This is from a movie about a ficticious band called "Eddie and The Cruisers." That was definitely a saxophone toward the end. And, the song sounds a LOT like early Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's music. The main riff also reminds me a lot of John Cougar Mellencamp's song called "R.O.C.K. in the USA"
@MyXxx77
@MyXxx77 2 жыл бұрын
The riff is nearly a carbon copy of Neil Diamond's 'Cherry, Cherry' and that's not at all a bad thing.

The entire “Eddie and the Cruisers” soundtrack is excellent…huge success for John Cafferty. The sequel music was good too. I’d say that “Eddie and the Cruisers” and “The Commitments” [both movies about fictional bands] are two of the greatest and top selling movie soundtracks ever. You should watch the movies…they are super. Lots of great songs and sax in both.

@@damonbryan7232LOL That's just plain false. John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band formed in 1972. They were an East Coast bar band until they had a single in 1980. A single that didn't even chart. Didn't record a studio album until the soundtrack for "Eddie & the Cruisers" in 1983. Meanwhile....Bruce Springsteen released his first TWO albums, "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J." and "The Wild, The Innocent, And The E Street Shuffle", a whole decade earlier in 1973. Eddie and the cruisers! That’s how I know them thanks to a movie that became a hit on HBO! They were just a New England band that played bars until they achieved international success when producer Kenny Vance, a longtime fan, offered them the score to a movie soundtrack he was helming based on a best-selling novel about a legendary bar band, Eddie and the Cruisers.

I can't speak for everybody, but being a teenager in the 80's and all they had to offer, this song always felt like a guilty pleasure, kind of tip of the hat to ALL of the music I grew up with from my parents. Like at the time, I was exploring Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, LL Cool J, a lot of different things and then this song came out and kids my age weren't supposed to like this song because it mostly sounded like our parents music. But this song, THIS SONG, hit everything that my generation like about our parents generation of music. And the fact that most of their generation didn't really like it, kind of made it ours. Secretly. Like we didn't tell our friends, but we might catch them listening to it too. Maybe that's why music like this was called "catchy", because you would sometimes "catch" someone that wasn't supposed to like this music, liking it. Ha!

The songs "The new york City Song" (NYC Song), and "Some Like It Hot" are amazing, but all of their songs are amazing. yes saxaphone is a main instrument they use. they had a famous sax player in the band and in one of the movies. i think his name was like Mike Antunes "Tunes" i think?

The song was written for the movie "Eddie and the Cruisers". A fictitious band set in like 1965. This was very wild for early 60's rock. Which was the premise for the whole movie. There are a number of bands out there that this happened too. One in the 70's was Starz. Very different sound, a little too soon for it's time.
