This is a re upload of a video i made a few years ago featuring Joe Rogan and Eddie Bravo on the JRE Podcast.
Eddie bravo returns home from Beijing, China to join Joe Rogan on his Podcast to talk about Kron Gracie's spectacular ADCC 2013 performance where Kron had one of the greatest back and forth Jiujitsu match of all time against Garry Tonon.
At the time Tonon was relatively unknown but soon became one of the best and most active No Gi competitors on the planet. Garry went on to have a very impressive grappling career and is now a contender in One Championship's lightweight division.
After ADCC Kron Gracie went on to focus on his MMA career fighting in Japan's Rizin. He now fights in the UFC Featherweight division.

I’m still training at 51 as a brown belt, and all I have to say about Rickson is that his philosophies on the mat have helped me off the mat in my marriage, as a father, a friend, a health professional and more importantly as a human being. I received my blue belt from Henry Akins, one of Rickson's black belts. My style is very heavy on top, and very safe on bottom, I like frustrating higher belts at different schools because of this. Respect to all who roll.

Great comment! For a person to be a real ‘Master’ they have to be in complete control of every aspect of their life and they should be able to draw the same line from how you’d approach something on the mat to how you’d address something in the office to how you’d address something with your child’s education. To find and keep someone like that in your life is really special.

@@SamSam-80 yes all are true. I was a student at the Torrance academy in the early 90’s. I’m actually in the background of some of the In Action videos from the time. I witnessed it first hand both black belts from Brazil and guys from any discipline. He destroyed all of them. Effortlessly. It was very very clear to anyone watching that he was different. He was just different then all his brothers and the other black belts.

I experienced all of this. It helped forge my mma career in Japan. This story gives me goosebumps. I know exactly what Eddie's saying about being a father and doing this. To have a samurai like Rickson do it, damn. God like. Only thing he left out was the tonan match, the first couple ofinutes where kron did all the work and out pointed tonan didnt count the ln as soon as they started scoring was when tonan took krons back.

@@jinshin3871 probably something like that and I heard the son-father relationship between Rickson and Helio was better, like Helio would show unconditional love for Rickson regardless success or failure when Rickson was a kid, however things turned weird between them when Rickson grew up and decided to start his own gyms instead representing Helio’s gym, that’s also why Helio ended up choosing Royce instead of Rickson to represent the Gracies to compete in the early UFC

The belly movie at the end there reminds me of Taoist techniques (kinda like yoga) to massage the internal organs. They believed it was important to keep them healthy. I respect Gary so much because he tapped instead of hold and win by points. If he was thinking, he shouldn't tap, but he was just living jiu jitsu and and he saw superiority, he tapped. Great. And him tapping let opening one of the greatest ADCC performance of all times. Kron submitted all of his opponents that day and in the final match, Otavio was avoiding engage all the time, on the last minute he tried take down Kron and win by points, but the baiana exposed his neck and when both touched the ground Otavio was already tapping. That's the level of Kron's submissions that day. It was incredible.
