I have to think that when Val Kilmer says "You have 30 of my seconds, Thrill me." it is a nod to one of Shane Black's friend's project "Night of the Creeps". Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is fantastic and has become an annual favorite.

Shane Black ROCKS. I had friends that worked on Lethal Weapon 2 and 3 and I was made aware of a moment in the original Lethal Weapon script that described Riggs and Murtaugh driving up to the home of a crime kingpin like this, "They pull up to the kind of house that I will buy after I sell this script." Every Christmas I have a Shane Black marathon. He really likes this holiday. Can't wait to see what you do with "Nice Guys".

I was lucky enough to have read BOTH the script for Kiss, Kiss Bang Bang AND The Nice Guys wayyyyyy back in 2003. One right after the other in the same night. It had bee so long since The Long Kiss Goodnight that I was jonesin for a Shane Black script. Can you tell I am a huge fan? Both scripts were among the very best I had ever read. His 2003 version of The Nice Guys is so much better than the movie, it's ridiculous. I was also lucky to have seen Kiss Kiss the day it opened. Of course, I had to drive two hours to see it, but it was worth it! It's probably the script of his that changed the least from page to screen. Luckily for all of us, Black just finished writing and directing a movie for Amazon with Mark Wahlberg based on a Donald E. Westlake novel that should premiere in 2025! Can't wait.

My buddy and I were looking for a movie to watch in the theaters, and we hadn't heard of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, but watched the trailer. We instantly knew we had to see it. We saw it in the theater. It became one of our favorite movies. I love quoting "who taught you math?" and other quotes. Everyone I've recommended to watch it, has loved it. It's in my Christmas rotation every year. After watching it, and then hearing RDJ was being cast in Iron Man, and seeing that trailer, I was so stoked for Iron Man, even though I was not a comic book reader. RDJ's career is so amazing, from Back To School, Weird Science, Air America, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man, just love seeing the success he has had after his early troubles.

I had to drive 2.5 hours to a theater that was showing this. And it was worth every second of the 5 hour round trip. Bought it the day it dropped on DVD as well. One of my top ten films of all time.

RDJ being a controversial choice for Tony Stark is wild in hindsight, not the least of which because he had the look and the personal experience to tap into for Stark's reckless behavior and personal issues. It's one of those uncomfortable questions: would RDJ have been able to play Tony Stark so well if his own life hadn't been so messed up for awhile? Regardless, I look forward to seeing his take on Doom.
@LucyLioness10018 күн бұрын
Shane deliberately took a chance on RDJ & said if he messed up he (Shane) would personally cover any issue that arose. He saw potential in RDJ’s career coming back after such a dark time which was why RDJ called him in to do “Iron Man 3” since Favreau was making “Chef” at the time

Love this film, in my top 5 for sure I often go back and watch it. Shane black basically did everything you are ment to not do in a script, Voice over all the way through it, gay masculine character, bumbling idiot main character that had 0 skills, strong female character before it was forced down our throats. Did it right too, not a Mary Sue....she makes mistakes and messes up. Yet it was amazing, one of the best written films out there. I often recommend it to people and they always end up letting me know how much they loved it. It's a great film, Downey and kilma were awesome in this great chemistry.

Thanks for making me watch this movie again. Seriously, Thank you. I had caught this as a Netflix DVD rental, and was so engrossed and impressed with every aspect of this film. The Shane Black's script was made for Robert and Val command of witty banter. Definitely one of my favorite Val Kilmer and RDJ roles. RDJ followed up with A Scanner Darkly the following year did indeed set the stage for his comeback. I've always wondered if South Parks' Trey Parker & Matt Stone also found inspiration (or paid homage to) KKBB, for their ManBearPig seemed to be the insert monster to the 'I'm an actress' girl at the opening party scene.
