I'm glad to see Jodeci is back. Dalvin and Devante were (are still remain) very handsome and talented, can play every instrument. K-Ci and Jojo still have that church sound that breathes life into their music. I would rather listen to Jodeci than listen to that autotune bullcrap that's on the radio nowadays.

According to their younger brother Derek, DeVante (born Donald Degrate Jr.) named himself "DeVante" in 1986 at the age of 16 years old. Devante took a Spanish course in high school and that's how he got the name. He thought the name Devante was very unique and different, and there was no one walking around with the name "DeVante", or "Devontay" (or a similar spelling) until the explosion of Jodeci. After their career took off, women began to name their children "Jodeci", "Devante" or "Dalvin". As a result, there are many boys (and girls) with the name "Jodeci", and there are millions of Devantes and Dalvins now all under the age of 27. In Dalvin's case, he was named after their father's brother (Alvin Degrate). Their father (Donald Degrate Sr.) wanted all 3 of his sons (Donald, Derek and Dalvin) to have the letter "D" as the first letter of their name, therefore Dalvin was named "Dalvin" instead of "Alvin".
