Joe Rogan discusses the "Don't Say Gay" legislation in Florida, disputing the characterization as it being homophobic. ‪@joerogan‬ goes on to say: "Your teachers are not supposed to be the people that explain gender to a...7-year old." Emma Vigeland and the MR crew examine how Rogan defends the ideology behind these anti-LGBTQ+ bills, lighting fire under the bigots’ fight for the right to be violent jerks.

My previous career was as an educator, and my most recent position was as a preschool teacher in a class of 2 and 3 year olds. I had a child in my class who had 2 mothers and it was often brought up in class. Usually he was the one bringing it up. And children are much more intelligent, and observant than people give them credit for. I could feel the child, and his 4 year old brother, seeking approval in their occasional comments about their mommies. They knew, at their young ages, that their family was a little different. Everyone just wants to belong, regardless of age. I can't imagine shutting down his sweet little voice, telling him that we don't talk about that stuff at school. That breaks my heart. The other students were so accepting. It really wasn't an issue. Young children are so open-hearted, they won't find any perversion in this type of talk, they just love each other.

Children lack the mental disability that decades of propoganda, fearmongering, and religious indoctrination bring into the adult mind. I can remember being a child quite clearly... even a lot of stuff from when i was 2. I try to retain the curious, non-judgmental mentality that i had back then... although i cannot always do so perfectly. There were a few years where i absorbed rhetorical poison into my brain... But i grew up surrounded by evangelicals... so, I inevitably absorbed some of the brain poison. It's a very tough task to deprogram yourself. Children are free thinkers, naturally.

Children are born innocent of all and any prejudice or bias. It is taught and retained by the ignorance of those adults around them while growing up. I am a by-product of such influence. I only recognized my own disgustingly taught inherent racist ideology several years after graduating high school. It took several years for me to forgive myself for my previous abhorrent behavior towards my brothers and sisters. Ignorance begets ignorance. Hate begets hate. Love begets love. The correct association for the man made God is this: Love creates. Hate destroys. The creationists among us that have hate in their hearts towards any human being are hypocritical to their own ideology of creationism, which is, love created, (they say God is love) hate or evil, (the devil), destroys.

Do you even know what the bill actually says? It limits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identitity for KIDS UP TO GRADE 3, as in kinds 8 years or younger. The bill basically says that topics like that are not age appropriate, and frankly they're not! If the parents want their kids to learn about those subjects when they're 5, that's different. However is it really that weird to keep it out of the classroom until an appropriate age? I didn't even know or ever consider that sex was a thing in the first place, and you people want sexual orientation being discussed in classrooms or 6 year olds?!

@@MHGFTW Hey, here's a point you forgot to consider, who gets to decide what is and isn't "age appropriate" because for many conservatives just talking about gay people or anyone who's LGBT isn't "age appropriate" did you stop to think about that? No of course not, too easily distracted by the vague language. You need to realize that far too many conservatives consider talking about LGBT people is inherently sexual and not age appropriate, that it's grooming kids to be LGBT. And Rogan repeated that conservative talking point That's why we say it's the "don't say gay" bill, because conservatives don't want to normalize alternative sexualities and identitys that aren't the established "normal" heirarchy of how one must be and act. I mean just look at the backlash David Rubin is getting for starting a family with his same sex husband, they are already calling them pedos that are going to groom their kids.

I mean politicians on the right are usually starting these culture wars to hype up the mouth drooling fuckwits on their side who think they're making a valid points because sex=bad, but as you must be someone who's studied when such topics are age appropriate you can tell us when would you recommend allowing such things to be talked about in schools?

In matters of sex ed, Americans always confuse "ignorance" with "innocence." Why does teaching them about what they want to know about sex (which, at the ages at which the bill is targeted, is quite basic) make them less innocent? As to the information given to us by one of the crew: Color me surprised!

Because it’s the parents right to teach their kids those subjects the way they wish, especially since a lot of teachers don’t share parents values or worldview and may teach with a woke post-modernist worldview flavor that runs counter to the parent’s beliefs. Elementary school teachers should teach kids academics, its the parents responsibility to instill values and introduce delicate subjects. Nothing wrong with leaving these topics to parents K-3rd grade.

@@joshuagriffin8069 Well, isn't that a "rainbows and unicorns" perception of parenting? If parents' values are inimical to the development of a healthy attitude towards sex in any way, shape, of form, then their values suck, and the children desreve to learn about sex in an objective environment. I would trust a trained educator with integrity more than I would take the chance that some fanatic parents might ruin their children's experience of sex with supersitious nonsense or rabid fanatical ideas about the topic. I suppose parents have the right to destroy their children's sexuality, but I would fight against that heppening!

