When will it end. McGregor beat Aldo clean. Now Edgar is a bigger challenge to McGregor? The guy who lost to Aldo? McGregor has proven that he is the best in the division. Edgar is mechanical, his reach too small, he will get knocked out, fast. McGregor needs a bigger challenge, bigger guys. A move to 155 would be way more intriguing.

I find it really hard to get excited about an Aldo rematch. Not because I'm not interested in the fight, but purely because it'll most likely be the best part of a year until Aldo is ready. Even then, there's always the possibility that he pulls and we end up waiting 18 months for the rematch. Conor is in the prime of his life right now and made clear that he wants to fight regularly. I feel an Aldo rematch just slams the brakes on the momentum Conor is carrying. I believe Frankie really deserves a shot at Conor and it certainly makes for a mouth watering contest, but what really gets me excited is the thought of Conor going after the winner of Dos Anjos and Cerrone. The hype for that would be fucking crazy, especially if Cerrone can get the job done this weekend. With how game Conor and Donald are, that fight could be made for around March time.

There will be many Boxers who are below world level that are now seriously considering training for UFC. Holly and Conor can't be wrong. If the puncher can get to the chin before the BJJ practioner or wrestler can get a grip, then a boxer has got a puncher's chance.

MMA striking is completely different than pure boxing; different movements, reactions, defense, etc. Being an elite boxer doesn't mean you can just go out and one punch KO an MMA fighter who also trains extensively in striking. A fighter with top level MMA/Kickboxing striking would destroy an elite boxer in the striking.

Schaub usually annoys me too much to care about what he says. But he is on the money with RDA and the roids. I've seen this story dozens of times in lots of different sports. You have some guy who is good but not elite. Then magically in the latter half of his career his physique changes and he starts doing things and besting opponents that he was never capable of before. It's always roids. Just like they said with Armstrong...dude was a average cyclist...then gets cancer...then becomes the greatest cyclist of all time...that's not possible without cheating. Barry Bonds, all star player, well rounded hitter, fielder, base runner. Lean and athletic but never really considered I. the discussion for all time legend status...then magically when he is past his normal athletic prime he suddenly bulks up and starts blasting home runs off of broken bats and shit, and destroys a record that lasted for decades and was onl matcher by two other juiced up meatheads. RDA is exactly the same. He was a middle of the road fighter that got knocked the fuck out by dudes in lower weight classes, then out of know where changed his body and started smashing dudes at the top of the class like he's some phenom (pun intended).
@nocomment14699 жыл бұрын

What no one talks about except Joe rogan who said it once then all of a sudden never talks about it anymore is the fact that steroids just like in every other pro sport is rampant in mma less then let's say football mainly because u can still compete without them but to be a champion let's just say every champion in history of mma has used performance enhancers if you don't believe that, you don't understands professional sports. I will just say to all you who think you know better keep living in your false reality. No one actually cares about peds they have always been around since day one and always will be its only a public thing to give a shit about peds.
@ph47909 жыл бұрын
+Tyrone McDonald Joe Rogan mentions the roid epidemic frequently in his podcast. I listen to it often, and he does bring it up all the time. His take on it, though is that it's starting to get taken care of by new testing... I guess he's not wrong, look at Jose Aldo, Overeem, Junior dos Santos. Their physiques have dwindled down considerably.
@MrTiton5369 жыл бұрын
+Paul Alanís agreed they now cannot fully load up however they can never stop it believe me when I say it is a front for the media to look like a clean sport. It has happend with every sport. They have peds that stay in the system for as little as 24 hours that first year chemists can make. Peds are very basic and simple to make and honestly they can't change genetics, they are only a short cut. Except for HgH of course which will alter your genetics. If fans got to see any professional sport without peds there would be no professional sports. Certainly would be no broken records every year. No one cares about peds way too much money to be made by having freak athlete celebrities doing what they do best, make money for those behind the scenes

@acakes50789 жыл бұрын
+casf120 Yeah, I agree. I think there should be at least one title defense against a different contender, and you should have to win at least one fight before you get a shot at the title again. That also sets up opportunities for rematches that may not be title fights, depending on the results. With all the rematches, it just makes the big cards seem stale. I can see if it's something that happens rarely on account of something other than a solid win as the result, but in Aldo's or RR's case? If you get beat ass beat, you go back into the contender's pool.

Kristoffer Eriksson No. I don't think Weidman should get the rematch and I don't think Aldo should either. Why should they? Aldo vs Edgar and McGregor vs dos Anjos I think would be the best combination they could do in terms of pay per view buys. If you do Edgar vs McGregor and McGregor loses, you damage the buy rate potential of the title vs title superfight, whereas given the fashion in which Aldo was beaten - maybe in a rematch he would do much better, but he was well beaten with that strike - and given Edgar clearly is right up there in contention, see if Edgar can beat Aldo and then the winner gets McGregor.

