Same here just realize this if you ever played football. A lot of the training we did was to strengthen our ankles and knees which is a direct contradiction of what we’re asking them to do here. I just started playing golf…how I found this video. No I’m trying to stretch in ways I’ve never stretch before. I feel stiff as a board
@kevrobbo772 жыл бұрын
always had a tight right side hip. felt it when playing football when stretching my left leg out. this was back in my 20's. now in mid 40's just tried the 90 by 90 and when the right leg in behind i struggle to stay upright. when left leg in behind its easy.

Nice video and stretch for golfers. I am a golf coach and would love to see some stretches to help with the internal and external rotation of the shoulders and well as some hip flexors. I come across a ton of students who sits down most of the day and they have lower crossed and upper crossed syndrome. Thanks Joe!!!!

I liked the slightly harder version of the push/pull with the hands. Arm bent as you are pulling. I would recommend having that hand being palm up. That's the position you need in the top of the golf swing....palm up like you're holding a tray. 💪

Hi Joe I am 60 years old, just to confirm this is for a right handed golfer? your left leg is in front right leg behind. Anyway I injured my back last week and I am trying this stretch I could not even sit straight up ! Now trying it with right leg in front and left behind was much easier although I had to keep tight hand on ground. Right now I am trying other stretches to also increase my back flexibility. Yoga camel, knee to chest , knees side to side. Thanks for the video something to work on!

What is the best way or stretch, for more muscular golfers to keep their lead arm straight. I either find my delts causing my arm to slight bend or muscle tightness in the arm itself
@joetherapy3 жыл бұрын
First place I would check is T-Spine rotation especially if you're talking about the backswing. If your spine can't rotated your arm will bend to compensate.
@justinkowalsky73963 жыл бұрын
@@joetherapy yes the backswing, I have a tendency to slightly bend my lead arm when I get towards of end of my rotation. My delts do hit me under the chin but my t-spine rotation could be it. I notice that I drive more straight and consistent with greater rotation. I believe you may indeed be right. I need to find the correct stretch for that. Do you have a video on that?
@TheAerisyn4 жыл бұрын
Do you do it on the other side as well? Or just 1 side depending on left/right handed ness...

You should probably always stretch both ways to avoid any imbalances especially since golf is already pretty one-sided. Not a doctor tho:)

The goal is to get is to get into this full stretch at 125 years old. Then you will be pounding the ball over 300 yards shooting well below your age every time you tee it up. The good news is you have a half century to work on this and get super limber.
