Lol a Buffalo is a cow. Bison, buffalos and cattle, are all cows they all belong to the Bovidae family. A koala might not be a bear, but it's still called a Koala bear "The generic name, Phascolarctos, is derived from the Greek words phaskolos "pouch" and arktos "bear". The specific name, cinereus, is Latin for "ash coloured" A whale shark is a shark, it is not a whale despite having the word “whale” in its name.

"a giant one in May, and another giant one now".. Dude, we currently have over 200 major fires burning across the country.. there's been a few small towns and communities literally wiped off the map in just hours, yet a surprisingly low human death count, currently only about 5 or 6 lives lost I think.. However, well over 5 million hectares (12 million acres), which is over 50,000 sq ks (19,300 sq miles) have gone up in smoke just since the end of October.. and that's THIS year.. This happens EVERY YEAR in varying parts of the country, but mostly the eastern states due to the much denser forested areas.. The smoke and ash from these fires has now crossed the Tasman Ocean and is causing health issues for folks in New Zealand.. it's BAD man.. and there's no proper rain forecast til fucking February.. It'll take DECADES for these forests to regenerate considering the savage intensity of the fires.. The RFS (NSW fire service) and Australian Red Cross have sites set up for donations if your listeners are wanting to help..

Even this description by Joe doesn't do it justice. And these fires have just started, they're not even close to being done. One reached end of my street and has changed direction thanks to winds and it's currently over 300 000 acres and still burning. It's only one of many. The Australian government has dropped the ball so badly they should be jailed. Edit: A week later and just the local fire is over 500 000 acres, and two local fire fighters have lost their lives last night. Again this is only one of many fires and a state of emergency has been raised many weeks to late. The prime minister is in Hawaii on holidays.

so how do you think the impact of the caucasian people "Colonizing" Australia mirroring the disasters caused in the North America from it being "Colonized" here?(im in cali) [So from what i understand is the great dustbowl is mostly a result of slash and burn similar to the amazon and a monocrop causing weak topsoil and making a great area for tornadoes-Aswell as fires in California *caused by people preventing* the burn away of the weak and young plants and the normal cycle that has prevented mega fires like the kinds we are having now and at 10 years back-the sky was red with ash] hope you guys are having an alright summer is it always hot enough to melt a plastic pine tree in December? shrimp dont go on the barbie theyll fall through PRAWNS go on tha barbie how do you feel about Crocadiles/Caiman/sharks? have you been attacked by magpies yet? it seems like a learned behavior from what ive learned so we [humans] might want to discourage that be well May Joe Be With You

I am from Adelaide, I used to work with a government agency that studied climate change drought, wild fires, coral reef bleaching the wheat line diminishing. All of these effects have been known about for atleast 15 years or so. The problem isnt so much the government, the problem is the population who keeps voting for the coal addicted Liberals. They literally silence and try to destroy any kind of scientific research regarding climate change.

@@VincentGonzalezVeg Haha, i get asked about all those things a lot by overseas relatives. We have a big backlash now from the Aborigine peoples of Australia because of our poor back-burning causing these megafires. Our floura likes to be burned regularly, like our native guntrees. When people do backburning the trees don't actually get so hot that they burn to a crisp and the fauna don't get killed. I like fishing and everywhere i go that near bush i'm struggling to get through all the dense scrub and am always at ankle deep in dead leaves, its just a time bomb when they leave it this late.

@@kylelarson5074 i understand your point of view on pollution. For me the issue i find the most problematic is efficiency, sustainability, and wasted resources. But there are many ways to prevent mega fires that all political parties have dropped the ball due to their bickering and self centred politics. Liberals, labour and Greens are all at fault on local, state and National levels. To hear Liberals want to decrease the budget to the rural fire brigade where the volunteers have taken weeks of work fighting these fires makes me sick to the stomach.

i was thinking that humans could farm trees and burn them in contained furnaces and capture the woodgas and heat and actually have clean power then spread the ash in the forest and move on to a new area BUT NOT HARVESTING ALL TREES IN ONE AREA because the trees have a relationship with eachother through the interconnection of mycelium allowing older trees to feed and foster younger ones also it presents a space that you know is being used by active mycological growth plants grow better by with mycelium when i weed often a weed will have mycelum on its roots along with a hunk of dead wood like how we have bacteria in our gut helping us digest the trees need mycelium and im actually going to be learning what groups of mycelium work together best for different trees like if someone was going to transplant a mature tree into the soil, how it could best acclimitize to growing like its been there for years when i was born i had a single all encompassing message i recived from this universe Understand my name on media is TheLivingVoid Be well and May Joe Be With You

It would be hot and really unless you have a good bit of Aboriginal know-how or bush techniques you'd be screwed. Interestingly Aboriginal people used the landscape like a map. Sounds obvious but the old people read the land in a really intimate way. It's quite fascinating to listen to.

This is true. The eucalyptus has at least a mild sedative effect on them. Their bodies are able to deal with the eucalyptus whereas in the levels they ate it it would make other animals/humans at very least ill. The leaves are kind of unpalatable/fibrous/hard and contain little liquid or anything else really "good". They aren't fast moving to begin with...but they do eat all day, and they do look half asleep like ALL the time. Not really drugging themselves as such...but they are in a constant state of digestion because of what they eat - so they sleep more...then when they're awake they tend to spend most of their time eating to get ENOUGH. Why they don't eat much of anything else, I don't know.
@MeFilms
@MeFilms 5 жыл бұрын
There is a common misconception that Koalas get ‘drugged out’ or ‘high’ on eucalyptus leaves and that’s why they sleep a lot. This myth possibly arose as a way of explaining why Koalas sleep for up to 22 hours a day. They need more sleep than most animals because eucalyptus leaves contain toxins and are very low in nutrition and high in fibrous matter so they take a large amount of energy to digest. Sleeping for long periods is a strategy for conserving energy. Koalas and gliders are the only mammals which can tolerate the toxins in gumleaves but fortunately they don't make them 'high' or ‘drugged out’.

Every 5 years or so you get a massive front which wipes out massive areas. In the last 40 years there have been multiple devastating fires in Australia you just forget because we are bombarded with overly dramatic media coverage which makes everyone forget the last round of devastating fires . It's perfect conditions for it at the moment, lots of fuel and very hot & dry weather, whether this is down to climate change remains to be seen. We do live in a police state like no other. It's insane the laws governing what you can ship in. We have so many laws that we have no clue about and are unable to find. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING THESE DAYS WITHOUT FEARING MY GOVERNMENT. Cops will murder you and they will get away with it. for example this one homeless guy attempting to sleep on a bench late at night when no one was around. On camera and with audio they beat this guy with in an inch of his life THAT INCH OF LIFE WAS GONE SOON AFTER GET WAS PUT INTO HIS HOSPITAL BED. I think it was like 6 cops beating him over and over YOU CAN HEAR HIM SCREAMING FOR HIS MOTHER. They got a paid vacation until they were acquitted of all charges and are back on the job. that is just one of countless others.
