Joanna, you are doing a great job. You’re kind, genuine, love your husband and adore your kids. Stop mom guilting yourself. I have 3 kids that are grown. My last will leave for college this fall. These messes will be gone before you know it. Live in your home, laugh, have fun, create memories. Your house may be messy but it is NOT dirty, filthy, not in your craziest messy videos. Your home is gorgeous and I love your videos, you’re perfect and we are always a work in progress, don’t let anyone make you feel bad. If cleaning for your kids makes you happy, do it. I promise these times will fly by and you won’t remember the messy house, just the laughs and fun you had. Thank you for sharing your family with us! 💕😁

Your house looks like a home, not a store. To me that is how it should be. I LOVE your house and the dat you can see someone enjoyed to color or play. Dishwasher, I never pre-rince and I put everything in there. Pots pans, the lot. Always comes out clean and smelling clean and dry. I love Beau being with you while you puck up your bedroom. Lovely little buddy. Your kids are so cute! Your family is lovely. Blessed 🤗

Just remember, messes mean you have children and live. Someday you will turn around and your house will be spotless, but the children will be gone. Enjoy those messes. They are a blessing.

Oh sweet baby doll! I’ve watched when your house is “trashed” & if I came over I would still think yours was cleaner than mine!!! I’m an ER nurse & my husband a cop..our house sucks most of the time! Our kids help out but let’s be honest..the time it takes to hear them grumble & fight w each other when they have to clean isn’t worth it..sometimes doing it yourself is so much easier! You are totally normal & killing it! I get so much inspiration from your videos so don’t question yourself! You are a wife & mom first!...houses will be messy...but I know you’d rather have a trashed house & happy kiddos!!! It makes it all worth it when one of my kiddos says, “thanks for cleaning mom” or “I needed my blue shirt! It was clean in my drawer!” I giggle inside thinking “you have no idea what I went through to get that blue shirt clean in your drawer!!!” Love you!!!

This video right here is why you and your videos are one of my very favorites! You’re so honest and relatable and I often find myself shaking my head and saying “yes” when you’re talking...I agree with it all! I, too, do more for my kids than I probably should but I just LOVE making them feel loved and taken care of and when they come from school to clean spaces at home, I feel like it’s their safe haven and the place the feel most comfortable.😀 Thank you for being YOU Joanna!

What I teach my kids is the "one touch rule" you walk in the door and take off your shoes and put them away right then. You get out a snack, you toss the wrapped right after you open it, etc etc with everything.

I too am constantly just shifting things around from place to place. I know we talk about it all the time but it never ends. Something has to give. I believe in you!! At least you have your life together in so many other ways! I mean, look at your kids drawers and that killer organization! That's a massive win in my book! Love you, friend! You was talking about moving things from place to place when you clean...I felt like I was always doing that too...until a few years ago when I was organizing . I realized that everything needs to be assigned a home. If it has a home it can be put away easily. If it's not important enough to be assigned a home then it's not worth keeping. This has greatly helped us keep our house neater and clutter free.

I feel the same way about my house. I have two daughters and most of the time it's easier to do it myself then stress myself out fighting with them to help me. When they do help I end up going back and doing it over anyway because I don't feel like it's clean like I would do it. I feel you girl.

One of the things that really helped my peace of mind in 2019 was to downsize the amount of 'stuff' I had. By having fewer things it has been easier to find a home for it all and therefore it takes less effort to tidy. I have found it much less stressful. I reduced my closet by 1/3, got rid of all the duplicate things in my kitchen (I had 3 cheese graters, about 20 mismatched glasses and a ton of Tupperware lids without matching boxes) and invested in organising bins. I did it little by little throughout the year, redoing it periodically as I got better at letting go of things, and I'm now in a much better place. You could try this for the first 3 months of 2020, maybe just concentrating on one thing such as closets, and see how it works for you
@Joybug_515 жыл бұрын
In the long run, your kids will remember that their lives were carefree and secure at home. It never hurts to love them enough to want to do for them. As for clearing clutter, or minimalizing, a family of six clearly has more stuff than a household with two people. Just remove things as you discover they are giving you more work than pleasure; so your storage area will be cleared at the point when you are ready. Love to see you plowing through.

