Unless you’re going to be at minimums from private to commercial, part 141 isn’t worth it IMO. Extra cost for stage checks, and waiting for them is a progress killer. Plus I read the horror stories of some 141 programs holding people back over very silly things. Nickel and dime them for as much money as possible. I did 61 PPL, 141 IRA, 61 commercial. Time building for 61 is great experience to a CRM environment and you can explore. Plus you split cost, Cheapest hours you’re going to get. 55 hours of dual plus plane rental in 141 commercial killed the deal for me. Saved me about $9k going back and building hours for 61. I quit my career, moved my family to a different state and went all in on training. Still grinding everyday to keep moving forward! Best of luck to everyone out there!

Impressive story but what really impressed me is you being able to deal with Melbourne Tower’s shenanigans for as long as you did 😂. Great video input for those trying to get in the industry.

The school I recommend here does loans I believe. But yea if needed definitely take out the loan and you’ll pay it back fast once you’re in the airlines

Great video Joey. Just a question, did you work a job during your training? And if you did, would you recommend working while training or just drop everything and knock it out as quick as you can?
@Joeymiuccio

I always did social media marketing part time but it didn’t take up too much of my time so it worked out. I would suggest dropping everything and doing it full time

Great video Joey! Appreciate all the helpful tips! I'm saving up to go all in on accelerated training full time but I'm about 12 months out. I know it's a good idea to knock out all written tests beforehand and they're good for 2 yrs.. but since I'm about 12 months out, should I wait to take the tests until closer in? Or should I just get out of the way now and be done with them knowing there will be a gap in training? Just dont want to forget any info for checkrides that may slow me down when I'm actually ready to pull the trigger.

I’ve taken two flights with my friend who is a CFI (3 if you include one in a Cessna 310 that I didn’t fly) and he is going to work for SkyWest in the next couple weeks. I love it! But flying is intimidating at first because you really don’t know what’s going on haha. Did you have any of that uncertainty? I don’t want it to scare me away and want to continue on!

Flight training is becoming a bit more expensive these days but that’s not way out of the norm but I personally suggest Melbourne flight training considering that’s where I went. If you don’t like that current school I’d suggest finding one that fits your needs.

the school closest to me is a 141, a bit more expensive but the 190 hour commercial license seems like i could make money off of the other 60 hours other then renting to get to 250? Do yall think i should do that or just go with the cheaper part 61, any more advice about schools i will take aswell!
@Joeymiuccio

Both good options. I went 61 but in the long term it won’t make a massive difference just pick one and fly fly fly
