Nic Cage was one of the first actors I think who people started seeing the actor instead of the character. As in when you see him onscreen you can't refer to him or imagine him as anything other than just himself. As it goes that's not always a bad thing because Cage made it work for him very well. That being said...I freaking LOVE Nic Cage, he's just amazing in so many ways and about as intense and creative as they come, you can bet that it doesn't matter if the movie is good, bad or in between, if Cage is in it...it's at least gonna be entertaining.

It's crazy how you packed so much into under an hour! I remember reading an interview somewhere of Ethan Hawke discussing Cage's style of acting, which is unlike anything he had before Lord Of War. Hawke was excited and praised the hell out of him, specifically how Cage was possibly the only actor trying new, different things with the craft. There's just so many things from a career like this where you could talk 4x the length of this video and possibly feel as though less ground was covered. This was most appreciated! Guarding Tess is pretty hilarious btw, or it was last time I watched it around 20 years ago.

Two things that I couldn't agree with you more on: 1. Cage NEVER phones it in! No matter what movie he's in, no matter how crap it is, he ALWAYS brings IT in. There's been plenty of his films I've disliked, but not because of him. He's always did his best to bring the Cage magic to whatever he's in, unlike other actors. Best comparison is in Arsenal playing opposite John Cusack. Honestly, Cusack was terrible, it's obvious he was just dialing it in, barely there. Compare his performance with that of Cage, in a totally bonkers performance. Given what I've seen of him lately, I'm surprised Cusack still has any sort of career. 2. Cage really is a TONE for a film, they bring him in just to be him. And this can be a double edge sword. I'm dying to see his upcoming movie "The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent", where he plays himself, and plays a younger version mocking his movie choices while also being a government agent trying to rescue someone from a drug baron who's a fan of his. This sounds PERFECT Cage material, but I can also see, and worry, how this can be totally be messed up. I've got high hopes for this movie, so I hope the director does justice to Cage

And now he's gone from pretending he is a vampire to actually playing the most well known vampire ever.

We need a National Treasure 3, if only to see what Nic Cage meant when he said at the end of NT2, regarding page 47: “life altering” It’s been rumored that Nic Cage improvised that line. So the writers of a future NT3, will need one hell of a story to make that line worthwhile.

Nicolas Cage is one of, if not the greatest actors of all time. Certainly the bravest. I mean this guy takes chances no other actor would dare to.

I thought Nick and Sean were really good together in the Rock. It's actually one of my favorite movies from my preteens. And in face-off his character as Castor was amazing. I think he'd make a great bad guy if he could play Castor again. And love both National treasure movies.

When he was vacationing during Con Air, he fell in love with Mobile and now films there whenever possible. I swear he's single-handedly kept the film & audio department at South Alabama open.

The Rock, Face Off and Con Air was sooooo damn good!!! Especially Face Off. Nice Cage had some good moves. I enjoyed the first National Treasure and Matchstick Men too.

I am an American living in Japan, and I raised my son on English language movies so he would learn English. In Japanese, the word for “Detective“ is “keiji” I and my son thought that every Nicolas Cage movie was part of a series of “Detective Nicholas” films. I thought that was so cute. Imagine if every Nicolas Cage movie was a connected world in which Nicholas played a detective solving crimes.

Sean Connery - "I'll do it so I can work with Nicholas Cage." Nicholas Cage - "I'll show you God does exist." That's his legacy I think... just crazy enough to be cool. Adaptation is my favorite but most of his flicks showcase his ease to bend his own reality. Truly one of the best actors of his generation. I don't think he fears failure - he welcomes it saying "Yeah - but you still love me, right? That's all that matters."
