It really is a hard thing to pick yourself up after being laid off. One thing that I did was study in the week and just used Friday's to apply. I'd set a goal, say 30 applications, or contacting 20 recruiters on LinkedIn, etc and just apply all day, get out on the weekend, and study Monday to Thursday. I've been laid off a couple times. I think applying every day is just too stressful. I also treated it like work hours, I got dressed and studied (or applied, on Fridays), and then stopped at the end of an 8 hour day.

I was off work for 8 months and I didn't get 1 single face to face interview. I just turned 50 years old 2 weeks ago. Just over 3 months ago someone took a chance and hired me, and I am now earning the most money I have ever earnt, and enjoying the job immensely. I graduated a mechatronics engineering degree at 48 and started over by moving to a new state, it was not worth it until I got this job, now I am so happy I made the decision and never compromised on taking a lower job. I am a sales engineer selling high end additive printers and electronic test and measurement equipment, my wife supported me all the way.

@@Canadian-Boi- depends on the company. My team has lost some people but we're spinning up new teams offshore
