Right? To me, it's the epitome of an action movie. Just how it looks from a cinematography aspect (supringly he was a one and done director, which seems crazy in hindsight). It's easily the most Joel Silvery movie in existence. Which is saying a lot. Great dialogue, lots of action, cheesy and clever. It's a movie that never takes itself too seriously but knows it's seriously awesome.

Also, I'll add it passes the movie theater test. Meaning... if EVERY Sly Stallone movie was playing in a movie theater at the same time. What movie would you see? For me, it would be tough between Rocky 4 and Demolition Man... but ultimately, Demolition Man would win out.

Scenes that were cut were a fight scene between Stallone and Jesse Ventura towards the end and a big shootout in the climax.

I remember seeing a behind the scenes thing on HBO as a kid and they cut out each bar on that metal wall and placed those tiny "squib" explosives on them. So they had to do that run scene as a practicle effect in order to get it to look right. If im not misfaken this was the movie where they used paintball guns with little balls of gunpowder to simulate bullets hitting metal, or hitting a hard surface. They would shoot right behind the actors and the tiny balls would mix their chemicals and make a small spark simulating ricochet off metal lol. If this is the movie they did that in they did a lot of crazy stuff to pull off the special effects in it.

Elliot Goldenthal provides a quality musc score for sure, but certainly not more memorable than Trevor Jones' "Cliffhanger", Alan Silvestri's "Judge Dredd", Bill Conti's "Lock Up", or Harold Faltermeyer's " Tango & Cash" - and of course no where near the iconic series anthems of Bill Conti's "Rocky" and Jerry Goldsmith's "Rambo". Goldenthal's "Demolition Man" probably is better than Silvester Levay's "Cobra", Randy Edelman's "Daylight", Hans Zimmer's "Assassins", John Barry's "The Specialist" Howard Shore's "Copland", or any of Bryan Tyler's more recent generic hackery though. "Over the Top" is more memorable for its soundtrack artist songs even though it also had a good score from producer Giorgio Moroder. Vince DiCola's synth pop score for "Rocky IV" is iconic in its own right too. For whatever reason Stallone movies typically had pretty great music.
