I love your videos. They are exactly what a noob like me needs in order to learn how to light. You keep things basic and explain as you go. Too many lighting videos I've seen start out with a few lessons, but then quickly devolve into music videos where the photographer shows off his leet photographic skills with fast cuts and tricky angles.

Joe, after seeing a lot of these lighting videos were from 6 years ago, I was wondering if you were still on KZbin - but then I saw your recent OM1 purchase and "Visualize your final image" from your first mirrorless camera purchase (bit of a change, right?). Congratulations. I appreciated this quick demonstration of the use of a light and soft box (had just purchased my first light and softbox), but appreciated your streamlined version only because I'd done a ton of research, reading, and reviews of "lighting" prior to watching this one so terms like "short" lighting, Rembrandt triangle, or "feathering" - with subsequent drop in exposure. Point is, a beginner might come away will less from this - as it is more a quick summery and demonstration for someone who has been down this path. Looks like you got a lot of views and comments. Enjoy and thanks for the review.

why with the same softbox, at the same distance and with the same position do I get shots with a shadow that divides the face into two light and dark areas? I would like to recreate the same effect as you did in these shots (3:56), does it depend on the flash? How can I have a homogeneous light all over face?
@tpm9309 ай бұрын
I think he is using some fill or reflector on the other side. You can tell be the soft catch light in the eyes. Normally softbox on one side will create a much darker side on the other side.

TTL in a studio environment, why would you, could it be because your videos are sponsored by Nissin's top of the line TTL flash?
@JoeBradyPhotography6 жыл бұрын
I personally wouldn't use TTL in a studio environment, but just because I don't doesn't mean that no one else does. I feel it's my duty to present options for everyone and I'm simply showing options for those who prefer TTL shooting. If you watch most of my lighting videos, you will see that personally, I am a 100% manual shooter. BTW, Nissin doesn't have any editorial control on what I produce - I come up with the presentations all on my own.

@@JoeBradyPhotography i understand what you are saying. Personally i use TTL for run and gun scenarios when you don't have the time to set up manual settings

Times have changed and evolved these days, especially with so many speedlite options availabe than in previous years. Some photographers are willing to explore those options and if it produces the same results and is faster, then that should equate to an increase in income - faster work time, but the same quality images.

Hi, Im new using a flash, im wondering what is the biggest size I can use for a godox ad200pro? Thanks
@JoeBradyPhotography4 жыл бұрын
The AD200Pro is a nice flash - I would think that a 36" soft box would be just fine - just keep in mind that your ISO and flash power will have a big affect on recycling time
@Lucamitm4 жыл бұрын
@@JoeBradyPhotography thanks for the measurement! higher flash and higher iso longer recycling?
@JoeBradyPhotography4 жыл бұрын
@@Lucamitm Higher ISO means less flash needed and quicker recycling times, higher-power on the flash means longer recycling times.
