I think the only problem with that is you might wind up with 70 250 riders starting gate would be a quarter mile long they need to point out and another problem you would not have very many 450 riders. Everybody would want to stay in 250s if they can win they can’t stay in 250s their whole career

​@redryder1146 No part of that makes sense. There wouldn't be more people on the gate. It doesn't matter if there's 50 or 500 guys trying to race the 250 class, the same amount are going to qualify. Not everybody would want to stay in the 250 class. It's pretty obvious that it would be harder to have a decent finish or even qualify in the 250 class when they're going up against more riders...

Why? Everybody knows the 250 class is just a stepping stone and a 250 title doesn't mean a whole lot if you never get it done on a 450. If somebody has never won a championship and wants to spend 15 years in the 250 class or step back down to try to win a title because they couldn't get it done on a 450, more power to them.

Not allowing retroactive affectation of the rule interferes with his ability to get a job. This is problematic. This "oops, well, too bad. Them's the rules". It seems arbitrary and damaging to a riders ability to earn. SM is too heavy handed and dominating of the convo. What a whip

There should be a 250f stock class for riders up to 20 years old and the regular 250 class and 450 class should just be open to everyone regardless of points etc...

Curious how Triumph will do with the new bike. Some make comparisons to Cannondale, which is totally apples to oranges. Triumph knows how to design and build bikes. Their leap to motocross isn''t as huge as a startup. And, the way they're releasing it is something they have the luxury of doing, since they're probably not as hungry for investors as companies like Cannondale or Stark. They don't have to do an early release to get the money.

This rule is pretty weak. There should be an eligibility rule for the 250 class. And if Joey meets the eligibility like the rest of the 250 class then let him race it. Being kicked out from the previous rule should have no bearing on current eligibility.

So i went and read the new rules.Mostly they make sense,as they eliminate the chance riders will take a dive.Of all the things we dont want in racing,stupid rule manipulation is one of the biggies. I'm always conflicted over the restrictions for the 250 class. In theory i hate them but they serve a good purpose. Ideally i would be a little more lax with the restrictions and set up a stock 250 class ,which would solve several problems at once

The single greatest reason that there are twice as many 250 rides is because there are 2 series. You'll lose 10 factory rides immediately if you combine the class.

Also the younger less experienced riders coming up have an easier time with less rounds compared to the 450 class

Non-industry sponsors want the Saturday night TV exposure along with the stadium environment that lets them market their products to the 30,000-60,000 people in attendance. Financially, I would think that the outdoors is a loser to most teams.

Just let them race what they want to race. I mean it kinda sucks for the young guys just coming in but they could run a lower tier class even like the all star class and ppl would eat up 3 diff mains at every event. I want an action packed 250 class. Most years it seems to be like 1 or 2 guys way ahead of the rest. This could really amp up the level of racing in the top 5 IMO.

Really it's at the point where they should just call it "invitational" and feld/ama can decide who can ride in what class for whatever reason they choose. They are just going to change the rules to specifically do that anyway from year to year.

It's kinda like Barcia he should be able to be back in the 250 class mx. I just don't see him being able to win any outdoor motos. He hasn't had the success. His style matches better to a 250f. Joey kept saying they changed the rule for what reason well they are the governing body. They can change the rule if they want to. I’m not saying this is right or wrong. It’s their sandbox if you want to play in it follow their rules if not then retire!!

Ya huge fan of Joey .. best of luck .. you should 1000% appeal or do what ever it takes it be on the gate for 250 sx next year .. if I was you I’d do tons and tons of different types of media gigs, stunts, videos, polls of the fans, polls of the riders , like try to create serious public pressure for them to not to just deny your appeal without seriously pissing of the fans, riders and those within the industry.. I’d do a 250 comeback “public relations” type tour call it unfinished business and all off season BEFORE YOU APPEAL have the public’s opinion known to those making this decision.. and in the mean time if nothing else if denied all that time was marketing for your team .. ya not a set in stone plan but something like that I think could definitely work out .. by denying you they are literally denying a star of the sport a opportunity to race in front of the fans and denying a new oem the chance to display their bike and choice of talent to represent them .. imo you can display what ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE message that is to deny you for ……..? A dumb rule change caveat exception so to speak ..

250's are too expensive to race unless your sponsor has deep pockets. Bring back the 125 class. There should be a Woman's class at MX Nationals and the tracks should be real MX tracks not big SX tracks.

Pulp don’t get it. I completely agree with Joey when it comes to the rule. That’s like being locked up for marijuana before the states decriminalized it then not letting the person out after. When there is professional racers when does the age group become an issue ? When a rider is fast enough to win no matter the age why would it matter. It would help the sport. 250 pro class should be fastest races. 450 pro class fast 250 riders move up which should be the riders choice if there ready or not. It should depend on lap times and professionalism. Slower rider go back to amateur pro . Get the lappers off the track if they can't race at the pace of the first top 15 to 20th place they shouldn't be apart of the race. If you got the pace you get in the race. The youngens gotta understand us pro men aren't getting pushed out by some kids that think they can take a shot at it it should be a confirmed certificate of lap time to get a gate.
