In 2019, Joey invited me to the soundcheck before a gig, so that I could give him a pedal I made. As we were chatting, I commented on the red "Mulecaster" with the multi-lever palm-pedal. Noting my curiosity, he handed it to me, asking "Why don't you try it?". It was absolutely UNPLAYABLE by mere mortals. He told me it was strung with .019-.063 strings. Optimal and fine for slide, but that sonuvagun frets it AND bends strings! I joke to my wife that if I ever have a pickle jar I just can't get open, I know who to call - Joey. Those fingers is STRONG, baby.

I don't understand how he manages to only slide some of the notes while keeping others like a pedal steel. Like the major to minor alteration right at the middle of the clip. I am baffled 😮 can somebody who know how to do that explain?

Nope! But, Sonny played on some of Joey's father's recordings funny enough.
