My answers: 1) Incorrect --> I knew Hon beans book, I heard honya means bookstore but wasn't super sure, and then those "midori yama, eki no tonari" created confusion and took my focus away from the Honya, haha. 2) correct --> I understood 'yukkuri tabetai desu kara', he'd prefer to eat slowly together, and the concert is in 2 o'clock, so he suggested 30 minutes before 3) correct 4) correct 5) correct

I asked chat gpt about it and it said it adds the nuance that they are trying to be earlier in order to have 30 minutes extra time after this event and before the next event. It would be good if a native speaker could clarify if that’s right though.

I feel that grammar is way more important for speaking and reading than listening. As long as you understand the context, you can more or less determine what you are hearing by relying strongly on vocab. IRL anyway. Not so much for the JLPT though because they specifically lay traps for you to catch you out. So you gotta be on point.

someone's probably said this before, but I think it's funny on question 3, you could easily translate the girl's response to being asked for snacks ("you don't want any snacks?") as a casual "yeah, that's okay/I'm good (on snacks)." which also has a refusing connotation in english (especially depending on the tone if you translate as "that's okay"). casual japanese and casual english actually have quite a bit in common!!

@@yogitaumavane6300 Yeah, the translation I had in my head was that かばん meant bag but I think the key point we may have missed is that かばん is usually not used for bags that are flimsy and don't close (like the smallest plastic bag we see). Instead, it's used to refer to bags that can be closed and have a more firm structure to them.
