I'm a fan too of Ringo , but I can only take so much of his music. Yes he has some great , good & not so good tunes out there. But the fact that he's still around & a big part of the Beatles & my childhood & beyond , how can you not admire his presence still today. But enough with the peace & love thing. I agree with the sentiment but it's enough already. Good points Matt. Take care.

Matt you, me, and most of the other comments made by the other bloggers. We are all baby boomers, and of course we love Ringo from the Beatles, and his solo work. I am glad that a lot of younger people like him too? Like I said before I am happy that still at his age? He still great. Thanks Matt! Another great video.

Thanks Matthew for talking about this! Ringo is the greatest! Like John said too Ringo on his song "I'm the greatest " Beatle Ringo is a Beatle that is enough to be said only one of 4! And yes Ringo's solo albums to me are wonderful and yes I enjoy them they make me happy inside!! Remember he is not Heavy metal Rock No Ringo is Ringo rock! And his Single "it don't don't come easy" is the best Solo Beatles song because if you listen it sounds like a Beatles song!! Listen to Ringo's albums and you will enjoy! Ringo is the greatest! Both Paul John and George have said he is great! And Ringo's new single country song " Time on my hands " Ringo is a very talented musician!!! We love Ringo ❤❤❤❤ Thanks Matthew enjoy your Channel! Take care!

I think Beatley Tone's main gripe with the Crooked Boy EP was the fact he was fed up with being charged around £20 - £30 for 4 songs on vinyl.

Great points made, I guess I am like you with Ringo, Some albums I like more than others. I have all his albums and seek out all the non-album tracks I can get. I was really disappointed that I can't find a physical copy of "See You Later Alligator" from Songs from the Pandemic vol 2 compilation. Another favorite obscure song "Just A Dream" was never released on CD. I have a 45 with it as the B-side. Great story about meeting Ringo. I saw him (can't remember the year, but the tour with Randy Bauchman" and was in the second row and almost got the drumstick he threw at the end. That the closest I came to meeting him.

I love Ringo and own most of his albums. Ringo and Time Takes Time are top notch albums IMHO. I watched him and his All Star Band live back in 1991 at a free open air concert here in Denmark. It had rained heavily all day long but 2 minutes before he went on stage the rain stopped. An enjoyable and memorable experience. Cheers 😎

Wow, I just did two seperate Top 10 “love/like” and a Bottom 10 “least favourite” piles of Ringo’s albums. My piles almost matched yours, except, I prefer “Choose Love” over “Y Not” 😉 The first Ringo new release that I experienced as a kid was “Vertical Man” and I’ve always loved that album, although I cringe everytime the “Love Me Do” comes on, I think “Why? Ringo? Why?” And hearing Ringo in the promo interviews explaining, “well, he felt compelled to do record a Solo version because he didn’t play drums on The Beatles album version”, no excuse 😂 I’ve also always been quite fond of the Mark Hudson years, which is probably why “Choose Love” edges into my Top 10 over “Y Not”.
@matthewstreet196127 күн бұрын
You're right! "Love Me Do" is quite a head-scratcher! And I didn’t put it in, my bad not digging it out, but Choose Love would be in my good pile! 🤠🍻🎵🎶🎃👻

I know exactly what you're saying Matt with the loyalty thing. I love the Stones and have bought the solo albums of both Mick and Keith (though to be honest both of their solo material has been somewhat hit and miss over the years) But I've bought them because they are Rolling Stones, some I love others not so. Same with Susanna Hoffs, a huge Bangles fan, and so I buy the solo material these ladies put out. (Check out Ms Hoffs latest CD The Lost Record, it is amazing) I like Ringo, he's one of the good guys in this world, and always brings a sense of joy and positivity to everyone, and I'm really looking forward to Listen Up in January. I love a country tinged album and I think this will be one of his best albums in decades.

When I was a young lad I liked music but it was just there. Didn't move me. Then in the fall of 1963 "She Loves You" came on the radio and my head exploded. Loved them ever since. The only Beatle I ever saw live though, is George Harrison in '74. Have to agree with you. If you love something stay away from the trolls.

I actually got turned on to Ringo in as a solo artist in '73. At the age of 6 i liked the single Your 16. I agree with Joe i like Ringos Music, he takes me back to being 6 years old and holding a hairbrush and pretending it is a microphone and singing along. loyalty buys? I bought Toto albums because Ringo turned me on to Steve, ditto for Joe Walsh.❤😂

Oh yeah - this may be a divided subject - but I'm a big Pink Floyd fan from way back. Love all the albums no matter which iteration of the group is presented. Some are better than others.....And I like the solo albums of Syd, Roger, & David....Truth be told - Nick Mason's non-Floyd output is sketchy and Richard Wright (I think) only had a couple solo endeavors that are neither here nor there. But the point is exactly what you're talking about here. I got a Ray Manzarek album solely on the fact that he was a Door. (That didn't sound right, but you get my point). We're fans of these people because of the group they may have been in before. And sometimes it's just the opposite. I like a lot of Billy Idol and found out late in life he was in another band before he went solo. And that group has a few really good blasting songs. Styx - Dennis & Tommy....The list goes on and on....Townsend.....

