Discovery, is also very well spoken of - it tells the story of the jute industry, which is what really put Dundee on the world map from about 1860. There's also a really good transport museum which is currently just off the Broughty Ferry Road but which will hopefully be moving soon into the former Maryfield Tram Depot - Dundee once having over 17 miles of tramways, the last of which closed in 1956. Also down that way is the former gasworks site which we're told will be transformed into the new Eden Project in two years' time. There's an observatory in Balgay Hill Park in the west of the city too - and Claypotts Castle somewhere, too. Oh - and did I mention its only 12 miles to Glamis...?!!

Imagine how hungry you would be stranded at the Antartic. You would be freezing cold and shivering so much, it would be very tempting to p-p-p-pick up a penguin.

I left Dundee 43 years ago to live in Australia, and I barely recognise the city, all that waterfront is new. I was a gardener at the University of Dundee and the Botanic Gardens was an empty field, so everything you saw is only 40+ years old. The plants you saw in the hot house grow in my backyard!

Definitely agree with you guys, Dundee is very underrated but nowadays has so many attractions. Glad ylou finished with Dundee Law, a fab viewpoint which I walked to from the station in my youth!

I feel some shame as an (71yo) English lady, that the only thing (other than its in Scotland, of course!) about Dundee, is that a previous Fb friend of mine attended ... I apologise, I am mistaken.., it _wasn't_ at Dundee (as I first thought and wrote) but at _Durham_ University... (I feel so guilty now because I got the name of the University wrong, I'm so sorry lads... 😮😢) oh, but I _do_ know that there's a tasty cake called Dundee Cake!! I hope you enjoyed your slice... 😊🏴🤭

The Calanais Standing Stones are an extraordinary cross-shaped setting of stones erected 5,000 years ago. They predate England's famous Stonehenge monument, and were an important place for ritual activity for at least 2,000 years.

The bridge at 13:03 is specifically a giant version of the bridge of a cello or contrabass, the piece of wood that hold the strings up off the fingerboard and vibrates to transmit the sound to the body of the instrument.

Scotland has some of the best beaches in the world, especially on the west coast and the islands. And usually they're very quiet and a bit of a hidden secret. For great examples look at Sandwood Bay and Balnakeil beach in the far North West of the mainland, Traigh Beach and Silver sands at Arisaig and Morar respectively, Machir Bay on Islay, and my personal favourite and probably the most spectacular, Luskentyre beach on Harris in the Outer Hebrides which really is stunning.

It’s ROUGH AS FOOOOK !!! It’s a nice enough looking place but it’s not got a lot going on …. The V&A is huge whacking building yet it’s just on small room when ya go inside … ya can walk round the town in about 20 minutes ,, the undercurrent there is very very very high crime and the native population are mainly heroin addicts it’s not actually a very nice place at all in terms of the reality of the place
