Fact! I was introduced to the Office by one of my PSGs, who happened to be black and the worlds most competent NCOs. I admit it, it was a bootlegged haji copy, but I was enamored by the show, wholly! Gave rib breaking laughs from 07-09. All we watched the Office. Youll never know how much your show help me get through my last 15 month tour. I was a Line Combat Medic in a Cavalry Regt. Through IEDs, kias, hand to hand, etc ...I had refuge from the horrors. Thank you, Rainn! I owe you for the pirated series,(i hear yall could use money) I'm sure SFC Wilson echo the same! Brave Rifles and Bravo Zulu!

One clip I'd like to share is Rainn talking about the effects of the Writer's Strike going on now at 3:50:52 And on the note about the song - I mean, Rainn talked about how he was raised pretty damn poor too, yet he didn't get all bumed out and all (not to mention, in this podcast I see what his outlook was on negative, cynical content - not something he liked to pursue as he found it unconstructive (I think that view is somewhere around the 3 hr mark here, though I may be wrong)).

I love Rainn, i loved him on the office and I even read soulpancake when i was in college and it was something i needed at the time. I love alot of what he has to say, and I think he is genuine in his desire to do good, but when he says something as crazy as, "in some ways racism is worse today than it was back in the old days", Im just disappointed. Worse than when lynch mobs were a regularly recurring event? Worse than when people were hosed down for protesting segregated drinking fountains, schools, restaurants etc? Worse than when a black man could be beaten to death for whistling at a white woman? Worse than when people legally couldnt move into certain neighborhoods if they were of the wrong color or creed? Worse than when people were literally enslaved and their slavery justified by idealogy of inferiority based on skin tone? Thats the kind of statement that does a huge disservice to all of the progress that society has made, and worse, the kind of statement that makes people who buy into it predisposed towards believing that any funny look someone of a different color gives them in an elevator or odd interaction must automatically be about race. Its a total falsehood that continually perpetuated does the complete opposite of healing and bringing people together and makes people believe that a nefarious ghost of the past is lurking all around them in the shadows. Its nonsense that he has been programmed to believe without any logical consideration, and it really bums me out that someone who seems as cool and thougtful and compassionate as Rainn is not immune to that sort of brainwashing.
