@@kennyboggs3676 great scene. It showed how unprepared everyone one was for him. Some of the dialogue could have been cheesy, his delivery had so much personality. Filling in a couple of blanks: 1. Demolition Man was produced by Joel Silver, who also produced all of the Lethal Weapon movies. The set decorator threw in the Lethal Weapon 3 poster as a joke, but since it was also a Warner Bros. movie that was produced by Silver, it was easy to clear the rights for and thus it stuck. 2. DC handled the Demolition Man comic book adaptation because DC is an owned subsidiary of Warner Bros., which made clearing the rights for the comic miniseries easy and DC the logical choice.

In one scene, Spartan is seen protecting an unknown Scrap from incoming fire. That was, of course, originally his daughter. She was also seen at the end, kissing his cheek. Huxley commented that the chaste daughter-father peck didn't seem like that big a deal, which is why Spartan kissed her at the end (he took that as permission). As opposed to just grabbing her at random and sucking her lips off. Also at the end of the book, Lenina explains how the three seashells work. We don't know what she said, but Spartan was impressed, and said it was way better than toilet paper. My theory: the seashells are decorative, and hide buttons. First one squirts your backside with warm water, second dries it with hot air, and third gives you a dusting of powder, since people probably sweat a lot in those heavy kimonos.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 01:47 *🎬 Original Casting Choices and Production Challenges* - Original casting considerations for the hero and villain roles included Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal. - Jackie Chan was initially considered for the role of Simon Phoenix but declined due to not wanting to play a villain. - Production challenges included Lori Petty leaving the project after two days of filming and being replaced by Sandra Bullock for the role of Huxley. 03:09 *🎥 Demolition Man and Cliffhanger: Parallel Productions* - "Demolition Man" and "Cliffhanger" were both big action movies released in 1993, with Sylvester Stallone starring in both. - Stallone hosted a documentary about "Cliffhanger" while wearing his "Demolition Man" police uniform, indicating the close production timelines of the two films. - Despite being released close together, "Cliffhanger" outperformed "Demolition Man" at the box office. 04:17 *💥 Wesley Snipes' Fighting Speed and Choreography* - Wesley Snipes' fighting speed during filming was so fast that his moves appeared blurry on camera. - Snipes had to slow down his choreography to ensure his fighting scenes were visually comprehensible. - This adjustment was made to maintain the clarity of Snipes' combat skills on screen. 05:16 *🍕 Alternative Title and Cultural Adaptations* - In Kuwait, "Demolition Man" was released under the title "Rambo the Destroyer" to capitalize on Sylvester Stallone's recognition as John Rambo. - Taco Bell, a prominent restaurant in the film, was changed to Pizza Hut in some international releases to accommodate global audiences. - The decision to change the restaurant name was influenced by both brand recognition and cultural preferences. 06:10 *🎮 Merchandise Tie-Ins: Action Figures and Video Game* - Despite being a violent R-rated movie, "Demolition Man" had an action figure toy lineup aimed at children. - The action figures lacked intricate features but were still popular among young fans. - A video game adaptation was released on Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, featuring side-scrolling action gameplay. 07:16 *🎶 Musical Connection: "Demolition Man" Song* - The movie's musical score featured a song titled "Demolition Man," written by Sting and performed by Grace Jones. - The song was originally released in 1981, 12 years before the film's release, raising questions about its connection to the movie's title. - The film used a remixed version of the song, updating it with an early '90s sound and a new music video. 09:36 *📚 Alleged Influence and Lawsuit* - A Hungarian science fiction writer claimed that "Demolition Man" was heavily influenced by his novel, "Fight of the Dead," published in 1986. - The writer alleged that 75% of the movie's content resembled his novel but chose not to pursue legal action due to potential costs. - The similarities between the novel and the film raise questions about possible subconscious or conscious influences during the movie's development. 10:32 *📖 Expanded Universe: Comic Books and Video Games* - DC Comics released a four-part comic book adaptation of "Demolition Man" to coincide with the film's release. - The comic book covers featured unique artwork, although some illustrations were criticized for their inconsistencies. - A video game adaptation for Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo complemented the movie's release, offering fans interactive gameplay experiences. 11:54 *🌟 Creative Inspiration and Development Process* - Writer-producer Peter Lenkov conceived "Demolition Man" based on influences such as the "Lethal Weapon" movies and a fascination with cryogenics. - Lenkov's script underwent rewrites by Daniel Waters and Fred Dekker, shaping the final narrative of the film. - The movie's development process involved incorporating elements from Lenkov's original script to create the beloved action-packed final product. 13:37 *👨👧 Removed Subplot: Spartan's Daughter* - A deleted subplot from "Demolition Man" involved Spartan's daughter, Kate, who was supposed to play a significant role in the story. - Despite being removed, traces of the daughter subplot can still be seen in the background of certain scenes. - Speculation exists among fans about the identity of Spartan's daughter, with some theories linking her to the character of Huxley. I thought John Spartan 🚔 was a good character name. 1993. I also thought Sly S kept the black beret look for his 2010s Expendables films. Mercenary characters.

Fun Fact: Wesley Snipes improvised his taunting Spanish conversation with the jail officials before setting himself free. The production team found it funny and kept it in the final print. Fun Theory: DM is as per recent analysts a non DC Batman movie, with Stallone being the Caped Crusader, Bullock being Robin and needless to mention Snipes being the clown prince of crime.
