polaroracle's comment was about the same thing :) it's a bunad, the Norwegian national dress. Most women wear them on the 17th of May (our national day) and other formal occasions -- there are bunads for men as well but it's not quite so commonly seen. There are many variations of patterns, colours, etc., depending on the region. I could perhaps recognise one from a couple of different places like Telemark or Hardanger but polaroracle says this is a Valdres-bunad (Valdres is the area that Fuglesteg is from).

Såpass peiling har ikke jeg på bunad, gitt! Kult at noen har det. Veit riktignok at Fuglesteg er fra Valdres, så det gir mening :)
