It’s a shame they cut electros backstory scenes, because in the deleted scenes they had scenes showing how electro was forced to take care of his mother (despite her also treating him horribly) and all which would’ve helped the audience sympathize with him. @@ericdxfan511 500 Days of Summer is a comedy drama Also, just because someone did drama, doesn't mean he couldn't explore other genres. Todd Philips did Joker in case you remember. Even with Arad ruining everything with his inclusion of The Lizard, Webb was still able to make him extremely convincing.

ericdxfan511 Hey! That romance was way better than the one in the Sam Raimi trilogy. The romance between Peter and Mary Jane in the original is one of the worst elements of the trilogy. It’s the one that’s aged the most badly. It’s now on Twilight levels of cringe. Whereas the romance between Peter and Gwen felt more organic and believable. It helps that the actors were dating in real life so it helps really make their chemistry genuine compared to Maguire and Dunst where they feel more forced to have some connection and say some romantic lines and since the romantic dialogue comes off as awkward and corny, the chemistry between them doesn’t feel as genuine. I’m not believing these 2 have a connection. I’m believing the actors are being forced to have a connection when they clearly don’t have any for each other based on their performances.
@ericdxfan511
@ericdxfan511 4 жыл бұрын
@@hunterolaughlin Atleast Peter and Mary Jane had flaws like an actual relationship that they had to work on. There was absolutely nothing to Peter and Gwen, everything they could've done with those two from the comics, they threw it all away and wrote themselves in a corner (Peter never revealed his secret identity to Gwen in the 616 comics) because they didn't want Gwen to look bad. Gwen was a Mary Sue and are you really going to act like Peter and Gwen didn't have cringeworthy scenes? Most of their scenes together in TASM2 were awful and then they botched the death of Gwen Stacy.
@hunterolaughlin
@hunterolaughlin 4 жыл бұрын
ericdxfan511 Bullsh*t! Peter and Gwen’s relationship was improved on from the comics at the very least. Mary and Peter’s relationship was much better in the comics and even in the animated shows. Heck, even B. Parker’s relationship with Mary Jane from his universe, despite the two being divorced, felt more genuine than Dunst and Maguire’s. Maguire’s and Dunst’s relationship will always be 💩. It doesn’t help that throughout the original trilogy, Mary Jane is always in a relationship with other guys and she even rubbed her announcement of proposing to his boss’s son John Jameson in the second film. She’s really a jerk to Peter throughout the trilogy. Heck, she didn’t try to help him find ways to make their relationship work. She just dumped him and went after his boss’s son. It doesn’t help that Peter is struggling with maintaining a part time job and his college life because of his job as Spider-Man. So worse time to dump him. I don’t want what you’re smoking to see how Dunst and Maguire’s relationship is better. I think you’re too attached to your nostalgia goggles to see the obvious faults. Give them! *Takes nostalgia goggles and smashes them with a hammer* . It’s time for you to stop looking at things through nostalgia goggles and actually look at them through the eyes of an adult. If you want to be, that is.

Sony tried to create a whole cinematic universe based on one character...and not only that, they tried to make a 2 hours long trailer to show it. The movie tanked so badly, they had to cancel any future installments, and sit down with Disney to make a "shared custody deal", because while it made some money at the BO, the movie was insanely expensive to make, especially in the marketing department.

I loved the first ASM, and I loved bits of this sequel too- every time Peter and Gwen were together was superb for example. However, the way it was over-stuffed and the poor villains ruined it overall. I still think Andrew Garfield was the best Peter Parker and Spiderman we've had- he feels the closest to the cartoons I grew up with in the 90s, even though I loved Toby Maguire too. The current Spiderman by Tom Holland is alright, but he's nothing compared to the former two, feeling to me, like his character is bogged down by the MCU and made to be to much of an underdog. I really hope the next film rectifies this...

I recall catching a commercial for it at the gym and in that 10 or 15 second commercial they showed the Rhino, Electro, Goblin and the teaser shots of Doc Ocks' tentacles, and the vulture suit. I thought wow, they made a sinister six film! Time to watch the film and realize they showed the brief 2 second setup scenes. So the audience went in expecting one thing, but just got a very poorly constructed setup for it instead. Maybe if Electro wasn't done as bad as he was it could've saved the movie. I don't know much about Electro from the comics but I don't think he was mentally challenged--that would be more a Gargan/Scorpion character trait.

The first 2 Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi, at first, they gave Sam nearly complete control over the movie and plot itself. The first 2 were paced spectacularly. That fight scene between SM and Green Goblin was really brutal for a PG-13, and had it not been for Raimi giving into the MPAA's demand of censoring the blood for spit, SM would've been given a very weak R rating, unheard of in comic book movies. The reason Spider-Man 3 was so bad after the first 2 were amazing boils down to Sony's need for control. Sony cut Raimi's creative freedom so hard that Raimi spited them. Raimi had plans for a 4th Spidey so that it would give adequate plot time between Venom and Sandman, but Sony refused to budge. By the time shooting started, the SM3 script was damn-near entirely rewritten, adding another 3 unscheduled months to production, forcing the crew and cast to work twice as long to get the shooting done without having to rush anything. By the time the movie was out in theaters, Sony said the movie was so bad that they'd never hire Sam to direct again, which ended up being a mutual decision. Sam Raimi got paid, then left Sony Pictures without another word.

