I’ve had type 1 diabetes for 15 years. I was diagnosed when I was still a child. My blood sugar was 539 and I only weighed 55lbs. I was an hour away from a coma and a week away from death. Luckily my dad took me to the doctor twice and forced them to get blood work done. He saved my life. I used to do competitive sports and actually had a seizure from low blood sugar after 8 hours of gymnastics. Needless to say I changed my career path from an athlete to an artist and musician because of my condition. I hope people understand that autoimmune conditions are certainly not a joking matter. Thanks for the video.

Back in January 2016, my friend Richard and I were having a big birthday party since both of our birthdays occurred the same week. We were all planning to hang out that Saturday, which was his birthday. Sometime around lunch, my mom was noticing that Richard’s skin appeared really grayish and pale, which isn’t normal. My mom initially didn’t think anything of it, until she noticed how often Richard was drinking water and going to the bathroom. She was thinking it could potentially be diabetes, but she didn’t want to jump to conclusions too fast. When Richard talked to her, she smelled his ketone breath and immediately had a bad feeling that he had diabetes. She called his mom, but got no answer. Later that night, she bought a new battery for her glucose meter and pricked his finger. His blood sugar was a staggering 552mg/dL. The normal blood sugar shouldn’t be higher than 140 mg/dL. She put the party on pause and had a friend take him to the hospital. He spent a week in the hospital and when he was released, he looked much better. These days, Richard has to watch what he eats and has a special meter that checks his blood sugar and helps him adjust it. Basically my mom saved his life because he would’ve likely slipped into a coma if she hadn’t done anything

I'm really thankful for every channel on youtube producing videos on diabetes because it's helping someone for sure. I mean I got diabetes a couple yrs ago and most of these videos helped me a lot. I also found a video which also led me to use my current insulin supplement, gluconize. Keep up the good work.

Hey, I got told I didn’t have it for 2 months, then got diagnosed with 2, then a year later, rediagnosed as 1 after a severe hospitalization. If you’ve had the GAD test and tested negative, ask to have your islet cells and zinc transporter antibodies tested as well. 25% of type ones, especially those with LADA (including me) just have a different antibody and those 2 are the 2nd and 3rd most prevalent.
@DanielleFerreira-uk9yt2 жыл бұрын
Also, in the meantime, highly recommend switching to a low carb diet if you have no other recourse- it’s not a permanent fix but can make you feel better for the time being. If you have a glucometer, test a lot. Gather data and keep a journal. Many diabetics do this and it’s really helpful to get a doctor’s attention. If you’re really spiking after meals that’s a pretty good sign you don’t have enough insulin rather than being resistant.

I became type 2 diabetic in 2021. I refused meds and said I would change my diet and that's what I did. I reversed it 4 months later. I lost a lot of weight quickly. I only eat food I make myself. At the beginning my body and brain were in a battle but I stuck rigid to it and eventually my body and brain clicked into sync. My body now looks amazing and I feel fantastic. The only treat I eat daily is a homemade flapjack and I make a batch of one week's worth. Weirdly my eyesight has improved, but here is the kicker. This is a lifelong dietary change, it's not something I can dip in and out of and it takes discipline. I don't crave sugar anymore, but I feel like a 25 year old in a body that now only looks like the body of a 25-30 year old in peak physical form and I'm 59. I keep a photo of myself on the fridge to remind myself how I used to look. It's a great motivator to keep on track. Exercise wise, I walk just 20 minutes a day at a fast enough pace to get my heart rate up. Now I do intermittent fasting and don't have breakfast until mid morning and don't eat after 8pm. All I can say is it's like I have shed the body of an old avatar and I am in a new fresh body full of energy. It's like I have been reborn.

Seems you have been hit by bots. That sucks. However what I say is to just try and live normal. You should most likely not eat a bunch of stuff filled with sugar. Remember that juice and milk is just sugar. Read the nutrition labels and look for carbohydrates. You should also cook your own food as much as possible and keep away from semi-finished products when cooking. They have most likely stuffed those things full of sugar. Remember that diabetes is not a allergic reaction to sugar. You are not allergic to sugar. To avoid sugar and carbohydrates at all costs isn't healthy in itself. However in today's society most people should most likely benefit from cutting down on it a lot. The best recommendation to give is to simply live a healthy life. Healthy diet. Healthy exorcise and so on. Do not eat in excess but think about what, how much and when you eat something. As a type-1 you simply have to manage what the body should have managed itself. You only need to remember to ALWAYS do it and not be lazy about taking insulin.

I was diagnosed with type 1 at age 31 in 2019. No family history. Symptoms came up quick. Dropped from my standard weight of 160 lbs to 143 lbs within a couple weeks. Major symptoms for me were waking up to take a piss literally 5-7 times per night. Pissing the bed. A raw fruity smell from the breath and body. Jock itch. And taking a good 10 minutes to be able to lift myself out of bed in the morning. You'll know if there's an issue.

The pancreas makes insulin to help with sugars in the body? So, if take insulin that means my own pancreas need not have to make insulin. So, anything my body makes I do not have to purchase. Now this sounds like a vicious cycle. Lets get everyone into diabetes so now we can sell more insulin. With insurance companies or without. There is no one set price for insulin. People are generally lazy, so they eat what they want and do not execrise. So, diabetes is going to happen to us in one form or another as we age. Testing needs to happen for a diagnosis. In order to find out, what stage of diabetes you are at. And you can purchase insulin and know how much to take according to your sugar levels testing. Endless cycle. Enjoy life while you are young!! The struggle is real! Peace!
