Honestly this movie is one of the better remakes out there. People are criticizing it too much over the lack of satire instead of admiring what was put in its place, which this scene perfectly shows😊 Now bout him being man or machine

It came out at a time where too many mature films where being demoted to pg13. I mean, Robocops iconic weapon was demoted to a Stun gun. If it was an original film and we were seeing Robocop for the first time I think it would have faired much better. As a reboot of the franchise it was weak in very important areas

The biggest mistake is they didn't make it R rated... but I agree, a lot of the criticism it received wasn't deserved. Like the people that complained about the black tactical suit... it actually had a meaning, they gave him that suit when they took away his free will and in the end he got it back when he was in control again. Visuals were amazing, story was also good, great cast... maybe Kinneman wasn't the best man for the job, but he did great nonetheless.

"People are criticizing it too much over the lack of satire " It wasnt just a lack of satire. It was a lack of understanding of the source material all around. Lets not beat around the bush- They took robocop and turned it into a generic Hollywood CGI action flick (Which ironically enough, is the kind of stuff the original was joking about in the first place). The most emotional scene in the reboot is of course the scene where he sees whats left of himself- and while ill readily admit that was a powerful scene, its also one of the scenes that best showcases the differences, and what the remake missed out on over the original. The reboot has almost a body-horror theme going on, "Omg my body is gone!". In the original Murphy is all but gone. We see a good cop get gunned down, and then his body gets harvested for parts to make a machine run. His brain is little more than a sack of meat used for the neurons necessary to run the machine. Obviously theres some ghostly remnants of the man that said flesh came from haunting the machine- "I can feel them, but i cant remember them". Youre left the entire time wondering the entire time how much "man" there actually is in there. Robocop is *not* murphy. Its a machine with remnants of murphy in it. Its a huge part of what makes it sad. The reboot however leaves little doubt how much of murphy is or isnt in robocop. It IS murphy. From the get go, its clear this is still murphy. Albeit OCP has the means to "override" murphy and suppress him with programing / drugs to his brain- But its clear this is murphy being suppressed by the machine he is in. So while its sad from a body horror and personal control concept- Misses the mark of the original in that regards. Its not necessarily that it was a "bad" movie. Again, it was a perfectly "Average" cgi action film of the era- It just falls short of the original it was based on, misses a few of the points, and lets itself be a reboot that served no real purpose.

To be bluntly, honest robocop, 2014. Is absolutely the best remake.

There's actually quite a few really good scenes in this movie. This is one of them. And the one where Joel Kinnaman feels the trauma of discovering what he now is. Jackie and Joel and other were fantastic. This movie surprised me!

Ya know the best part about this... is that Murphy is acting... like... well... a Police Officer. The Bot has basically two questions: Threat? Or not a Threat. And only one response to each: Kill, or no kill. Murphy, even though this is a simulation, is still taking his time. He knows he can tank a hit or two... but the best armor pales in comparison to not getting hit at all. He also doesn't just kill every target, he tases a couple of them. So why did he 'fail' the scenario? Simple: Because he didn't do it as fast as the bot, which is what he was pitted against. If he was pitted against a human officer, the results would be wildly different, and had this been real life, that would be measure. Human vs Cyborg

This is where the first cracks start to form within the film's internal logic. So Murphy is slower than a robot, _so what?_ From the company standpoint, his _only_ purpose is to serve as a concept demonstrator, to show that a robot can be used for the law enforcement purposes. In that regard, him being slower than a robot is a _good thing,_ because it demonstrates that a robot is a superior product still.

he didnt fail he achieved the objective and considering the law in the usa in the movie the robots can't be allowed to run around ,only robocop or human people so he would have won no matter what.

Sometimes holding back shows you’re human. You need to think more creatively and carefully. That’s what balances the man and the machine.

Agreed. And the thing about machines is that they lack emotions and empathy. In a hostage situation like that, it may not consider the fact that the kod may get hurt or not. In the simulation it shot the guy behind him instead of the kid. But the guy didn't kill the kid cause it was a simulation. In the real world of if his partner went down to the robot, he probably would've stabbed or shot the kid immediately

@@MrKookIt could also just be a reflex. The guy is used to showing his soldiers what they're working with, so he did it here out of habit. But he's also showing Murphy how the programming can take over, hence what happens when he pulls a gun on him.

@@JustinWawrzonek Personal opinion, but I felt like it worked quite well in a narrative context. In the first "OG" silver suit, it shows that Murphy is still somewhat in control. The droid "won" only because it's programming is that of a cold hearted soldier that's basically a FPS gamer with the invincibility hack on, going in without fear, while Murphy fell behind because he's still reacting instinctively to his cop training, and is moving like an ACTUAL human/soldier would. In the black "Neo" suit, he's no longer in complete control, put in the passenger seat like the good doctor said. He's basically become the same as the droids, but given the illusion of free will. He has become just another tool of OCP.

Based on the way that guy's body turned they wouldn't be able to shake hands (they'd be shaking hands with the same side, you need to shake hands with opposite sides).

My question is, is the silver suit has some CG effect? That cut out shoulder I mean. Midway, it was changed to that sleek black suit, lore wise, the decision seem random and sudden - but the black suit has no cut out shoulder - so in real life the actor can just put on a suit without CG. But if that silver suit isn't CG, why the change?

One thing that made the old movie to stand was the satire and lack of humanity in the corporations and lack of resolutions. Only one could have made the remake in a way that could be awesome and I believe it would have been Neil Blomkamp

Is it a great Robocop reboot: Hell No Is it a good robocop movie: No Is it an ok ok Robocop movie: Ok Did all the actors do a great job: ABSOLUTELY!!!! This movie lacked soul and felt synthetic plastered with CGI VFX.....nothing cinematic worthy. What could've been a redeemable: a great score with wavering emotional graphs....that is what the original 87 excelled over others.... Final comments: ......you get a better story, kick and vindication with the game Robocop Rogue city. PS - I had waited so badly for this movie and was so let down along with the live action TMNT......the saving grace for 2014 was Godzilla

Enjoyed this movie. Don't care according to some people it didn't live up to the original. Most remakes don't. That said, this movie embarks on a journey of what's in store for us human beings, in a world of corporate digital control and greed. In my eyes, this is a one heck of a metaphor for Bill Gates and His shenanigans regarding implanting people with chips and using digital tattoos on them, 3D printed synthetic meat... Essentially "placing people's lives in a bottle" and where press and every other form of media, is in the pocket of Corporate Deep State.
