And then you would critisize him for not being a good shooter. Kinda like allegedly fans critisize Westrook for exemple. If you all wanted a shooter, blame your management for drafting à non shooting G/F 😅 I mean, blaming one guy for his lack of shooting, bad offensive series despite him locking down Trae Young really well is easier than the management who got rid of 1st picks for nothing, letting JJ or Butler go, sending away Bridges to the Suns, etc.. I guess.

Ben’s refusal to work on his game and turn his weaknesses into strengths is why. Philly prides people that work hard.. Ben thought he could just stay the same even though his shooting weaknesses got exposed in the playoffs every year. Joel’s right, there was no changes in his game, no improvement on that end. His defense improved tremendously no question about that but because of the offseason workout videos of him actually shooting from 3, the NBA world was expecting that in the regular and postseason. When it was nowhere to be seen, then problems started arising🤷🏾‍♂️

You can not guard him on the perimeter and if he gets the ball out there it doesn't even matter if no one is even 10 feet from him. Just shoot means just take it when they leave you out there alone like when Giannis gets left alone. Ben on offense is like having Deandre Jordan with passing and dribbling. Ben is a really good basketball player. I'm a Hawks fan, and I can tell you, he was really the key for us to getting the win. He was barely guarded the whole series, and when he refused to go up on Trae, thats when I first expected something was terribly wrong. Here's the thing, Ben may be a great passer and have high court awareness, but you can't be a great playmaker and have no way of putting the ball in the hoop outside of right in front of the basket. Look at Jason Kidd, while he wasn't good at 3d, he had a pretty good mid range game and was serviceable from 3. Steve Nash was able to find his way to the line and sink free throws, as well as being able to shoot on the floor. Jason Williams, beast of a playmaker, could knock down floaters, free throws, etc. The point is if you look at the great playmakers in NBA history, they also have another thing that makes them a threat to go along side their passing ability. And in my opinion, Ben doesn't have that. I would love for him to, but he just... doesn't.. try

The Ben Simmons saga explained: Thought they were getting the next Lebron, but instead got Tony Allen. Simply put, the Ben Simmons that Philly wanted was not the player he was ever going to be. A big red flag should have been when Ben went to LSU instead a top flight college team. It should have tipped you off that the kid didn't care about winning and NO ONE survives in Philly if they accept losing.

Philadelphia fans are misunderstood. When you want someone to be better, that’s a sign of love not hate. We gave Ben a chance, he chose not to even try to shoot and trolled every offseason purposely. He cares about the money and the fame more than winning. Joel has taken the time to understand the fan base, and once you understand you realize it’s not hateful or malicious as people project. It’s not the fact that he couldn’t shoot, it’s that we see the talent and believe he can shoot, but that he’s not trying and that’s where it’s unacceptable. Never change, big fella.

All that I could emphasize with but his behavior in the off season was completely disrespectful to his teammates and the franchise. So overall I'm mixed with Simmons I'm glad he has moved to another franchise and we were able to salvage some value from him. Fans were a little hard on him but he never really improved. I love that an actual past teammate in JJ actually doesnt just say the things that will be popular for us philly fans, and said the truth that simmons did improve so much, just not in the facet that uneducated basketball fans focus on. embiid has matured which is great, you can tell he misses ben as a teammate and always reminds everyone how what they did together is why they were contenders in the first place, but i feel like ben is far more the mature one that hasnt even said one word about joel. imagine so many people attacking you and you show such strength to not insult to anyone, simmons is a class act! I disagree, most fans acknowledge Ben’s improved defensively but offensively has actually taken a step back, doesn’t make you uneducated to point it out, both can be the same, bottom line it became more of a focus during the playoff when he wouldn’t shoot or be aggressive for fear of being fouled. Ben gets no maturity points on my end as he ignored teammates (including Joel who tried to talk to him) and pouted his way out of town, a critique of your game is not attacking you, like Joel said, booing means I’m not playing well or hard enough, that’s a leader, personal perspective and accountability is more mature than silence
