@joentell how many inches is the bottom of the screen to the top of the BenQ? I'm just trying to get an idea because I want to ceiling mount it.
@joentell Жыл бұрын
@@narflexel let me check. Ok. Approx: 9.5 inches from the wall, the white part of the screen not including the screen border is about 10" up from the top of the BenQ, the edge of the back of the retracting cover measured diagonally to the white part of the screen is about 13". Hope that helps.

I really loved the image out of that projector. I ended up returning it because I thought it was a little slow/clunky (which can partially be remedied with firmware) and there were a couple other bugs when making adjustments and I wanted something even brighter for more impactful HDR. The image though, really is nice. For the $3150 they were available for, it’s a stellar value for sure and a food first step into UST for BenQ.

@joentell3 жыл бұрын
Yeah this are all interesting. From the initial stuff I'm seeing on the Chroma it looks like reviewers are noticing some things that need to be ironed out. You can tell from their videos that it has a lot of potential, but it seems like something serious and not trivial. I would imagine the 3 lasers would help with brightness and color volume for HDR, but in most cases, I don't find either lacking on this BenQ. I haven't tried the WeMax.

@Theninjagecko3 жыл бұрын
ALR is for ambient light reflecting .. CLR are made FOR ust projectors.
@AnontheGOAT3 жыл бұрын
CLR is made for UST because of where the light is coming from - thrown from the bottom up to the screen. So a CLR filters light that bounces off the ceiling above from a UST.

@joentell3 жыл бұрын
In a dark room, you will get better screen uniformity with a long throw since the angle of light isn't as extreme. You'll probably get better overall sharpness corner to corner. Brightness and pop will go to the UST with CLR screen. Long throw looks more like a movie theater and UST + CLR looks more like a TV. There's a place for each.

It would been helpful to use a light meter in order to be able to set both projectors at the same light output.
@joentell3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean by set the same light output. The point is that brighter is good for new projectors. We don't want to handicap one to make it match another.
@georgepopescu13273 жыл бұрын
@@joentell it means that when comparing two projectors they should be calibrated to the same light output, otherwise we won't be able to see the real differences. Projectors are usually calibrated to a reference light, especially in SDR couse for HDR is a wild west. You should aim for something like 30fl in that room.
@joentell3 жыл бұрын
@@georgepopescu1327 I think it makes more sense to look at how well they retain contrast, color accuracy and saturation at their native light level rather than lower it down unnecessarily to match a dimmer projector. I think it makes sense to show each projector operating within its own range which is why I set my camera to middle gray on each projector.
@georgepopescu13273 жыл бұрын
@@joentell so, please, explain to me, how can you compare the contrast of two projectors if one will pump 50fl and other 30 fl? This will couse unnacesary raised black levels. i don't think you understand how thinks works in projection. A projector is not a TV, you don't just cranck the light to maximum and levae it like this, you have to set an optimal light output. Comparing two projectors means that they are both calibrated to the same maximum brightness.
@joentell3 жыл бұрын
@@georgepopescu1327 dynamic iris is one way. Just because a projector can get bright doesn't mean it can't get dim. A dim projector can't always get bright though. Look at the JVC's. They are known for their black levels and can put out a good amount of lumens. Then you look at those inexpensive projectors that have low lumen output and raised black levels. What we want is deep blacks and a bright vibrant picture. If you believe you can do it better, please do so because your recommendation of lowering the light output of a brighter projector to match a dimmer one doesn't make sense to me. No one would ever do that in a real world scenario.

It looked as if the Vava had better black levels. I have always loved Benq. I have the HT3550. My only gripe is I wish it had better blacks instead of the dark grayish color.
@joentell3 жыл бұрын
It looks like that, but it's tricky to do this perfectly in a normal room because the brighter projector also tends to light up the room more and my walls are light in color and so is the top of the entertainment console. It's possible that the Vava really does have better black levels, but I just want to be clear about the situation and possible factors that could affect it. Also, the Elite Screens Cinegrey screen helped with the lifted black levels on the HT3550. I still prefer the TK850 to the 3550 because of the higher lumen output.
