Very well explained Dr. Mohan. I learned everything you said 3 yrs ago. At first it's so hard, but later on it's so ok to do it. I'm no longer taking medicines for diabetes, i just take vitamins and just eat the right food you are suggesting, a little exercise, and i feel ok. I hope everyone will follow your advice. Just be determined of what you do and eat, everything will be ok. GOD bless everyone...

Listened to you, Dr. Mohan. Am a qualified nutritionist too. There's an interesting input I'd like to add here, after listening - and that is that diabetic control is directly related to the average daily diet in our society; food is such an EMOTIVE ISSUE in Indian families.... It has become synonymous with being cultured, being a family oriented person, being a good hostess at home, being a ' homely and obedient daughter in law, even to the point of 'judging someone as ' living life fully' OR THE CONTRARY!!! Eating to live is perceived as miserly, questioning and changing patterns of eating for the family disturbs and upsets members..... UNTIL disease comes knocking

This is a honest doctor. I am a Type 2 diabetic for the past 25 years and am very healthy now because I do not touch wheat (gluten), milk from wheat-fed animals, any kind of sugar, soy, processed foods, MSG, and anything in packets, cans and bottles, alcoholic beverages, chocolates (cadmium) and fruits high in sugar. I exercise daily sometimes twice a day. I also add real sea salt to all my meals as being diabetic means that my body is in a state of insulin sensitivity and needs salt. Caffeine is a huge salt waster and I restrict my caffeine intake to only once in the morning. Cheers!

BANG ON!! Finally a Diabetic Doc who Speaks Sense. My Grand Mother lived till 82 with Diabetes & BP . However she was consistent with the diet until 81. She replaced sugar with sweetex drops for every day tea. Ate a plate full of Rice & Fish every afternoon. Dinner was light vegetables or soup. Most importantly NEVER seen her Stressed only Praying. Never seen her exercise either. Had a maid to do household chores aswell. Back then there was no way to monitor sugar or BP everyday or regularly. So I guess the Golden Rule would be to Become a Disciplined Diabetic. Eat Simple & Limited. Avoid sweets except occasionally. Don't Stress Hand over to GOD what you cannot handle. Get Early to bed & be Early to rise. Exercise moderately every morning.
