Going further afield than ever before on this channel, to Europe’s eastern borderlands in the Caucasus. In the words of Fenriz: rather exotic!
Georgia / traditional music / polyphonic singing / Werner Herzog / Nosferatu, Phantom der Nacht / Nosferatu the Vampyre / 1979 Count Dracula film / movie / Klaus Kinski / (not) Popol Vuh / soundtrack

Werner Herzog used a lot of great music in his films, but not all of his films were great. "Aguirre, Wrath of God" is my favorite film of his, and I think the music was made by a German New-age synthesizer group called (file not found; something in German)... Similar in mood to the "spooky" Caucasian music heard here...

The group you're thinking of (mostly revolving around one man, Florian Fricke) is Popol Vuh, named after the Mayan mythological text. I wouldn't exactly call their 70s work new age myself, but after about 1982 they definitely started making more new age music, which Herzog really disliked, haha. But they made the soundtracks for many of his 70s films. I own the Aguirre soundtrack and my own favourite, Herz aus Glas :) unfortunately the soundtrack albums often doesn't contain (all) the same versions or pieces as the films. The Nosferatu soundtrack is great, too, to name one more. (I realise Nosferatu is already mentioned in the video title but Popol Vuh made the score, though not all the music -- just like the main score for Fitzcarraldo was also by them, but it also contains several Enrico Caruso songs etc.)

@@Vingul aha! "Popol Vuh" (not a German name at all, how could I forget?😂)... Yes... Very good stuff... I like the synth music of "Vangelis" as well... I enjoy all art that disturbs me and make me feel different than I normally feel. Being comfortable is boring.

@@Vingul you are so cool; I really appreciate your replies... So often people are cold and cruel, but there's a warmth in frozen Norge... Here is my own sister, singing her song. I think she has a good voice, but I'm clearly biased, lol... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYOkfJSXoL2Yd9ksi=-5zX5UMFyrYmre7C Paddy's Lament (sung by Marie Sorenson, bless her heart)

@@giuseppelogiurato5718 Yeah, it isn’t exactly «Neu!», «Kraftwerk» or «Faust», haha. Love Vangelis’ Blade Runner soundtrack, so good. Perfect for the dystopian + romantic mood of the film, lol - or it actually sets that mood, certainly the romantic part.

@@giuseppelogiurato5718 Hello! I didn't see your comment about Paddy's Lament until I went into the "youtube studio" thing, I assume because it contains a link. Your sister has a wonderful voice and not least cadence -- too often with modern singers of folk songs there's a little bit of "radio top 40" that sneaks into it, but not so with your sister. I only mention it because I notice it so often in other places. She has a genuine singing voice. Thanks, not least for saying I'm cool, ha ;-) I always appreciate your comments as well.

Wonderful choral polyphony. I stand with Georgia against the Abkhaz and Ossete separatists.

🔥 thanks for confirming that it’s polyphony, I wrote polyphonic singing in the description before becoming slightly uncertain, hah. The «table singing» tradition in Georgia is great too, very forceful and unmistakably polyphonic.

I support every separtist movement a priori. No country has the right to be any bigger than the Principality of Liechtenstein.
