I love the fact West multiple times throughout this pod said “I don’t know” whenever he didn’t know something. This is a man who studied this stuff for over 50 years but still had the ability to admit his ignorance to something. So cool

Dan Tyler - i suppose i meant “Subterranean Academia,” as Underground or Non-Mainstream education/knowledge sought out by the curious and/or unenrolled “students.” many of us have not completed formal or accredited courses in Egyptology, but we are curious & engaged in listening to folks like J A West (RIP), G Hancock, R Schoch, & the like. we’re amateurs & we subscribe to those type scholars & may advocate or endorse their theories that seem to deviate from Mainstream Egyptology. i believe that’s who West refers to as the Quackademics, because many of them are One-Way Streets & not open to challenging what they were taught. i’m not looking to Discredit Anyone or disagree....but, i enjoy these dudes, ya know?.?

I started watching and listening to this pod cast about a month ago and I have to say it is truly a breath of fresh air to have a source of media and entertainment that can be so open in it's topics of conversation. The varying degrees of discussion ranging from intellectual, social, and all around entertaining topics make for a mentally stimulating source of communication. Our culture needs more of this open discussion based media. Joe Rogan is such a respectful and thought provoking conversationalist to the extent that I would go as far to say that he could be viewed as a good role model for young people of our time. I would also go as far to say if he ran as a government official I would vote for him. Joe Rogan for president!

What do you think about him quoting Schoch calling the Sphinx 'hundreds of thousands of years old'? Seems he slipped it in sneakily to me, at 2:02:45. Brings to mind the very ancient structures in the Grand Canyon and across the western U.S. claimed to be 'natural'. Will the secret keepers ever share what they know about the distant past and distant space? That's an outside-the-box question that'll seem absurd unless you're outside the box too.

Acropolis is the whole structure (it's a name associated to its function as a citadel/fortress) and Parthenon is the Temple of Athena on top of it. Acropolis as a whole was built over two pre-existing structures of which we don't have a lot of documentation. A Mycenaean Megaron (first) and an Archaic structure after that.

You should check out Michel Cremo (he co-authored a book about fossils & artifacts which have been swept under the rug because they seem to contradict current or past models of Neo-Darwinistic evolution.) Some of the artifacts, according to present dating methods, go way WAY back, and if true would perhaps show the history of sentient beings is much older than currently thought.

Probably the most interesting conversation I’ve seen on joes podcast and it took three years for me to see it. 👍. Great hearing someone talk without a filter. Very rare in today’s society for someone to be genuine and sincere about there deepest thoughts and discoveries. J C because main stream science is based on person feelings now, these people are taking it personal when someone says "well look at this evidence" then someone says "well wheres the evidence? Wheres the facts?" Well the Ice over North America was 2 miles thick... thats 10,560 feet right? If that broke and shattered from an impact, that civilization would most likely be swept up into the oceans, or buried in massive deposits in that area and massive flooding on the other side of the earth from and water being shot into the air in vapour causing massive down pours on the other side of the world from where the impact happened (they found animal deposits under the black crust from that era... but no other animals from that era above it? Weird right?) Or they'd be ripped apart and ground down by the shifting ice and water going like 50-70 miles an hr as well as the trees and rocks being carried by said water... so ask yourself, would there be much evidence other than 30-100 ton stones and some painting and inscrptions left over, would you be able to find other artifacts, I mean c'mon watch a Tsunami video, and add hunders of more feet to that wave and imagine what would happen, these people get so defensive when you question their knowledge about the history of the earth, and they think "we humans are gods creatures we were meant to rule, no one else, so there for no other civilization could come before us!" Even tho a world flood and fires would leave hardly anyone or anything (we'd be thrown into the mind sets of cave men 'cause there'd be no one to re-teach us) I mean they haven't even explored our oceans beyond 5% and they only look for ships, they don't dig into the ground and think "well if a flood did happen... maybe everything in it's wake would be swept up and carried to the ocean once it recieded" they just dismiss it. Cuz they take it personal, for example I was setting up a trampoline and one spring was off set by one, and the person I was setting it up with got pissed off and tried removing it, and I said "well lets put them all on so the tension is even on all of the springs as well as the trampoline, therefore the spring will be easier to remove" well I questioned his intelligence there, and he got defensive, (btw this was my dad lol) he later came back after I left and said sorry your idea was right, but you see... other people won't be big enough to admit they were wrong, they'll fight to prove they were right the whole time.

It's a brilliant line, though interpretation is the issue; Some will hear this exactly as intended, an indictment on Western culture and our need to be satiated by technology, while others will misinterpret it as an indictment on political progressivism and the quest for justice/equality. What Mr.West is saying, in many ways, is the truest tenet of human progress, in that what we all yearn for deep down is truth and understanding. We only divert our interests when society punishes us enough for having them, but before that occurs -- while we're still young and haven't yet had the curiosity beaten out of us -- we're all exactly as he describes. Our nature is to be connected; To discover new things and to grow spiritually, emotionally and psychologically. Everything else is learned behavior. Things we adapt to fit into society. If not for those barriers, we'd all be more enlightened people. He mentions Tibet in this conversation, and if you look at Tibetan monasteries where children learn to meditate and practice mindfulness from a very young age, you see how different we are in comparison. How much more materialistic we are, and selfish, and prone to conflict. That's not something we're born with; That's something we're conditioned to become.

Wow, the comments section on youtube never disappoints does it? We as a race are doomed if these comments represent the intelligence of man. John Anthony West may be the MOST knowledgeable human alive when it comes to Egyptian history and mystery. Thank you Joe for finally getting this man on. To all you morons commenting on him, just watch magical egypt and try to realize that this man has studied egypt more closely than almost anyone ever has. He absolutely KNOWS what he is talking about.

I learned 3 things. 1--there is reason to believe death is not it. 2--gatekeepers are probably way larger than I think. 3--dumbfuckastan. Seems reasonable for one session.

Eli Dames - death is just a consequence of being alive, and life is good. But do we live as if every choice has a consequence to our internal state and the state of the world. Some people really do. I can't say they are wrong.

No, his theories are mostly rejected by archeologists. Reason because they tend to based in conspiracy theory and not science.

Maybe you're a nice guy, but you're mistaken. Who ever said archeology itself was science? Mostly its interpretation. Not hard science. Ironically (Vis-a-vis your point) West actually calls upon hard science (i.e. Geologist Robert Schoch) to illustrate his ideas.

The physical evidence is there for all to see e.g. the marks on the sphinx etc. Mainstream academics fear becoming a laughing stock among their own but these alternative view fellas seem to be on to something but they should be subject to rigorous examination too. The problem is they can't expect to just spout contradicting ideas/theories against the established "experts" and be universally accepted. More investigation is needed.
