Hey Joe, thanks so much for all the great videos! I bought a 2013 Int. 4300 in December from a dealer in Phoenix (I'm in San Diego), without going out to test drive it and got exactly what I set myself up for. I have paid out thousands to a local mobile mechanic and then the dealer for diagnosis to find out why this truck has no power. It literally slows down on slight grades even when empty. Today I finally dug into it myself to find the mounting boot to the Turbo intake from the air cleaner was split 2/3 the way around. I may be responsible for tearing it a little more than it was, but I can't imagine I was that hard on it undoing the air box and other parts. I was gong in to check the turbo fans for build up when I found this. The fan up top looks pretty clean along with what looks like new turbo housings. All this to say, I wouldn't have known where to dig in had I not been watching all of your videos. So thank you. I am picking up the new part from the dealer this week at $200 for a piece of plastic with a rubber gasket. Can't believe what a racket this stuff is!

Leaving the turbos on the truck... was it to inspect and just clean the exhaust fins?? Doing a through job?....ive never had to do this to our truck yet so I like learning.... ask questions from those who know bettet ya know..... THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS

Hi Joe. Just finish watching your video, very informative and guided me to properly diagnose this engine in a school bus. I'm only getting 12 psi boost and very low power under all conditions, will repost once I get them off and see how they look inside. You have my subscription..

Need help please, I have a 2014 international prostar with a MaxxForce engine. When I was doing a pti couple of days ago I noticed oil around the oil actuator and burned ( very dark ) oil on the frame right below the actuator. Took the truck to 3 different shops so far and they have no clue why is there oil coming out of the actuator. Cleaned the oil , cleaned the small shaft coming out of the actuator drove 400 miles today and now it looks the same, oil everywhere... Please help ! Thank you!

hi there joe! good day! i really appreciate your video! It is useful and informative for us who owned MAXXFORCE. I have gone a lot of research to fix my trucks, and here your are I found your videos! I have MF 11 and since I was able to owned this trucks, It cost me a lot. But it gives me a challenge to fix and work it well. Anyways, I have here also MF 11, we have same DOUBLE TURBO. The problem of this stuff, oil is coming out from the TURBO going to my throttle. How can I fix this? What could be the problem? Thanks a lot for your help!

Hey there Jerwin. U might want to check ur crank case breather. They are known to fail and that will cause oil to flow into ur turbos and saturate ur cooler and intake.

Hey Dan. I will try the step by step approach. I didn’t want to make the videos too long but I get you. I’m skipping out on a lot of detail. I barely started working on diesels again (Covid19). I’ll get you guys better footage. Thank you sir for the comment. And thank you for watching.

Question this turbo system doesn't have and electronic VGT system ? Do these operate via vacuum/ pressure by the wastegat linkage ?
@JoesBusBarn3 жыл бұрын
If ur turbo is not equipped with VGT. It has an exhaust brake system on it. What year and model is the engine that u r working on brother. That would make it easier for me to answer the question correctly.

@@JoesBusBarn oh thanks bro It's a 2011 international durastar. I just changed the crank case breather because it's was looking a bit ugly and noticed some oil was building on the block. I also replaced the IPR valve because the previous owner was transparent on the previous repair it had. He sent me the receipt and I saw that the oil rings on the pucks where changed with the ICP valve but they slapped a used IPR valve on it to save cost. When I replaced it I noticed the screen on that used part was collapsed so I guess I cought it just in time before it would of failed on me 😅 So far it's been a good truck and actually decent on fuel for the type of work I do. So yea I just wanted to learn more on the type of turbo system that comes on this engine. I came from a cummins ISC and that VGT system was hell for me 🥲

I’ve bought them from J&m turbo chargers from Florida. Found them on eBay

Hey Joe great video. Got myself one of these in a durastar with a slow boost response code. My main concern is that my engine won’t get up to 500 degree temp when it starts dosing with fuel on its own during a regen. Any thoughts would be amazing. TC1 outlet pressure only 3.2 psi during regen.
@JoesBusBarn3 жыл бұрын
Hey there Bryn. What’s ur exhaust back pressure at when u start a regen. 2 things that frequently happens on these is bad back pressure sensor or clogged up dozer injector nozzle. Nozzle is very easy to clean out. It’s screwed onto ur down pipe right before it’s drops downward.
@JoesBusBarn3 жыл бұрын
One other thing. Ur boost control valve. It’s bolted up to that C pipe connecting both turbos.
@brynjones77093 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe, my injector nozzle, metering block, and dpf have all been changed this week. I will definitely look into those sensors. Really appreciate it.
@brynjones77093 жыл бұрын
Also, I’m using NED and I have a signal for exhaust back pressure control but not one for back pressure measures. Seems a little odd to me. If my sensor was shot you’d think I’d still be able to see a value for it.
@ShiftingSkys Жыл бұрын
Depending on the signal on NED you will get ... with a sensor that isnt programmed or a failed sensor
