Some you win, some you lose. I bought a switch with joycons, dock and psu for £50, then sold the switch and joycons for £110 after fixing the SL/SR buttons on both joycons and cleaning it all up. I'm keeping the dock and psu for another switch I have that I put in new clear purple shells, blue led's on the SL/SR and hall effect sticks.

Do you ever check the model numbers of the switches you sell? Some of those switches like the one in the very first of your video is a hackable switch, which genuinely sells for more because it is hackable.

For the fist one, when you are using the thermal camera, the delta T is like 7 degrees. As a thermographer, I might call that residual heat but only you would know how long it's been. Further, you can't take a thermal image of a metal (generally speaking but for sure in this case). The reflective properties are much to high to capture any emissivity. That's why there is heat shown only on the edges of the APU. To capture the emissive properties of the die, put a piece of electrical tape (colour doesn't matter but CUT it off the roll, don't pull to snap) on it and you will have close to a 0.95 black body that is better at showing thermals than even the circuit board or other non-metallic components..

Been binge watching for a week now. I have been doing small simple repairs like changing batteries and such and in devices like Nintendo switch. Just ordered stuff to do what you do. What types of repairs would you recommend I look for to start out and also where to acquire items. So far I’m mainly looking for charging port replacement devices. Also subscribed

on the first switch there is a really blackened cap next to the BQ chip. take a look at it if you did not sell it already.
@austinwhitney1362Ай бұрын
It would probably be worthwhile to test the switches that show nothing on screen but pull charge with something like tegrarcmgui to see if they are just in autorcm mode expecting a boot payload from a prior soft mod. It exhibits the exact same behavior if that is the case. maybe not the case with this switch, but possible for some others like the last switch episode.

The APU jumped quite a bit on the initial put down, I'd guess maybe half a row, hopefully it jumped the right way, any way to check the outer pins in the direction it jumped?

The Max IC supplying power to the APU may also cause a blue screen. To align the APU before resoldering it, there is an almost invisible tiny square in the top left corner. Max magnification and light are necessary to pinpoint it 😊

Time to get a reball jig from china, those make reballs much faster and easier, stencils for them are standard sizes. Getting a preheated would be good as well for resoldering the chips

@hogler249Ай бұрын
HELLO! complete noob here but is it not possible to reball an APU by just running solder over the back of the chip and, with a generous amount of flux, the pads should soak up the solder and, with a bit of time, eventually the chip will be soldered where needed? Or is this completely ridiculous and you will always need a stencil for this kind of job?

Hey Joey, I listed a rtx 3060 12gb model on ebay. I got it when I was working at a tech recycling center about a year ago. The card was unopened until I tested and replaced paste. Before and after that, the card immediately heats up and crashes the system within a few seconds or few minutes if you're lucky. Want to take a look at it?

0.46A or 0.47A with no display usually means the CPU is kaput, which means not fixable, so its probably best to just sell it on. At least you didn't pay much for it.

I watched about 15-20 videos and in summary it comes to this: if it’s not hdmi or usb-c connectors that are broken, there is no chance to fix any of those consoles. None of reballing reflowing and other things helped. Same with tronixfix, all his vids are basically clean ups or case swaps or just hdmi replacements for 1000 times

Nah, he goes a little more in depth than Tronixfix. Watch again. Try the coder.

101 episodes for 1k profit is wild. unfortunately youtube channels like this ruined this trade. Not your fault, you're late to the game and I won't mention any names... but back in 2017 you could make a living on this. Now broken systems and retro games are sold for barely under working condition because sellers know a youtuber might be buying, or someone is gonna try to fix it and profit. I was fixing NES=N64 carts in 2015 and making a few hundred a week just in side cash for fun. Just replacing batteries half the time in pokemon games to fix "save data won't stay saved". Back then not many folks knew these fixes. KZbin really ruined so many markets but i will still enjoy watching these videos 😅