Many parents do not agree that young children should be learning about sexual orientation at school, whether it's straight Gay or bisexual. The bill is to protect the rights of the parents to choose this rule. If a child has homosexual parents, by theory, the bill should prevent even conservative teachers from speaking against that, as it is not their place to do so, and it should be that way. It is simply not a matter to be discussed by a teacher period. Let's set the record straight. According to progressives, sex and gender are not the same thing. Many do not want to conflate the word Woman and Man with sex (sex being Male and Female). Sex is binary. How do we know this? Well, we got xx and xy chromosomes. This determines what type of reproductive systems the person will have. XX are female, and XY are males, and we all know what type of anatomy each gender, excuse me, sex will grow to develop. A Girl is a child (or young) Female and a Woman is an Adult Female. As is Boy and a Man. These are terms that describe our biology. This is science. The idea that a man can be a woman or a woman can be a man is, will just an ideology. Sexual orientation is sex talk; again, it is not the place of Teachers to discuss this with their pre-k students, so yeah, grooming seems like the appropriate word to describe what they are doing. So sad to see teachers wanting to push political ideologies on children. You should have never been allowed that position.

That's one way of looking at what happened. What if these feelings were always present in our society and our prejudices how to force people to choose. What if human sexuality was for more fluid then I Ridgid religious systems allowed. Now that we're actually starting to push the bounds of personal freedom maybe we're seeing more of our true sexual nature. When behaviors are first prohibited and then allowed you first see a spike and then a decline as they reach their natural levels.

@@marklee4967 Well tbh I don’t have a problem with it I don’t think it’s normal but who cares if a small population want to be whatever gender, however the problem occurs when you consider the suicide rate of transgender people and it hasn’t been lowered despite the public acceptance. I think the reason for this is obvious gender reassignment therapy was (hopefully) created for people with actual gender dysphoria and in theory I see how access to that treatment would help those people. But when doctors are beginning with a conclusion and giving therapy to children to enroll them in a group with a 40% suicide rate it’s a problem. I just don’t see how any sane adult can advocate for injecting a 6 year old with life altering hormone therapy to break some kind of societal barrier?… the child is not a political agent if he wants to do girl things let him kids SHOULD NOT be to changing their gender is an opportunity to become part of a group because then you are playing politics with children’s lives.

A child who is transgendered in Los Angeles may have a better experience than a child in saying Dallas Texas Orlando Florida. That doesn't mean that it's acceptable or is that they feel part of society. I feeling I too well understand being black male in our society. My experience is much better here in Los Angeles then it is when I leave the city. I've gone into restaurants and not been served I've been spit on at music venues and of course profiled by the police. Not taking account being gay or lesbian are transgender and not only are you discriminated against the majority of the population but by members of your own race are your own church. Who would really want to live in that environment. I do agree with you that no one should be injecting a six-year-old with with hormones. My experience people who go through gender-affirming therapy are usually in there early teens and at that point have gone through years of therapy. I'll check out the doctor that you referred to me to see what he says I'm unfamiliar with his work. For this isn't a study to me this is just experiences in my life. One of the great things about growing up in Los Angeles is there are a lot of people who are out about their sexual preferences and you can have really great conversations with people are actually having these feelings and living these lives.

I had a very physical reaction to women that was beyond my control. As far as I can tell homosexuals have that same reaction to men. I doubt it is anymore a choice for them than my attraction to women is a choice for me. I can not force myself to have a physical reaction to men. I assume the same is true for gay men. He was still not a perfect individual and for a meat head caveman brain man he was a lot more open to discussion than most. But all of a sudden Joe somewhere along the way decided after this Spotify deal I’m moving and going FULL grifter. I see how much money can be made….and im going to regress and make so many drastic moves farther and farther back from having real discussions. It makes me SOO soo angry because he tricked me into believing that he was actually somewhat fair at some point. Now he is so far from having any real fair discussions and completely ignores the facts and only goes full force into the conservative talking points. Do you know what's funny? If there's one thing that he shouldn't fuck up, it's his takes on Trans Athletes. Joe is a huge sports fan, therefore he should, theoretically, be really interested in researching every detail about this subject, and informing people about it. I read this thing somewhere but I can't recall where, but it says that a trans athlete's advantage starts to diminish after being on hormones for a while, and those same athletes vary in levels of performance, and what I mean by that is that they lose and win just like any other woman in their division. They aren't dominating. The media just keeps blowing their victories out of proportion. So maybe instead of bashing trans athletes, he should advocate for waiting periods? Until the hormones do their job and it's a leveled playing field. Or something that doesn't involve outright banning them, or painting them like predators?

I don't think that's accurate, he has gradually become more and more conservative over the past 15 years. He's not swindling people. You can go back 10 years and he was relatively opposed to hunting. Then met hunters and talked to them and now he's all in. He used to believe in a lot of social programs but after a couple of decades watching LAs homeless problem get worse and worse he started to not trust the gov/policies of left wing social programs. He had no problems with the trans community untill Fallon Fox started fighting without disclosing that she was a trans woman (she literally almost killed her opponent and fractured her skull in multiple places). Is Joe becoming very conservative. Yes. Is he a grifter. No. It's very clearly a gradual shift based on his life experience, age, and financial freedom. Doesn't seem like a money making grift to me.

Which is utterly ridiculous. But hence the 'grooming' comment. This has nothing to do with sexuality or teaching kids and everything to do with bigotry and this idea of religion labeling topics and certain people as depraved or evil, ect. This is 100% another theocratic push by the right. Teaching kids about sex at ANY age shouldn't be controversial. But they believe that kids are robbed of some kind of 'innocence' or are being groomed or targeted or whatever simply by discussing procreation or sexual orientations that exist in reality and have existed for centuries among countless cultures.
