Trans athletes could open a can of worms here and political correctness could eat its own tail, so Trans women who still have testosterone should get their T levels reduced to make it fair, so now they should check the T levels of black sprinters compared to whites, if we are to be fair we should also reduce mens T levels to make it fair right? If you really look into sports there are reasons why a man is stronger and faster than a woman, but also within one sex and split the sex by race, for example, why do whites dominate swimming and blacks dominate sprinting, take these dominating factors and you may have fairness also in these sports.

Gerald Fiore bruh, I researched this shot for a few months and wrote a like 2000 word essay on it, and it goes much deeper than just current T levels. Even if they are currently at the same testosterone levels, they are gonna be bigger from past exposure to T, they have larger hearts and lungs, allowing them to recover faster and last for longer periods of time, and even stronger bones. Just because they have the same levels of T at the time of the test doesn’t mean they are on a level playing field.

I’m in women’s rugby, and I have had to play against a few teams that have a trans girls on the roster. I’m only in highschool, and have witnessed the difference between boys and girls on the field - as one of the girls on my team got a broken collar bone from the transitioned “girl”. The difference in strength and muscle mass is insane, and honestly dangerous, especially in contact sports.

Natural born men - build muscle fast. have higher bone density. skin/tissue is thicker. natural born women - cannot build muscle faster than men, and have a lower bone density. hence why osteoporosis affects way more women than men. Also, our estrogen levels literally makes our skin/tissue thinners. hence why women build up calluses on feet more than men... really have nothing to do with shoes in majority of the cases. We are both physically different regardless of what your brain tells you how you feel. If none of these was an issue why the hell do we have male and female divisions separated.

These hormones have specific characteristics. like you were saying, estrogen makes your skin thinner, which is also why it feels softer. that’s why women can be colder then men, even if they’re the same weight. also, women tend to be anemic more then men which can make women colder. there are biological differences, and that’s why trans people block their biological hormone and take a synthetic hormone of the gender they want to be

There’s weight classes, certain types of gloves you’re supposed to use, and more to make it as safe as they can for both fighters. If you let a transgender woman fight in a women’s league you’re letting a biological male who developed already fight a bunch of women. That’s not safe or fair in the slightest. It’s like when that one transgender woman just started smashing weightlifting records in the women’s division.

They can't choose it or change it or do anything about the fact that they think and feel exactly like a woman(or man if they're born female) and they feel that their bodies are completely wrong. I'm transgender and I completely agree with nearly everything said here. Acceptance doesn't mean ignoring reality. I would think that nearly every trans person should understand that life's not fair, but it sadly doesn't seem to be the case. It sucks that you might not be able to compete in something that you once loved, but that's part of the price in going through with the process. I truly want to believe that the people who use the threat of having others perceived as a bigot in order to get their way, are a vocal minority; but increasingly my doubts about that grow. It truly is a toxic manipulative community and I hate being associated with them. I just want to live my life as a normal person and not get any special attention, and to be able to with my body what makes me feel comfortable and happy. Ironically one of the most difficult parts of transition for me has been people assuming I'm like these assholes.

I am actually writing a paper on this subject in my English class. I freakin love that you spoke on this. Joe, you definitely nailed it when you said: "a man becomes a more protective class of women than a biological woman." As an athlete myself, I think that they should come up with a way to have a league of their own. I am all for transgenders to play recreationally with cisgender to stay active and community inclusiveness. However, competing at a level for financial gain or national/international recognition at the expense of the fairness of cisgender women is BS. Men and women right now and for the longest time has been separated in sports from the junior to elite level and for obvious reasons. The majority of men are faster, stronger, more agile. If being born either a man or woman didn't have a direct impact on sports performance then why have different standards in the first place? Because it DOES have a direct impact and identifying as a gender that you weren't born with doesn't change that.

Honestly, believe it or not, living and going to school in Southern California, I was nervous to even speak up my mind...but I have a right to speak my opinion in a debate setting. I did have some people look at me and kindly disagree but overall no one bullied me. :) I just finished a class called psychology of sex and gender and now listening to the podcast, I think describing the difference between sex and gender is gender is the operating system and sex is the hardware. I think that is the most accurate way to describe it...I believe transgenders have every right to look and feel exactly how they see themselves however competiting in sports especially combat or physically driven sports falls under the hardware (aka biology) and cisgender should have the right to choose whether to compete against them without ridicule.

I play competitive fighting games and in fighting games, the idea of a "Sandbag" is almost the opposite. someone who is sandbagging in a fighting game is somebody who is not trying very hard, or not taking the competition seriously and just messing around and basically throwing the game. It can also refer to people playing characters that they dont actually play or havent practiced, so characters they are much worse with and are much more likely to lose with. There is a lot more to being a woman than taking hormones and having surgery. We do think differently than men. I can say this because I was a software developer for thirty years. I did have a different approach or way of looking at a problem than the men that I worked with. We move through the world in a different way. Then there are the years of social conditioning that are completely different than men`s. Then there is the courage that it takes to walk through the world as prey or as the object. There is a 7km climb in my hometown with a 10% slope and My record three years ago cycling up was 1sec faster than the fastest woman . I was 50 , slightly overweight and she was a 23years old triathlete. I'm sure if I lose another 10 to 20lbs and get below my teenage weigh at less than 130lbs I'll leave here in the dust
