Several stories that have been told mentioned how Elvis read all the time and the books he read was religious books. He was really interested in the different religions, confused about a lot of things but he continued to read. Even the women he dated told of how he read the Bible or books like that all the time!! He knew religion and Christ!! If his followers held signs that said “King” he would tell them there was only one King and that was Jesus Christ! So no one can say if he did or didn’t, only Elvis himself knew! I believe he did because he was so kind to people and never hurt anyone!

Elvis had a call from God on his life. He knew the power he had. No man ever looked as good, sang as good, or had a heart like his. No one ever had the charisma that he had, and I think Elvis got tired of being Elvis, and God took him out as an act of mercy. He was tired. Though he was only 42 when he died, he had lived a thousand lives.

📖 2 TIMOTHY 3:5-7 People always look at the appearance of others, however GOD sees the very heart of mankind. SIN destroys, everyone Reaps what they sow. Elvis, struggled to find the peace of GOD, as he chose a secular lifestyle,and the VOID he had in later years began to show. Obedience-draws us close to the Lord. Disobedience-separates us from the Love of God.

Joe had to balance his friendship/loyalty with his buddy Elvis with his loyalty to The Colonel, which must've taken quite a bit of finesse . He really did a great job. I wish I had the chance to meet him.
@Della6244 жыл бұрын
TBH, Joe's Loyalty always was with Elvis not the Colonel. Joe's job was right hand man to Elvis, close friend and Road Manager. He was the go-between between Colonel Parker and Elvis because Elvis did not want anything to do with the business side of things, so Joe would get messages from the Colonel about the business, bookings and so on, he'd pass them on to Elvis and Elvis would give him messages to pass back to the Colonel. Charlie Hodge once revealed that Elvis felt there were only five people around him that he could absolutely trust, Joe, Charlie, Billy, Geller & Jerry and I think it was proven to be a good call on his part since there have been a fair few others before and after Elvis' death (including Priscilla Presley) who's made money from their association with him and not given a sh*t if it was good stuff or bad stuff being revealed. For instance Joe only wrote books and sold his stuff because of his first wife's Cancer treatment cost the earth, but whatever he had to say or write it was always with love. Several of the others not so much, and again that includes Priscilla Presley.

I have to agree with Joe. The 68 special was the best Elvis ever looked. Especially in the all leather outfit. He was smart not to make it a Christmas special. I guarantee that show is part of the reason he could fill up the seats in Vegas for years to come. He could sell records, because of that voice, but his looks and charisma are what put people in the seats at his shows. He had both during that special.

I really enjoyed over all this interview. I agree with Joe that the 68 Comeback Special was when Elvis looked the best he ever did. Another thing I noticed is on his wedding day he looked very handsome. He had Charisma he had Talent. And I capitalized those two words because there's not too many people who have that combination today. He was generous and giving. I did feel that Joe lost over a lot of the areas of the dark side of Elvis. But even the news reports did at that time because everyone tried to cover it up. Unfortunately his addiction to prescription pills was his end. It made the people closest to him crazy because they could do nothing to help him. Priscilla loved him and I think he loved her too. But unfortunately he didn't see Other Woman as a downfall. And no one could control his drug use. Things were spiraling. However because of his death when it happened it made him bigger and bigger and bigger. People loved him while he was alive but even fans who never were born love Elvis. I was just about 13 when he died and I remember hearing the news. It made me very sad. But to see what Elvis has grown to today is phenomenal. I don't believe they'll be another Elvis ever.