I still clean my daughter's room. She's the last one home, she's 20, I have 4 kids, and it really bugs me when some of my (childless) friends gets on me about it. I am also cleaning a lot with two kids so I understand, and yes, schedule really helps, because this way you don't have to keep in your mind all the tasks and you see easier what is more important at the moment 😉 and do not compare your house to others. You are unique so stay yourself 🤩
@carolynshane2955 жыл бұрын
I completely relate!! 🙌 it’s discouraging at times. Decluttering is probably the most helpful tip but you’ve already been doing that so that’s a great start!! I think the biggest thing for my family is making sure we all get in the habit of putting things back where they belong *right away*. (Key word right away lol). It takes getting used to especially if you aren’t used to doing it that way but that has helped so much with our random clutter. Also if you put it in the same place each time so things are less likely to get lost 😅 (which is also an issue for us). You are so real and it is so refreshing. Congrats on your success after just one year on KZbin!! Here’s to many more successful years!! 🥳

Girl even as a minimalist (in progress) my house is a mess too. I was just sick and had a sick 9 month old. My house is literally trashed right now and i don't know if i should record how it looks and show me cleaning it. I found that some people who are also minimalists aren't s forgiving, but a lot of them don't have kids. We just do the best that we can. You are killing it, also your house is very beautiful, don't stress yourself out too much to keep it clean.

I'm so glad I found you on KZbin!!! I feel the same way about my kids helping and tasks like putting away their laundry. I wanted to encourage you in a way that I found balance with this: I have a small dollar tree basket for each of my kids that when I sort out their clean laundry I put their undies, pjs, and socks in the basket for them to stuff in their dresser and I put away the hanging stuff (shirts, pants, and shorts). Maybe you can find some release in that too. It gives them some responsibility but I also get my perfectly organized closets. Again, I'm so glad I found you! I relate to you so much!

Whenever I have my daughters help me put their stuff away they don’t fold the clothes very well and just stuff it in the drawers and just throw the shirts on the hanger and throw it in the closet. I love them to death but it just bothers me so much. Tucking in the sheets. Same thing I’m the same way but I just started it recently especially with the flat sheet. It definitely keeps the warmth in throughout the night. And it makes the bed look a lot better.

Oh Joanna please don't be so hard on yourself. You are Amazing! My house is a disaster and I dread people coming over so I understand completely how you feel. I am slowly going through my whole house decluttering and organising, it's taking longer than I hoped it would but it needs to be done. I am learning though that once an area us sorted I need to build keeping it that way into some sort of daily or weekly routine. I'm still working on what sort of routine works best for me and my family but I will get there and so will you. What works for one person will not necessarily work for someone else. You need to find a routine that works for you and it will take a few weeks of hard work and making yourself do it before it becomes habit ❤ As to your kiddos helping more, again I understand that it's easier to do it yourself and your kiddos are still quite young, my two are 9 and nearly 12. I have started getting them to help me more with things around the house, but we do it together. I feel like if I don't show them how to do it now then when they get older they will struggle with organising and keeping things tidy because they were never shown how. Loved your video as always, don't try and be like anyone else, just be you after all you are the best version of you and that's all you need to be 💖

I grew up in a family of 6 as well, and my mom split the chores up for us kids.. but it wasn't crazy. I had the living room (dust, vacuum, pick up, and the stairs), my older sister had family room and one bathroom (the basics), my younger sister had the dining room and other bathroom (the basics) and my brother did outside chores with my dad. We had our own rooms and my mother would do laundry and fill in random chores. Kitchen was cleaned nightly after dinner by all of us. Every Saturday, we deep cleaned our chore and my mom would switch it up on occasion if needed. It really worked amazing.