This is combat sports. Most of us who have trained or fought even a little know that it takes just one punch to end the hype as it did with Rousey. It doesn't take away the skill or the accomplishments. Right now there is a hungry beast somewhere that will come along and be the next greatest that will have one or two title defenses and then we are on to the next best and brightest. Even Matt Sera had his day. I respect all the individuals who jump in that cage regardless of personality. I enjoy Connor but let him walk a little further down the path before he is deemed invincible. Aldo had nothing more to prove. Going undefeated for 10 years is quite enough.

The two punches that southpaws are susceptible to are a left hook and a straight right - The two punches right handers are susceptible to against a southpaw is a right hook and a straight left. Boxing 101! southpaws are dangerous because that straight left comes fast, which is why you want to be on the outside of the southpaws front (right) foot. Jose Aldo ignored the first rule of fighting a leftie - stay away from that left hand. I remember Joe stating that McGregor was excellent at the retreating straight left (cross). He got nailed by it. Any time a quick knockout like that, there needs to be a rematch.

Maybe I saw a different fight, but it doesn't appear that that left connected.... I thought the fight was short and not very exciting.

all I can say is if a "now" ex champion like Ronda,Chris weidman, and jose aldo, are not able to get a rematch . then none should get a rematch and just vs someone next on the roster. just saying

Frankie Edgar vs Connor McGregor is the fight to make!!! Glad you guys are on board! Only fight bigger than that would be Cowboy vs Connor! It's time Frankie gets his shot and for the UFC to give the man his due. Aldo can get his rematch afterwards to the winner since he has faught both.

Joe Duffy may still be his kryptonite. Word out of tri star is he is slaying dudes. Gonna be a real threat for the belt. Check out Valentina Shevchenko on the card tonight at UFC on Fox Orlando. Chick be Joannna J Muay Thai like 3 times. She is a 135lb striking machine that is like 56-1 in Muay Thai and a 16 time world champ I believe. Striking that is scary good

Joe, I like you but please stick to what you know. Part of what makes your podcast so good is the broad spectrum of subjects you cover and variety of guests you bring in. Please don't dive too deep into the technical aspects of the fight game. Do what you do best -- bring in guests who can offer insights in this field. Brendan tries so hard but he falls short.

What people have to understand about rematch's is that a fight has to be close enough that they need to fight again. Getting KO'd in 13 seconds isn't even a fight. Aldo showed up, they locked the doors, ref said fight and Aldo got KO'd.

They should do this and let the people pick the fights so the Pay-Per-View buys be charting records and you bought what you ask for. The honorable way is to have a rematch with Aldo every REIGNING Champion deserve a rematch clause (Ronda Rousey, Anderson Silva & Cain Velasquez got theirs). The co-main event should be Frankie Edgar vs. Nate Diaz and the winner of the Edgar/ Diaz should get the title shot. Fighting Anjos is nonsense, McGregor didn't even defend the title yet. Champions before him wanted superfights and couldn't have it. If McGregor defends the title at least 3 - 5 times. Fans and UFC Rosters will respect and would want to see it.

"conor predicted that" is always a funny statement. Between all the media he did over the past year, he talks so much that anything he does in the cage will be "predicted". I heard first round, I heard second round, I heard knock out, I heard playing with him(aldo), I heard KO, I heard mentally break. What didn't we hear?
@Avean9 жыл бұрын
I get so annoyed about people saying that punch was so planned and amazing by Mcgregor. He got freakin punched in the face as well, it just happened that he landed harder. Was it his "masterplan" to get punched in the face by Aldo? We are talking about fighting here. You cant predict to win in 10 seconds, you just cant. You can never be 100% prepared for a fight between two professionals like this, you CAN get hit at any moment and get knocked out. Why is UFC so behind Conor and saying this was purely planned and how amazing by Conor? He got punched as well, Aldo has ruled the UFC for 10 freakin years. 10 years fighting really good people. Conor in a barely a year suddenly full backup by UFC cause of his ability to entertain and UFC trashtalking Aldo ... Its not good. Aldo deserves a rematch.

Nate Diaz Vs McGregor in 2016! That's the fight everyone wants to see. Diaz is now back in the top 10 after he dominated Johnson. McGregor should fight the top 10 at 155 to prove himself in the division. Yes McGregor is good but he needs to prove himself in the weight class before a championship fight at 155. Nate deserves a shot.

Rogan neglects to mention Connor was injured against Mendes...and so found it hard to use his legs to get up. And also, with injured legs it was harder to resist the take down. What makes Rogan's assessment floored is now we know what a fit Connor McGregor can do, that is what he has always done knock people out. Here we go again another fighter who can beat Connor, - Okay Edgar is only 5.6. tall and has a shorter reach than Connor. Aldo, has earned a re-match but only when he goes down and fights his way back up and is cleared by the doctors. As conor says there is always something...it is never ending.

Saying that something is a fluke is irrelevant in fighting. When two guys throw a punch, neither one knows what's going to happen. It's a matter of chance, not a fluke. From what I saw in the fight Aldo landed his punch, but McCregor's punch hit the right spot. There is no fighter that accurately lands every punch where he wants it to go. Aldo could have hit McCregor the right way and knocked him out. Anything can happen in a fight.