Spiderman 3 got its problems but at least Raimi tried to finish his work into a coherent story. In this one they basically added content as much as they could and just left everything else for the sequels but forgetting something important: a plot

I didn't mind this movie but I enjoyed the silver age comics of him even tho they were so cheesey at times. His back amd forth with the human torch led to some deep insight into Spidey. This movie catered a bit to those comics in which spider man was more of a tortured soul. The lack of character building was okay to me as they probably expected the viewers to know them already. Plus Uncle Ben barely was in the OG comics and never said "with great powers comes great responsibilities." That was some new age crap. The parents backstory in this, although not canon, was kind of cool. I see why ppl like the new tom holland starred ones more as it appeals to mainstream audiences but this mildly resembled the real comic spidey more. He was like a fake Batman then. He even had a spidey signal light like the bat signal,lol.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is officially 10 years old!!! Made $709 million worldwide even if the reception was mixed It stinks Andrew Garfield admitted SONY intentionally removed key portions of scenes and development also due to the SONY hack Even a deleted scene in the graveyard with Peters father all of a sudden appearing was mind blowing...it's a shame because we get some really good acting from Garfield himself but the scene wouldve felt unearned if it was left in Here it feels like they went back to the colorful fun tone of the Raimi trilogy, that 2012 movie was too much like Batman and almost made me officially give up wanting to see this character on the screen again I thank god they got back on track this time around; the suit feels more like it was right out of the pages of the comic, the POV swinging shots are incredible, my dad loved being a part of the action which is amazing to look at, the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is the highlight of the movie The romance is so cute and the movie centers around it so much I actually did get teary eyed seeing the death of Gwen despite not seeing the previous movie, it still makes it that so impactful Also keep in mind there's a lot of themes, motifs, and foreshadowing of time being precious and how little of it we have not to mention the sins of the fathers follow to our children The fight on the plane for example with Richard Parker mirrors the fight in the clock tower between Peter and Harry Electro looks terrific trust me that yellow and green suit would've been laughable if they did that version yet his character seems very secondary I like Dane Dehaan as Harry, you buy his friendship with Peter when you first see them together, pretty much everyone calls him a young Leonardo DiCaprio Even Sally Field gives it her all during one part in the middle that chokes me up The soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, Junkie XL, and Pharrell Williams with the Magnificent Six is really sweet combining electronic guitar with traditional score and dubstep I'm still shocked they managed to cram so much material in 2 and a half hours although I do wish they made the other installments but I am happy they managed to wrap up the parents' storyline I'm still anxious to see the Sinister Six on screen if they ever get around to it And they went all out with the merchandise on this one, too, it was truly the most advertised movie of 2014 Director Marc Webb knows how to do the human drama and balance the characters’ relationships, the acting, and the performances I admit the bad about this movie to me; it should've been longer to flesh everything else out, Rhino should've been in the movie more as well as Black Cat plus there was so much footage cut from those trailers that I would've loved to see It stinks too they had Shailene Woodley to shoot scenes as Mary Jane but they ended up omitting all of them I was never a fan of Spider-Man's jokes or one-liners either It works though for Harry slowly becoming a villain throughout the course of this movie because he's desperate to ask for Spider-Man's help and he takes extreme measures when he was denied therefore feeling betrayed Yes a lot of people complain they made another Spider-Man 3 with this one but keep in mind that movie still gets a pass and it made a ton of money breaking box office records I still love the trilogy and this one too because they feel colorful, fun, action-packed, filled with enough drama, and have a collection of really good actors Is this the worst Spider-Man movie? HELL NO! I have yet to see one that actually fails spectacularly I'm still skipping that 2012 movie like the plague because this one actually is what that movie should've been in the first place despite all the issues It’s a shame because the studios and the writers were more concerned with franchise building, which is fine but you have to comitt to a self-contained story that can be expanded into a larger universe for later or else it becomes an unbalanced mess The best news though is that thankfully ‘No Way Home’ managed to rectify a few problems this movie couldn’t do on its own giving some course corrections

Andrew Garfield is a fantastic actor, but he in not Peter Parker. High school aged Peter didn't act cool, didn't ride a skateboarded and was never applauded by his classmates. Peter was an unpopular nerd. Stan Lee once said that Marvel was in essence Spider-Man, and Spider-Man was Peter Parker. In this film, Peter was not the Peter Peter we knew from the comics.

I usually am a fan of these wtf happened videos. But man sometimes you need to get your own takes. Electro had a very clear motivation. You were supposed to see he was meek. Mistreated. When he became Electro, he thinks Spiderman is lying to him and treating him like everyone else. He is the man that never had power and was bullied given power. He obsessed over Spiderman and looked too far into their interaction. Then it all came to a head. Also... The character of Electro is a pun riddled character. TASM1 was pretty good, all things considered; and despite the well-reported rumor that Sony only made the movie to keep the rights to Spider-Man from reverting to Marvel. TASM2 was -- fine, I suppose -- it's better than its reputation; and a hell of a lot better than 2007's Spider-Man 3 -- but it's painfully clear the movie exists for business reasons, and not because someone had a great idea for a Spider-Man movie.
