Now I'm just trying to focus on me. I'm working on getting my life straightened out, financially and emotional wise. I'm also going to go back to training martial arts again. I will say one thing about the work issue. You can continue to do your best at work, and maybe work through some lunches, etc. But it’s also okay to talk to your boss and ask for your load to be lightened, if you find yourself in a position where , realistically, too much is expected of you. This day and age, it is very common to get bogged down with a workload that is larger to manage for just one person. It’s important to do your best and fight through, but you also don’t want to experience burnout on a daily basis. You need breaks and rest to think clearly and to do a good job. Working a few longer days to catch up on a project is one thing, but consistently doing it is not healthy. I have been there, and so has a respected boss of mine. He ended up telling his boss (when he kept getting added to every work project) that he’ll get done what he can, but that he also had a life outside of work.
@danielwalters29715 жыл бұрын
That last bit of the video hit home. I did just that at the end of 2019. I was struggling in BJJ for most of 2018 at blue belt. I was struggling financially. I was struggling mentally after breaking up with my BPD ex of 2 years, then getting into a car accident even though I didn't sustain any injuries. That was my rough patch. Last year was a turning point for me. I started getting into calisthenics to improve my athletic abilities. I started taking the necessary steps into improving my jiu jitsu to compete. I picked myself up financially through endless hours of work and side jobs. What did I get back? I obtained my purple belt and won bronze at a competition. I became stronger and more leaner than I've ever been in my entire life. A new car. New opportunities to learn and grow. I'm still in the midst of improving, but that's life. So after all that, I say thank you. Thank you for helping me become the man I needed the most.

While I think that life is essentially more of a wrestle than a dance, most of the time, I do think there can be more advice than just "pushing harder" (which is good advice to a point). I think it is also important to set small goals and the old saying "Slow and steady wins the race is good advice.
