I was at a show when Damon Wayans jumped on stage w no material. He asked people to shout out topics. He stayed on for like 2 hours. It was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life. He was so funny that the audience almost lost the ability to laugh. I got stomach cramps. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever seen.

The one about Eddie Griffin is so true as well. Saw him at the Laugh Factory and for whatever reason he just sat up there talking about all this spiritual stuff for like 4 hrs. It was nuts but that was back in 2002-03 time frame.

Eddie Griffin is in my opinion one of if not the best at long standup gigs. I remember just watching 3 to 4 hour KZbin videos just being glued to the screen. He didn't just tell jokes he also showed a a deep critical thinking side to a lot of things. Like he was the opposite of George Carlin because Carlin loved showing how retarded civilization is. Eddie would just talk about something and make you realize how fucking strange life is. Only one who does something similar is Chappelle but Dave is just a comedy genius in my opinion who can do it all.

I listened to a Dave Chapelle set where he talked for 4 hours straight, and it was golden. Rogans right, it wasn’t straight jokes the whole way through, and he definitely went very slowly. But the thing about a comedian like that is that he has interesting things to say. It doesn’t have to be funny, listening to that set was like listening to an audio book, it was just interesting perspectives the whole way through

I saw Damon Wayans back when I was working at an Improv about 10 or 12 years ago, back when his son just started doing stand-up. As a way to promote his son and get him better crowds he would go on tour with him. And if I remember correctly, he was pretty damn funny. He was a little stuck up as far as being social with his fans or any of us employees. He walked in the Improv wearing headphones and not really talking to anyone. I remember him being real particular on what was going to be in the green room. He had to have a specific water (Fuji of course) and shit like that. But he was still funny though.

He was spot on. Sometimes it doesn't matter how good the set it after so long you just want it to be over. I went and saw Joe in Baltimore last year. He had Tony and Andrew Santino open. They all 3 killed it and it was a great show, but by the time Joes set was getting towards the end we were ready to get out of there.

lajas44 I thought Damon went as far as he could. I always saw him as a low-ceiling guy. Besides The Last Boy Scout his movies mostly sucked.
