As a retired Special Forces Soldier I disagree with several of Mr. Milligan’s conclusions. I do applaud his hard work and in depth research, but I do not agree with the fact the SEALs are the only commando force in the DoD arsenal. U.S. Army Special Forces (Airborne) also known as the ‘Green Berets’ definitively have and have had a commando mission since their inception in 1952. The U.S. Army Ranger Battalion also has and has had a commando mission. There are other points of contention, but I’ll leave it at that. I’d love to have a conversation with Mr. Milligan in the future.

what an absolutely ignorant statement sir. There is evil in the world. Evil must be stopped by force. miltary force, the Weapons training, food, housing, training costs money are a small cost for freedom. Have you ever served in the military? Do you know how much it costs to recruit, train, feed, house, medically mentally care for a soldier, Marine airmen? The military uses mostly old but well maintained equipment. Do you know that? What is the cost in the US budget for military costs? For all A L L of the US military budget? What cost freedom? What cost the life of a child, a senior citizen, a man a woman? Do your research. If your not a US Citizen than what do you care. If you are a US citizen be thankful for the freedom you have for such a cheap cost. The Afghanistan debacle is the fault of the current Administration under President Biden. If you voted for Biden that's your fault.

Alright, the more I listen to this the more it pisses me off. Jocko, you have had John ‘Striker’ Meyer on multiple times so you know these conclusions are bullshit. You also worked under my old Group and Battalion commander when you were in Ramadi who was in fact an Army Special Forces ‘Green Beret’ Commander. You know that the SEALs are not the only ‘Commando’ force within Special Operations. You also recently had a Son Tay Raider on your podcast. With multiple interactions with Green Berets and to sit here and capitulate that we are basically a Civil Affairs force is a slap to the face. I have been all in on your message, but I have lost a great deal of respect after this. I’ll be stopping my Origin orders and selling off my Origin gear. I’m sure this will not remotely have an effect, but I have been a big supporter and this guys conclusions are way off. The SEALs were not the biggest group of Ranger school graduates in Vietnam or ever. When you sit and say ‘Robin Sage’ is a proof of concept for SF having a commando mission and totally disregard the fact we still run the same exercise to this day for every candidate hoping to don the Green Beret and just dismiss it also is is very disrespectful. I understand this is a history of the formation of the SEAL teams, but throw the other Special Operations services under the bus with little to no push back to this guy who has obviously drawn incorrect conclusions is also simply a boost to your ego. Up until this point you have been a uniter, but this was a divisive series of podcast. The story is captivating but a lot of conjecture.
