Ari's special "Jew" is a good example of how having the time to perfect a special really makes a difference. It's one of the finest specials of the last decade. Tight, flows well, great material, etc. The extra time that went into it is evident. Too many other specials these days are pumped out prematurely. Comedians feel the pressure to stay on a release schedule that is sometimes too tight.

When you do that who is the one who says whose offense is enough to jail over? Like I'm hugely offended when ppl want to censor others or if people spout Marxist ideologies but I don't want them jailed over it. I'm an adult and online you can just police what YOU see instead of policing what other say. With the mute and block on every platform IDK why there's even a debate about this shit. Just block and move on. It's what I've done with the few I couldn't stand seeing on my timelines..I didn't go to Twitter or Discord and try to get them in trouble...To me it's insane to do that if it's not a legit threat or say slanderous in a damaging way. The old 'UK comedy is twelve-thirteen years behind the US' stuff. Does that mean we currently have a Louis CK and Bill Burr roaming around? No, it doesn't. It doesn't mean anything. British comedians didn't start caring about American comedians until Bill Hicks, and that was it until the middle of the 2000s, where they started pretending to like Chris Rock much more than they actually did. The best UK comedy is influenced by other UK comedy. It used to be that there wasn't that much overlap, UK comics weren't as in awe of and oppressed by US comics, and comedy in the UK was much better for it. But naturally we now see ourselves in competition, and we don't have the self-respect to handle it with dignity. Considering this country's achievements, it's absurd.
@LuisCarruthers2 ай бұрын
Yes. It's a misguided comparison. It would mean that in the mid-2030s, we'll have comedians like Shane Gillis. In reality, in the mid-2030s they'll be no comedy venues left (just like music venues) and our culture will be more geared towards the demands of a growing religious group.

That was refreshing. The one thing we should be talking about is that we were born into societies that said humans are lacking and flawed. We need to question that negative belief because it is the root cause of all our problems. In reality, we are perfect and complete in the same way that tigers, trees, and stars are perfect and complete.
@martingifford54152 ай бұрын
@@LeeGee Pretty much every society says humans are lacking and flawed. Society pushes us to seek material, social, or spiritual gain to fill the supposed lack. And society pushes us to police ourselves and others to thwart our supposed flaws. Political polarisation happens because we so easily judge others as stupid or evil. So instead of criticising ourselves and others, we need to focus on the social paradigm that triggers this negativity. It's a giant distraction that wastes our time and energy.

I appreciate Ari's optimism, but he isn't responsible for anything. He doesn't own anything or have a family (wife and kids). It's easy to turn a blind eye to society crumbling around you if you're content doing drugs and leaving the country on a whim. He's not attached to the world the way most people are, which is cool for him, but it's a little ignorant for him to expect people to just smile at the pretty flowers when riots are happening a few blocks over. I'd wager he'd feel different if he had kids and had to think about someone's future beyond his own. Not everything is doom and gloom; there is a lot of day-to-day beauty in the world, but the willful ignorance of the problems in society is intellectually lazy.

The boys seemed so unamused by Ari trying so hard to be perceived as the edge lord to end all edge lords. I’m torn about how I feel about this interview. On one hand I wish Ari would have let them ask more questions (or even finish questions) rather than just go on tangent after tangent. On the other hand, letting him spout off about whatever without interruption seems to have had a weird effect on him where he made himself look worse and worse which was amusing in itself.

I don’t think unamused but maybe slightly annoyed, because if you took a shot every time Ari interrupted one of their questions… you’d die of alcohol poisoning. They literally had to say, “what I’m saying Ari”, over and over because he jumped in early to start talking over them and didn’t let them ever finish a sentence.

Sometimes internet opinion is represented by a large and maybe unheard segment of the population, sometimes internet opinion is amplified and manipulated by very small like-minded groups (or just an individual). It's a balancing act to recognize the differences on any given topic

Lol Ari's entire attitude makes the hosts' uncomfortable because it destroys the whole premise of their show. You can see them reaching, and pulling, and prying for 'real world' implications, because without any it makes you realize these two are just a part of the same problem.

He's just one of the Jews that would have stayed in Germany a bit too long. Guys it's just propaganda from the radio, it's not real life! .. Not until it gets too big to ignore and it takes over . I commend him because that's how us Jews are. We laugh at those who throw hatred at us because it's so pathetic. But if enough people can be convinced it can become a serious issue. We are seeing that now in the protests since Oct 7

I grew up in the UK but emigrated to Australia in my early 20's just over a decade ago. Every time I go back, I wonder how the hell anyone lives there. It'll always be home, and I'll always have a nostalgia for my roots and history. But whenever I romanticise moving back, my Aussie wife reminds me it's a weird, miserable, grey little island with crap wages and not enough sunshine, haha 😅 No wonder we kept setting up colonies in warmer areas.

I can't help the notice that with destiny made the joke about the guy getting shot at the Trump rally You guys were pretty disgusted. You did not like that joke, So much so you brought it up cuz it let the bad taste in your mouth, but ari made a same distasteful joke about Kobe dying and both of you just laughed And you moved on and it didn't bother you like destiny's joke did? I'm curious to why? It seems to me that one Guy shares more of your political views and positions So You think his joke is funny The one that has opposing views to you You thought was despicable behavior. This is a good faith question. I'm a really big fan of your guyses. I have the notifications on for every show and I listen to every other podcast you guys are on. I must admit that this double standard left a bad taste in my mouth. I know you don't owe me s*** but I wish I had an explanation because this is the first time you've ever sounded like more of the same to me. I thought the rules were the same for everybody with you guys That's why I like just so much

I'd say the difference is that Ari is a comedian and that I was instinctively offended by the kobe joke but immediately realized the humor in it whereas Destiny's comments had no humor to be found. My point is that skills matter in comedy.

Destiny bieng ok with trump voters bieng shot is not a joke and does nothing to help the current political climate, it shows theres a mass of peoole that are ok with someone else bieng killed in a tragedy simply because of who they want to vote for, i dont like democrat voters but i dont wish harm on any of them but if they vote to release criminals and defund police and crime goes up and people get hurt im gonna joke about it but i still wish them the best, kobe was a celeb that died in a accident and if you joke about that no one assumes your actully calling for or are ok with something like that happening, destiny legit believes trump and his voters are a threat to democracy and should be treated as such, thats why destiny dosent give sympathy for the firefighter.
