Thank you! I took off the plastic top on the self propelled covering using your instructions and saw the inside filled with grass & it knocked the belt off the pully. I cleaned it all out, put the belt back on, screwed it back together & it works like new again! You saved me $400! Thank you!!!

There are a few videos here about this mower and this belt. This is the best one. This guy actually knew what he was doing. The other guys were just stabbing around until they got the machine apart. Clank! Boing! Ouch!

I have re-watched this video a few times and can not thank you enough because I had mine (same model) slip off the front pulley. Did exactly what you said to do and now it's running better than ever. I paid $100 for this Troybilt a few years back and has been truly the best mower I ever had. Thank you, thank you, thank you 😘

Wow, thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips: I hope my lawnmower will easy for me. I picked up a 2011 Troy-Bilt Model #12AGA26E011, Serial #1A191KC0892, from my neighborhood Curb Store approximately 10 months ago. I have been slowly making progress as life permits me: initially the lawnmower wouldn't start with the key ignition because it needed fuel. I added the gasoline and I was able to start the engine with both the key and pullcord. We were heading into winter, so I stowed it in the garage. Winter came and past then spring arrived and I decided to work on the lawnmower in the middle of spring. In mid May 2023, I found the correct charging cable that was with the lawnmower and attempted to charge the battery, but it wouldn't hold a charge. I removed the old battery, a Duracell DURA12-5F 12V 5Ah Ultra AGM Sealed Lead Battery and installed the new battery, a Lithonia 12V 5Ah AGM Sealed Lead Battery. I poured a small amount of gasoline into the fuel tank and tested the key ignition and it started . I think 2 days later, I removed the charging cable and plug from the lawnmower, removed the air filter and inspected, I removed the engine cover, cleaned dirt and debris from the assessible parts. I disconnected the ignition cables and reconnected the cables and reassembled the engine cover and air filter. I changed out the engine oil by tipping over onto the side, then with the lawnmower upright I added fresh oil and approximately 2 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil, I added gasoline to the fuel tank, I reconnected the battery and attempted to start the engine with the ignition key and it failed to start - I could not get it to start with the pull start either. I once again stowed it in the garage thinking that I may have broke it. Approximately 6-weeks later I decide to take another stab at the lawnmower. I disconnected the ignition cables from the connection points and reconnected them back - kind of like disconnecting the cables to the my computer's hard drive and reconnecting it. I removed the battery and 40-amp fuse then reinstalled the batter and fuse: I then connected the new battery to the terminals hooked it to the charging cable for 24-hours. In hindsight, I should have changed the oil first before I put gasoline in the fuel tanks because unknowingly I flood the carburetor. This past Saturday, July 01, 2023, I topped off the gasoline tank and test started the lawnmower with key ignition - it started, but then I learned that the self-propelled power on the front axle was not engaging.

I like the term "curb store"! Lol... I have shopped there myself... Sounds like you've almost got it ironed out. The self propelled could be a belt problem or it could be something within the wheels themselves. If the belt looks ok, I'd remove the wheels and see if there's anything obvious going on there...

When removing the blade do I need to just disconnect the spark plug or completely remove it? Love your show, great help. I’m not mechanically inclined. You make it simple and straightforward. Keep it up👍 ! I give you 5 ⭐️’s…
@JLPicard4405 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it. Only disconnecting it is necessary. The chances of the mower inadvertently starting up while you're removing the blade is probably more than 1 million to 1.... But if there's any chance whatsoever, it only takes a few seconds, then there's no chance... 😊

I have a 2007 Troy-bilt self propelled 675 series mower and I've had to recently learn about all this as the belt broke. My transmission cover has only 2 screws and the retaining clip is a single. The belt is guided by two flanges from the pulley mount. The plate under the blade is actually metal. The front wheels level lever are also metal. Just differences I'm noticing in design. The design was simpler in 2007 and some parts I wouldn't think would be replaced by plastic have been. Interesting to see and wonder how much life there is between the two designs per part.
@JLPicard4404 ай бұрын
Interesting points. Metal will definitely last longer than plastic! You have to ask yourself... If you're a satellite manufacturer how much plastic (on important parts) would you send in space??!! I guess they have to build in some failure points so you either have to buy parts or get a new lawnmower... 😟

My front wheels got out of alignment. I lined all of the plastic tabs up right and it immediately got back of. I've attempted to fix it 3 times and can't figure it out. That's the only thing I dislike about the front height adjustment being together instead of each wheel independently.

@@JLPicard440 My Troy bilt self propelled would not move. I replaced the belt and nothing happened so I went to my local small-engine repair shop and they suggested that the pulley on he crankshaft was worn. I replace that and still nothing. Then I got to thinking this machine is 17 years old and has not given me one bit of trouble, what could it be? After a couple of beers I thought that just maybe it needs lubricating. I lifted it and gave a couple generous shots of WD40 and now it works fine. Moral of my story is do the easy and cheap repairs first.
