Sad to hear professional courtesy is no longer worth anyone's time. I was appalled how discourteous companies have become as candidates are often left hanging or worse ghosted after an interview. No follow-up in my opinion appears inept, unprofessional and rude. Today, everyone is just too "busy" to bother being polite? Being appropriate and respectful is now detrimental? Sending a thank you email makes you a nuisance? Don't call us, we'll call you? Wow! 😳
@chienandy59585 жыл бұрын
You really don't have to expect the hiring manager or HR will spend time and effort to reply to your email since the most important thing is to perform well during the interview. You just have to remember the principle, keep looking for jobs if you haven't get offer letters. It's not the about whether it is appropriate or respectful, but to be effective and impressive.
@MsBernadettex5 жыл бұрын
HMH i know. I have never been ‘ghosted’ on job applicAtion but i can understand your point. They should have at least have a generic email stating that you did not make it and send it out to every body that really did not make it to the post. So applicant will not left hanging and wondering whats what
@reeshaaa89523 жыл бұрын
@@chienandy5958 that too is very important. But companies should be mindful of the candidates instead of just ghosting. Maybe the candidate was struggling and a little compassion from their end goes a long way.

I’m not so sure about this advice, I guess it really depends on the employer. I don’t think a friendly reminder or staying in contact for future positions is a bad thing. In fact I have had employers call me months later about a new position because I sent a follow up email.
@rayititoman5 жыл бұрын
I always send a follow up message after an interview. And, as Linda says: personalized, thanking him/her for their time and how I would be a great asset for the team. If I performed poorly in the interview, I wouldn't expect a reverse change just for sending a follow up e-mail, BUT I think you can re-affirm to the employer that you're enthusiastic and have a keen interest on the job (not just because you need the salary to pay bills).

The information is so contradictory on the internet. I have been watching these videos to prepare for my interview and many experts says it's nice to send a Thankyou email. In fact many employers don't even care about you if you haven't sent one. Sending a Thankyou note means you are still interested and enthusiastic about the role.

Procrastination pays at times. Just when l was about to send an email to follow up on an interview after one week of procrastination, the a Recruiter sent me an email notifying me that the role was filed and they are considering me for a more senior role and the next step is to do next round of interview 🤷🏻♂️

I definitely stand by sending at least a thank you email after interviews. Managers are very very busy and when they conduct interviews it takes more manpower than we imagine. Showing appreciation will not hurt you, but only show you have good manners. This is the first career video I’ve seen that is against sending thank yous or follow ups..
@tresakidd8774 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I think it sets a good example to send a brief and sincere thank you. Mentioning something discussed during the interview and reinterating your excitement. My point being on my job when I DO get a rare thank you email it feels really nice. My humble opinion. Thanks !
@cs52503 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with this and I'm open to feedback, but I think that it respectful to follow up within 24 hours after the interview and then again 1 week later if you haven't heard back. This is assuming they don't provide a timeline. I will always follow up to show my interest in the job and company vs someone who doesn't and waits for an answer. I see both sides of the argument but if it were between two qualified applicants, I would rather be the one who showed drive than the one who didn't.

Hi Linda. I have a quick question for you. I interviewed for a dental practice office manager position on May 1st and although I have no dental experience and limited management experience they liked me. However they scheduled the next round of interviews just recently after contacting a few of my references. Next meeting is June 20th! Plus it will be at a restaurant and another candidate finalist is joining us. I’ve never been asked to do this before and think it’s very unusual. I’m still very much interested in the job but I don’t like the long waiting or this awkward situation. How would you handle this type of meeting?
@deddywirata37195 жыл бұрын
The item 2 did not work with the company I applied few months ago. After the interview, eventhough he said that there would be an answer in a week, but in the actual, there was no such answer. Even I had sent the follow up email, they didnt even reply me a single word 🙂 Thank you for your advice. I really found it useful.

only disclose if you need accommodations during the interview process. You can disclose after getting the offer if you need accommodations to perform the job duties. Even then, no need to disclose the actual disability, just the specific equipment/tools you need (if you already know).

@topsykretts22645 жыл бұрын
This video is on point. If you bombed the interview, no follow-up email, pain letter, or 30-60-90 day plan document is going to change the hiring manager’s mind. They’ve already made their mind up about you after the interview. Better focus on doing good in the interview first.

I am thinking of sending a follow-up email 2 days post her decision date. I am thinking of sharing a thank you note that I was given by my current director. It highlights that I am a team player, a problem solver, and have a positive attitude. Do you think this is too much?

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I met with the team yesterday to gather feedback and they had positive things to share. They thought your meetings went very well and were impressed by your strong automation knowledge. The team is still in the process of wrapping up interviews, however I did want to let you know that you are still highly considered for the role. After all interviews have been held, the team will debrief to determine next steps. I will keep you updated throughout the process, but please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like an update. Thank you again for your time. It’s been a pleasure getting to know you better!" not sure, what does that mean, and how should I reply or loose my hope on this?