Has Ringo ever done just a Ringo show as opposed to an All Star Band show? I'd be interested to see how he would fill out an all Ringo show setlist.

I hear where you're coming from. "The Beatles" have gotten me to get all the solo albums from each Beatle as well as the albums from Julian and Sean Lennon....even got James McCartney albums. And all the (don't laugh, folks) Yoko albums. Dhani's albums are still a work in progress but I got a little way still to go in obtaining those. All in all - a nice eclectic mix of songs. Yoko's not as bad as people are led to believe...if you get past the yodeling songs and get into the real music anyway. The only Beatles related material I downloaded that absolutely made me cringe and feel embarrassed about was the Heather Mills single (but that's another story....Whewwwwwww....) Even the Linda McCartney album has its charm. I like a lot of Ringo's songs - but he's probably my least go-to Beatle solo artist. But you name me any other group where the original members have continued steadily (in their own lifetime anyway) releasing album after album.....Not a one. I've never seen a Ringo concert live - Just not that into it for the headache of getting out and into the public like that - Saw Paul twice.....That's probably enough for me. But I did really like the new Ringo song. Very strong song and good performance. If the rest of the album has that vibe, I'm in. Thanx for the vid, Matt. Until next time - take care, my friend. (P.S. - Big Oasis fan here, too, but I just can't do the Liam side of the breakup material. It's all Noel solo for me....But am really looking forward to any new material they put out as a group.....) Take care.

Hey Matt, I like Ringo even though I don't listen to his solo recordings. I have Sentimental Journey - Bad Boy. And I think I have Time Takes Time and Give More Love. I guess I used to be into ALL The Beatles solo career recordings through high school. But I lost interest in all three of the living Beatles in the eighties. And then not really Ringo during later years. For me, Ringo was the drummer of the greatest band I've known. I guess Ringo's still a great drummer but the songs that he drums to (and yes Jim Keltner had to supplement Ringo during his alcohol abuse years) are not like the Lennon/McCartney, George Martin produced quality, that require the inventiveness that he used to do while in The Beatles (am I off on that?). I'm not into listening to a whole album of Ringo's singing anymore. He used to only sing one song per The Beatles record (except the White Album). I think there's a reason for that. And the Peace & Love thing is over the top - Ringo is a caricature of himself. Cartoonish. Not a terrible cartoon. Anyway, I will see what you guys think of Ringo's new recording and maybe I'll borrow it from the library after a while. I've never seen Ringo or Paul in concert either. Maybe I'm missing out on all the fun. Oh well. However, I do have a small collection of Ringo CDs. That's just me. And prayers to Raul Malo. Cancer is beyond terrible to deal with and live with and the treatments and everything. My heart goes out to Raul and his family.

Joe Mayo and Beatly Tone opinions are just there own opinions You may agree or disagree with them Here is my humble opinion on Ringo You have to ask yourself if Ringo wasn’t in the Beatles would you be buying his solo albums?? My answer is NO NO NO !! His first album was his best and I liked his country record but I would never have cared about his output if he wasn’t a Beatle Just my opinion
@MeanMrMayo29 күн бұрын
If John, Paul, George weren't in the Beatles there likely wouldn't be solo albums of them, either and fewer would care. Same thing.

Hi Matt , never thought the day would come but Ringo can actually sing better than Paul !! not because he is so good , but that Paul sounds so awful !! I will always love and listen to The Beatles, and John Paul and Georges solo work , no interest in Ringo after the 70s that's my take on it !! all the best !🤔

People only buy Ringos records in order to keep their collections complete or out of some sort of perverse loyalty. The same thing can be said about Yoko Ono records. Beatles fans generally not exclusively buy her records out of a distorted sense of loyalty to John Lennon. There's no other logical reason because the music is unlistenable.
@matthewstreet196128 күн бұрын
No you’re wrong. I ENJOY much of Ringo’s catalog. He has several albums that are damned good in my opinion. Maybe you don’t think so, but that’s you. You don’t speak for everyone, I don’t speak for everyone. We all have the RIGHT to express our opinion. Even you.
@maxwelleddison671727 күн бұрын
@matthewstreet1961 did I say anything about you not being able to.express an opinion? I simply expressed mine speaking as a reformed completist. I'm glad you enjoy them. That's good. But it's entirely subjective.
