Also MANY occupiers cleared areas around the house for 2 reasons..... fire breaks and FIREWOOD to cook and keep the place WARM in the winter. For better or worse FIREBREAKS were a matter of common sense and burn-offs a part of a yearly chore to be done.... In the present era this "destruction" has been prohibited with the help of the "GREEN movement". As mentioned "for better or for worse" for EVERY ACTION there IS an equal OPPOSING ACTION... to not take this FACTOR into consideration is in error.

The natives of Australia have been using their own method of back burning and containment for Millenia, which is why they have never had too many problems with fires, our fire fighters are now studying and working with the indigenous to learn how they do it, the place where I live hasn’t been back burned in over half a century. We have bad bush fires in Australia every 20years or so, but we haven’t seen a fire or this scale for atleast a 100 years
@dansmith97245 жыл бұрын
The greens have pushed for many years to stop burn offs that use to happen. This helped reduce the fuel load for the fires and because this wasnt happening is why these fires now are so bad. The aboriginal way of burn offs is the way to go for sure.
@yarpos5 жыл бұрын
fantasy stuff, indigenous people flushed out dinner with fires and then the fires did what they did. A low population and a vast land mass means their impact would have been tiny. The great "cultural burner" of Australia for millenia is lightning.

I'm an Australian guy and I find many things wrong with this interview. First of all aboriginals are for the most part 100% intergrated into society, however there still issues today regarding as Joe mentioned the stolen generation (forced separation of family's from children) the colinisation of their land and butchering of their people and many other issues. The fires that are currently burning are a massive problem on a scale not seen in documented history but fires have always been apart of the life cycle in Australia and are essential for the ecosystem. To all the bullshit comments stating that these fires were intentionally lit 90% of the fires this season were due to natural causes mostly lightning.

Today's feuds are for completely different reasons than traditional feuds, the introduction of alcohol plays a big role in that. Stu Don well the thing is that people need to understand that Joe’s podcasts are supposed to be laid back and just a relaxed conversation just like when you we talk to our friends, and the truth is we all talk on subjects that we don’t fully understand - so you should be taking what they say with a grain of salt unless they are talking on something they specialize in. Also the guest did not come on to the podcasts to speak on about Australia, it just simply came up for a few minutes lol
@StuTheDon175 жыл бұрын
Josh Speak for yourself. I do not talk rubbish and pretend to know about things I know nothing about. I ask questions about things I know nothing about. That’s how I learn. I don’t learn by not asking questions and pretending that I already know. So in this case, the plum (I don’t know his name, nor do I intend on knowing who he is) shouldn’t be making any assumptions at all. He admits he knows nothing, but continues to talk rubbish. I hope you’re not defending someone for carrying on like that?
@josh41425 жыл бұрын
Stu Don the fact is you’ve talked about things you THOUGHT was true but was actually false, we all have - just like Joe and his guest. It’s called a mistake. They had no malicious intent and only spoke on what they believed was accurate just like you and I do some of the time. And do not tell me you have never done so because that would be very pretentious, narcissistic and blatantly untrue. Obviously we should all watch for things we may be ignorant about, but in the end we are only human.
