Something about her telling that guy she wanted to write his mother a letter for being such a great guy really touches me.

Some people thought she was cruel but she was a comedian she went where people where scared to go. She did so much for charity I remember watching her reality show and she would be signing checks to charity and her people that needed. Even being in her 70’s she worked hard hard to provide not only for her family but for charity too.

And you travel across KZbin in this time and space looking for the great laughs, because they are so needed. And there just has not been tonight. When ones job is communicating with people you deliver to.....and suddenly that gets cut off. EVERYTHING is done contactless. You see folks from your vehicle or from 8 - 10 feet away. It makes it raw and real that I do not have my Joan, Don, Robin, no one that can just bring it into a place of warmth and laughter, because they are gone too. I think I miss them now more than I ever could. No one is here to bring us through with laughter and smiles anymore. And it just breaks the heart even more.

1:58 in a time where people were going with the narrative that God was punishing gay people for being gay with AIDS, Joan was one of the good ones that realized that her good friends were dying from a disease a new pandemic. She's a remarkable woman and was a light for those suffering and still today at the beginning of the AIDS crisis.

Oh my goodness, here I am again, realizing that I've already commented haha. I think about this time to time and get a smile. I remember seeing this bit when it aired, it was just casually on in the living room and it made me realize that Joan cared for gay people. That meant a lot to me at the time, I was just getting old enough to see how people reacted to gay people and seeing someone being so loving and showing so much compassion really stayed with me all these years. Hence why I'm here now, again haha.
